Grealish is shite, Maddison isn't anything special either. Just overrated cause they're English
Aren't England world champions are two age groups and the senior team just got to the semi finals in Russia too. There's loads of English talent around now.

Castles is very reliable. Underrated on here.
His podcast is basically a load of anti United waffle, whenever I’ve listened to it he speculates and fills it out with opinion that is rather badly disguised as fact, heavily loaded with self appraisal....I can’t get enough of it:smirk:

In almost all the Bruno Fernandes threads I have wrote extensive stuff about his playstyle and I would do it again but I am in the midst of writing something up for work as well but I will give you a quick run down.

SHOOTING: he has unbelievable shooting with both his left and right foot he uses both power and precision (mostly power) and hits them from distance often and with good amounts of success

PASSING/VISION: He is the creator for Sporting and everything runs through him. His long passing and through balls are of high quality and his ability to make a pass before receiving the ball is very good as well. His teammates at times struggle to keep up with what he tries to do which says a lot about how shit Sporting are.

DRIBBLING: He can beat a man if he needs to or in tight spaces but this is NOT one of the traits you should be focused on when getting a player like Bruno. It is not something you really highlight about him as player.

STAMINA/LEADERSHIP: You get a natural born leader with Bruno and he very often the first to track back and go up and down the pitch. If he loses it you can bet your bottom dollar he will take it right back. If a teammate loses it he is the first to pull back. He has very high on field IQ which may explain why he says he hopes to be a coach one day.

ABILITY TO GET OUT OF TIGHT SPACES: Has no problem doing this and if the Portuguese league is a turn off for you he has done it in the CL vs Barcelona.

SETPIECES: Dam near automatic. World class penalty taker and his free kicks are brilliant as well scores a lot of them.

His vision passing and overall ability in the final third is of the best quality I have personally ever seen in Sporting.

***I posted this a few pages back. Hope it helps!
Thanks very much for the response, on paper he sounds perfect for us.

Very good! Made me laugh.

I want him after seeing that video.

@SportingCP96 what's your thoughts on this one? You're far better qualified than some of the Caf Einstein's telling us it's a panic buy and he'll flop.

How will be settle in the PL?
What would he give to this United side?
Pros and cons?

Thanks in advance!
He usually picks up the ball from deep and brings it up the field then using his creativity to make the best chance. If buy hold up play you mean can he hold on to the ball a little longer until the appropriate run is made for him to release the ball then yes, if you mean hold up play as in what a striker or center forward usually do then no.

Also ya I think if you just scroll through the beginning pages of most Bruno threads you will see me somewhere on there haha

I hope this somewhat helped though!

If you ignore the goals just his ability to shoot from range makes chances and goal scoring opportunities for his teammates. This season and last Sporting scored many goals off of rebound from his shots from distance as keepers can’t hold on to the ball so they either Perry it in front of them or it goes out for a corner in which case you have another goal scoring opportunity. This comes in handy especially against those teams you can’t break down and park a bus.

Next up is his set piece ability he has turned into a great free kick taker this season and also is good at corners.

In terms of what you would be getting in midfield you get a guy with an engine who runs up and down the field for 90 minutes and fights for every ball and pushes his team forward. On the offensive side his stats say it all he is a goal threat whether it be by scoring or assisting he has a great passing range and quality to open up defenses with his passing and through balls. He is a goal scoring midfielder but also a created which makes him very dangerous.

These are old posts I did .

There were much better ones but I cant seem to find them:lol:

Such a weird, weird way to look at it. He’s a quality player, his numbers and an eye test tell you that. Players take time to adapt sure, but he’ll produce if we have a settled team and a clear way of playing.
My response is to the post acting like Bruno is an absolute guaranteed success, versus the "lesser" Maddison and Grealish.
Even though the latter two are doing it in our own division right now.

I really hope we absolutely nail a transfer for once, I really do.

Can he head the ball? He's only 5'10 maybe he'll be taking the corners. We've seen what mata can do when he starts. I'd rather invest in a great big forward who can score ugly goals from set pieces.

Might be a good idea to get someone else in who can create chances don't you think?

There always has been enough to put out a quality first 11 at major tournaments on paper at least. But they usually get a footballing lesson from European players who can keep hold of the ball.

If there's no one else available, I guess he is worth the gamble. There is a Champions League place up for grabs after all, and no midfielders.

