This would be our Denis Suarez.
Llorente will struggle here. He hasn't kicked on at all.
Surprised A. Madrid brought him.

Seems like a real random punt.
Yeah but with experience in playing for both Madrid clubs, technically gifted, young and desperate to impress, what could go wrong with a loan deal? Seems like a good short term solution to our injury crisis tbh.

Sounds a bit more inspiring than Emre Can or Sean Longstaff

This. Can offer relief for Fred and Matic whilst waiting for Pogba and Mctominay. If it turns out he is suited to the epl and plays well we could try make it permanent in the summer.

Nothing wrong with getting him on loan, hopefully with the option to buy in case he does impress. Better than having to play the likes of Pereira in midfield.

I just wrote this in the transfer tweet thread. For anyone who doesn't know his story thus far

Marcos llorente was incredible at Alves. Did ok with minimal minutes at Real. Went onto to sign for Atletico which surprised alot of Real fans. Looked slow and not on his game at Atletico. Hardly got any minutes after a poor first 4 games of his 1st season and due to Saul, koke and Partey being preferred by Diego Simeone, he's not played.

His potential was thought of as being huge early on. I would be happy for a loan. Plays as a holding midfielder/Cm. His best attributes are interceptions and ball retention.

Dig up stupid!
Was very highly rated a couple of seasons ago at alaves, I'd be inclined to believe the talent is there (atleti didn't exactly pay peanuts for him) but for whatever reason he's struggled to break through at the bigger clubs.

In the right environment he may very well flourish, worth a punt imo and if it's on loan at first it could actually be an example of a solid bit of recruitment work from ed

Maybe this could be like when Arsenal took Ceballos from Real last summer,if we could get him and Bruno this window that at least would give us something different in midfield. Maybe we need someone on twitter to ask the tier 1 journos about this.

Hopefully it isn't a case of Utd turning to Llorente because they are walking away from Fernandes. I know odds mean little but still can't recall us 1/20 to sign someone before.

We need bodies for midfield, and if Ole thinks he is good enough, then fine. If he settles and improves we could do a deal for him in the summer.

Nah wouldn't be the case. They're completely different players. Bruno Fernandes is a pure #10, Marcos Llorente is a holding mid/deep lying passing midfielder.

This is a smart signing! Unwanted at current club and something to prove, all that potential a year or two ago and the opportunity to play football and make a name for himself at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

If it doesn’t go to plan, no problem, he can go back and what’s done is done with no penalty.

If he plays and does well, or if they see enough about him behind the scenes, he will want the move somewhere where he feels wanted and we would have a player worth potentially far more than what we would pay for him where he is in his career now.

He has done Madrid, so a real opportunity to tie down a potentially quality player to a career at United. I like it a lot and it hints at a new strategy.

Let’s bring him in under the radar and see what we’ve potentially got!

Definitely worth a punt and evidence of increased vision at the club. If he does well, it’s a gem and we’ll be hailed as geniuses and if he isn’t up to it then he’s just cover anyway. Perfect January signing.

Hasn't he flopped since he moved, hence that's why he's available?

Yes but that doesn’t make it a bad move. It’s a loan so it’s zero risk and it can only be a win for us. We desperately need cover there and we aren’t going to sign anyone better in Jan. Him and Bruno would be excellent business.

Need to make him sound more English for the Brexit Boys purposes so Boris doesn't find out. Any ideas? Mark Laurentey?

Fair point. Lets hope that A Madrid just doesn't suit him.

It's a show of increased vision because he's a squad player at his current club with potential who hasn't been playing much, we always get linked to such obvious targets, so it's nice to see someone who you'd think would have needed a bit more scouting and thought.

According to my extensive Google research it appears that Llorente derives from Lorenzo which in turn is derived from the germanic word for laurel, so it seems apt we name him Mark Laurel
