he could make that miss every week and I'll still kiss his feet at the end. Look at how he bombs up and down the field to support our attack. Its never a dull moment with him. Ole has to make the big call and make this permanent. He should at least always start in games we are favored to win.

Love him! Has flaws and needs to work on certain things, but he makes a massive difference to the team, picks out good passes and doesn't stop make runs. Feels nice to have a proper left-back again.

These are exactly the kind of games he should play in. Games where we are going to be on the front foot most of the time. I'm still not convinced that he should be playing LB though. He plays too narrow. I would really like to see him played at RB...

This for me.

i'm hoping that Shaw steps up seeing Williams starting to surpass him.

Complete canonball. Reminds me a bit of Evra. Liking what I am seeing.

No way....Shaw needs to play in games where we need to be a bit more defensive (Marhez tore Williams apart midweek). But games like today he should be starting...
Yes he still needs work defensively but that will surely come.

Honestly don't think Shaw would have made a difference mid week. Better defensively but so passive.

Just needs that tiny bit of composure. That will come though.
He's very good for these sort of games as he is so so much better going forward than Luke Shaw.

Fantastic prospect. Even with a couple sloppy moments that will disappear with experience, he looks great. Officially better than Shaw with those storming runs down the left.

First choice at left back.

One of the brightest sparks of this season and rightly so. Clearly first choice at the minute.

A 19 year old Manc lad straight from the academy putting in performances like that. Inject it!

Was thinking about this earlier. Wonder how AWB would fare on the left, given we wouldn't really lose anything in attack from moving him over and we'd probably gain quite a bit from Williams being on his natural foot.

He'll run all day. First season at this level, not a surprise he got a bit sloppy from 85 minutes on, he was tired. He played it about perfect up to that point. So mature and calm on the ball. He is always an outlet playing out from the back and always available in attack due to his positioning and pace, as a team we do not get dispossessed as much as we used to down that side.

I also rate his defending considering his style of play. For a kid his age, he is already pretty good positionally imo. Of course he lacks a bit but I don't think Shaw is better defensively right now, and certainly not in a couple of years. Most of his usefulness in defence is about being proactive, on the front foot to not only win the ball but being able to quickly transition from defence to attack. It's an outlet we haven't had on that side since Evra.

He reminds me of Denis Irwin a bit. Fearless, just silently gets on with his job and never backs down. This is what leading by example means. Has a real attitude about him. A real United player. We should be proud to have him and it's easy to see why he was highly rated, but he has made tremendous steps this season to establish himself with a much higher tempo in games and to develop further as well.

The new Rafael. Has skill and full of beans but a little crazy.

Fergie type player.

I don't think we would gain much actually. AWB will struggle even more to pass the ball comfortably being on his weak foot constantly.

Whilst Williams wouldn't come inside as often which isn't always a bad thing.

He just needs to work on being able to put a cross in with his left and he'd be sound.

Absolutely love the kid, always have done ever since I saw him in the reserves watching Greenwood.

Gutted for him he didn't score another as he deserved it, the desire to sprint up the pitch with a lost cause like that to get on the end of the chance - something we rarely see out of Shaw. Brilliant.

He's still got stuff to work on but i'll take the positives over the negatives every time. Passion that is infectious.

Aye. His talent, the way he plays plus that fire in his belly is what reminds me of the Da Silva twins too.

I think he is more talented than Rafael, to be frank
Nah not a chance IMO. Williams looks good but Rafael was fantastic as a young player (and especially in that 12/13 season). On a different level, though that's not to say Williams won't progress in a better way. Rafael just looked special as a young player.

personally, I always rated Fabio higher than Rafael, but it’s been a while already and doesn’t matter all that much.

We could have lost that game 1-0 and I wouldn’t have cared as much about that miss. He’s phenomenal. Great engine on him and the mentality to match it. It’s psychologically devestating for opponents down his wing when they see him sprinting box to box 4 - 5 times each game.

Screw the miss, only way Shaw would have got up the pitch that quickly is if he was in a go-kart. Love the kid the spot should basically be his already, heart of a lion and really exciting player to watch.

Astonishing watching him play doing what he is doing at 18, he has had no prep, probably thought he was with the academy or u23s for the season, you can tell the crowd love him too with every burst of energy whether a determined tackle or forward run, I did not even care about the goal he should have scored, even as he blasted it over I was just so impressed with his determination, timing and intelligence to get into that position, brilliant.

We haven't had a full back run into space like that in donkeys. Feels so weird to watch. Makes such a difference to have a runner from deep.

Great young player and Rashford,Greenwood and Williams plus other youth players on the way in are what United are all about. Now we need 4 to 5 players into the squad to support them.

Very positive performance. But he will need to learn how to not being panic when under pressure, and he will become one hell of full back. That first half when Norwich almost counter us from corner before Bissaka made brilliant defending was one of it.

People are questioning our coaching & tactic why Shaw & Bissaka don’t overlap much, in contrast today and also any of our previous games, Williams showed that wasn’t the case. The guy always looking for making great run. Can’t see us winning that penalty if Shaw was the one play today.

Shows the importance of attacking full backs when you’re breaking down teams. The difference between him and AWB is staggering and I’m not talking about chance creation, but just the movement alone is crucial.

Going to be interesting to see what happens when teams figure out he’s always going to cut onto his right. Out of interest, has he played right back much?

The more he plays the better he becomes. In my opinion he is ahead and should stay ahead of Shaw in the starting line up. As he ages and fills out and gains his man strength he will be one hell of a left back. If only AWB could offer the same attacking threat on the the other side.

How many penalties did he already earn us this season? At this rate, it should be added as a separate stat in his profile

Williams looks like he is mirroring Gary Neville’s first season immediate impact and entry into the first team. Can literally observe tangible improvements every game as he gains more experience. But trying not to get too excited as he still has a long way to go.

And to think that Laird is supposedly even better!

Good for Shaw to have serious competition: he can either buck up or be shipped out next summer.

Think we should let Young leave this window, to force the competition between this young Turks.

He has to be our first choice LB.

Miles ahead of Shaw in every department.
