So Beckham's team is due to make it's debut when the MLS kicks off next month. With that in mind, I have some questions. Why do they have two herons on the badge? Why did Becks choose such a shit name for his club? Why did he choose an even shitter name for his investment group, 'Miami Beckham United'? And finally, what's with the shittest name of all, Inter Miami's stadium: Freedom Park LLC ?

With all that in mind, and considering that the opening sentence of their Wikipedia 'history' begins "In November 2012, MLS commissioner Don Garber confirmed the league's renewed interest in placing an expansion franchise in Miami,[3] after the Miami Fusion folded following the 2001 season...", can we agree that Inter Miami are the most heinous club in the history of sports, objectively even more so than Liverpool?

I like it, including their badge with the two flamingos. Then again, it's the MLS....who cares?

According to Google Becks is worth $900 mil, which isn't far off what the Glazers 'paid'.
Those things are never accurate, it seems high even for David Beckham. If it's true though, then wow....good job, David/Victoria.

Why Inter, of all names? Apparently they ended up in a legal dispute with Inter Milan, who are trying to trademark the name 'Inter'.

Well it elaborates that David is worth $450 and Victoria is worth $450. I don't know how accurate that is, or what Posh Spice has done to make $450 mil, but I doubt she'd be quite so keen on investing her cash into United.

Great white herons are only found in south Florida and the Florida keys.

It’s Club Internacional de Futbol Miami. I would guarantee they’re leaning into Latino support and wanted a Spanish name. Internacional manages to work in Spanish and English as Inter.

Worse? That would be fantastic. They'd be the best-named club in the MLS by some distance- as opposed to the worst.
The Miami Heat started the Vice alternate look, they kind of got beat to it.

MLS clubs using European naming customs is absolute cringe. Real Salt Lake has to be the worst - "Real" means "royal" in Spanish. There's no Spanish royalty in Utah!

Why did he choose Miami of all cities? A notoriously underwhelming professional sports city aside from the Dolohins and university sports.

With such amazing weather and beaches and women who would want to spend 2 hours in a stadium?

I might be wrong here, but I swear I saw on Facebook another new team in the MLS, from North Carolina, simply called 'Charlotte'.

At first I laughed then I thought I actually really like that. It's more in line with traditional English names like Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea etc rather than following the trend of adding a suffix or prefix to the city's name, in typical American fashion.

Big fan of that team name.

Its for these reasons I reckon. He's hoping to corner the soccer market in a very desirable, attractive part of the USA. In a way, like luring players to La Liga for the weather and culture (and for the big 2-3 teams, the football too). It's a business move and I think it might actually work. Big Hispanic/Latino population in Florida, especially Miami.

No state income tax is attractive for professional athletes, they're also banking on the Hispanic population turning up but they're gonna have a hard time competing with the Dolphins and Miami Heat who are the only real legit team they have right now.

Does that mean its possible for United to sue Man City so they'd have to change their name. To Al-City or something

If the teams don't walk out to the Will Smith song then what is the actual point of this whole venture?

Unrelated to Beck's getting sued - I happen to be in Miami on the 14th, when they're playing LA Galaxy. Does anyone have any info on how to get a ticket? Their site seems to suggest that you can only buy season tickets/partial tickets, but - as naive as this likely is - I can't imagine this being sold out...

Touts outside the ground i'd imagine will be a simple solution - who knows whether it'll be expensive though. What are MLS ticket prices usually?

I'd suggest the best thing to do is fire a PM over to @Eboue. He'll collect tickets and meet you near the ground.

They aren’t on sale yet.