I was gutted we didn't get him in the summer tbh, @SportingCP96 sold him to me proper.

He's the high risk player we've been crying out for when it comes to being creative. Not only that, he fits Oles ideology of a supremely hard worker.

I genuinely can't believe people are shitting on the Portuguese league to try and write him off. If he was some 18 year old, there would be demands for us to pay whatever they want.

english players are all over priced. No way would we get Grealish or Maddison for the kind of money Bruno is costing.

Not just that, but also the fact that he seems desperate to play for us. There are more exotic names being thrown around by the media like Saul, but would they want to jump from a CL team to one fighting for top 4? Bruno is like that good girl next door with decent looks and a fantastic personality, msot people know she's marriage material, but still keep an eye on the horizon for someone sexier.

To be honest, I think Bruno would be a class player has some ability, but I don’t think he’s in awe of the club which is a good thing. Looks like he has leadership aswell praying for this to go over the line now

Not followed much of this today. Running through the last 1-2 pages, does the deal for Bruno hinge on Rojo going there or otherwise it falls through?

No, sporting probably prefer cold hard cash but we're trying to push Rojo that way to lessen the value - and Rojo wants out anyway.

I think eventually we will just pay more in installments and Rojo will go to Turkey.

I can't get as excited as you I'm afraid, I don't see a sure thing there, although he seems like a more creative soul than Saul, who is more of a workaholic. I'd much rather Maddison was being signed. But if he wants to join that is half the battle, I guess, and I hope the scouts have done their homework and he is actually good enough.

The state of this place:houllier:.What a fecking great signing he's going to be.Scores goals for fun,set piece specialist, a leader, puts a shift in for 90 minutes.Christ, everything that we don't have AND he wants to join United.

Get it fecking done and get him in the starting XI as soon as bloody possible.
If only it was that simple,
Ole, Hey Bruno , fancy coming to play for United,
Bruno, Yes Ole I would like that.
Ole, Great, jump on a flight and you in for Liverpool Sunday.
Bruno, Nice one boss, flight is booked.

How hard can it be, tooks minutes, ha ha, IF ONLY.

We don't need that player (unless as a cheap, last 10/20 minutes option).

We've got forwards who can score but who are suited (not purely mind, they're not one-trick ponies) for quick passes into space or behind the defence.

When we've played quickly on the counter, we've looked quite good and scored but too often, we are cautious and the midfield (and defence) are too slow in transitions. This allows opposition to get back in numbers, negating Rashfords, Martials, Greenwoods, James pace.

I've only seen clips of Fernandes (and read ⬆⬆ our resident Porto fan's posts) but he looks like someone who can (1) thread a pass, long and short and (2) move the ball forward QUICKLY.

That sounds ideal to me.

McTominay and Fred holding and doing the hard work (though sounds like Fernandes has a good work ethic too) with Fernandes in front sounds good to me.

Another thing that worries me in getting Grealish , Madison, or Bruno type of player is that we'll get bullied on set pieces and sometimes in midfield due to us having many midgets in there (Fred), I'm not sure about the balance. I know that it shouldn't really matter but since we're not a possession based team like City etc., it may become a problem in some games. That's why I like the idea of Pogba being that attacking mid but he's been out for so long. :(

I can name a lot of players who did replicate the same output. My point is simply that we don’t know, not even by using stats. I can only hope he’ll come good for us (if we even sign him). You seem very sure he’ll fail. A little confirmation bias, maybe? Perhaps you want a different player?
Hazard, Ronaldo, Suarez.

We don't know, and I will hope he comes good if/when we sign him. He is top class set-piece taker, which is something we need. Will be an upgrade compared to the likes of Mata and Lingard.

A similar notion I had regarding Maguire and AWB during the summer, albeit I'm much more optimistic regarding Bruno and his ability to suit a more progressive style of play. I think that the best way for us to become competitive long term(excluding new owners and Woody) is to play in a similar way to City. And the way Bruno plays for Sporting does not really align with this patient approach to breaking down set defences. During the summer, at least, there were better suited players for my prefered type of football available for a lower price. Which again would make it possible for us to buy additional players that were sorely needed.

For the rumoured price of £60m we could get Zyiech and Pellegrini.

When they're quoting the telegraph?
Yeah they always quote someone but it’s little snippets with no context twisted slightly to maximise retweets. I’m pretty sure they were banned at one point for it.
