That's false. That must have been a fake briefing by Woodward.

You do realise Spurs practically agreed a deal for £58m/€65m but it fell through because Spurs wanted to include €20m in add-ons for winning PL + CL?

Confirmed by their president a few months ago:

Sporting are more realistic? What's changed since the summer? The deal is still at least €65m.
£60 million, is what's quoted. Whatever that is in euro's. That's what most newspapers and media are saying.

Ralf Rangnick.
He wasn't though, hence why no one went for him, the articles from our very own journalists mention that we didn't go for him because they wanted upwards of £75m for him, this snippet is from Ducker's article:

''United briefly explored a move for Fernandes last summer only to be put off by Sporting’s £75m-plus valuation of the Portugal attacking midfielder.''
That info from Ducker has just been released right? See how sly they are? The Sporting president confirmed himself that Spurs were the only party genuinely interested. This £75m+ talk is fake news. A Woodward breifing. Thanks for letting me know to never listen to anything Ducker ever says.

So the same as the summer, yet we can't complete the deal? It doesn't add up. Should have been wrapped up soon as the window opened. It's not like we haven't been in an injury crisis from before the end of the year.

He tried the same with Maguire and AWB and it took the whole transfer window. He then ended up having to pay what was asked in the first place.
Again, wrong.

Maguire they wanted £90m and we paid £80m

AWB they wanted £50m plus the Zaha clause removing, we paid £45 and kept the clause.

At this point, I'll happily take Moussa Dembele. Ole is not the type of person to force an issue. He's indifferent, nothing is urgent to him and that is how he will lose his dream job.

Lyon’s Moussa Dembele? Reason for Woodward on the way to Paris?
If it’s a player in France the only one we should be buying is Soumare. Would have the same impact as players like Kante have done coming into the league.

A striker is the least of our worries right now, in my opinion. Two midfielders is what we should be 100% focusing on for this window, we'll re-assess the rest of the squad come the summer.

Fernandes + 1 would be a very solid window.

This guy looks average as feck. For 60 million, when Liverpool have paid 7.5 for a far superior looking player, we might as well just take lube to the deal and make the memes ridiculing United ourselves.

So you have seen both players play the same?

So a far superior player is producing the same numbers as Bruno is he?

If you check that right they wanted 80Million for Maguire from the start, and were not moving from this figure. Woody started with an offer of 65million and then 2 more offers after that, until eventually having to pay the 80million.
For AWB We offered 2 lesser payments also, but had to pay the 50million in the end, hence the Zaha clause removed.

Far superior? How much of either have you actually watched? How many more oppo bootlickers can the 'caf take before it implodes (and every half decent poster fecks off forever)?

Some of the crap fans come out with is a joke. Without having a look at the numbers, stats or anything.

Would be more like it. Scouts have watched him several times lately.

So you don't remember what happened when Martial was injured this season? Rashford is not a 9 and Greenwood is not ready to lead the line for us yet. Both are better off on the wings. We badly need a another striker. Midfield is already better when we sign Bruno.

I agree we need a striker after Bruno.

The Sporting President said Spurs were the only team to make a serious offer, that doesn't mean we weren't interested, we just didn't bid because their valuation was too high. The Sporting President didn't even accept the offer so the point is moot.

We should probably hold fire to find out if Bruno is a decent transfer and that’s IF he joins United, I think we’ve all been burnt quite a few times over the years believing we’ve signed the next sure thing.
Yes I agree. But seeing what I have of him he is far more creative than anything we currently have.

Everything has to go by the CEO mate, so He must be the hold up then. Can you prove to me he is not.
To be fair, he is ultimately responsible as the CEO, whether someone else is doing the negotiating or not. He could have chosen to fire the chief negotiator if he wasn't performing to standard as has not.
I think he's been in charge long enough for people to draw their own conclusions by now. Without proof, although why people ask for proof on stuff like this is amusing.
There are reputable sources stating that:

1. Sporting are considering which (if any) United player to take on loan as part of the deal.
2. Complicated by fact that they'd like Rojo, but he prefers a move to Turkey
3. Bruno agent Mendes also busy with Gedson transfer
4. Perhaps Sporting are trying to slow process so Bruno can play against Benfica.

But, yeah it's Woodward's fault.

As I said in my original post, when hating on Woodward is justifiable on many fronts, it looks lazy when indiscriminate.

We also didn't know that Pogba would be effectively AWOL for most of the season!

Any well ran club would have announced a midfield signing on the 1st of the month. You know, have solutions to problems before they happen. Have targets scouted, narrowed down and ready to bid on before the window opened.

I can understand some of those points might be correct.

Rojo and the loan player could be holding this up.

But saying an agent is busy on another transfer is lazy because the agent might be Mendes but I can assure you, they do not work alone. Most agents have a company with staff.

Last point, most transfers would have a time limit, leaving an offer open ended is not good business sense, we are paying the money, surely you would want the player not to play another game.

Can I see that manual or thesis that states this?
