Yeap make our small squad even smaller, I get we have better younger players but as already seen this season with our non existent midfield it's a dangerous game sliming the squad down without out bringing players in, got to love Ed.... Young shouldn't be kept. He was never good in the first place. His flirting with Inter should be the last straw.

Id say sell him now. Same with Jlingz, Matic and Pogba all of whom acted despicable towards the club. We probably won't make it to top 4 with or without them
I doubt we’ll sell them now but by this time next year it’s hard to see any of them still at the club.

Young has been a very good pro.

gets offered a contract by inter for presumably 18 months - he’s going to ask to go, and was out of contract in the summer. He has done zero wrong, and has in no way acted despicably towards the club.

good luck to Young. Excellent pro, who clearly gave it all on the pitch. Now has a fantastic opportunity near the end of his career.
Agree entirely. Very happy for him.

Am also grateful for his contribution to our club during his time with us. He may have been only limited by his level of skill and talent but he was trusted by every manager he played under and gave his all more often than not.

Hope he does well in Italy, and can have one final renaissance before his legs finally go.

If a better full back than shaw can be found then mr Shaw should be sold .

He's shit.
At what cost though? Shaw isn't at all shit, although he hasn't progressed as thought when signed from Soton. Mentally and physically he's not up to snuff, but he has his uses for a squad player and an experienced head to challenge Williams.

If Williams is going to be given the chance to solidify his first choice selection going into next season, why are you going to spend another 10 to 20 million pounds + wages to have someone try to challenge him when that person is already there in Shaw?

Good luck Cash... i mean Ashley

Can call himself lucky to have played for us, a lot of work rate but not that much talent. There was no need to abuse him and all that though

 WTF?! Young is not guilty of any of this.

I think you're understating his talent and ability to adapt at his age...he put in good performances, wasn't like it was complete world class but when you're at his age and playing a central figure for a World Cup team deep in the tournament...you've got some talent and professional onus on you.

Happy for him.

Really like Young. He’s always given his all. Remember under Moyes when we were one goal up against Stoke and he made a 70 yard run to clear the ball. He gave it his all. In a Ferguson era he would have been a fantastic squad player.

Thank you Ash.

out of contract in June. What did you expect?

I'd rather pocket 1.5m and get rid of his wages now than have him in the stands for the rest of the season.
A little bit more than that considering we have about 4 players? We didn’t have to sell, we should’ve told them to cough up 5m or wait 6 months.

He completely failed as a winger though after his first or second season. I should have been more precise in my saying as talent, should have said attacking talent. Maybe he should have been a fullback from the start of his career

Fantastic business by United. Depleting an already depleted squad. It’s not like our defenders get injured a lot or anything. This is great, fantastic stuff clearing out the dead wood.

Good luck to him.

The squad gets smaller and smaller...
Fullback is the position we have some talents though and Ole likes his talents. If Shaw actually was able to stay fit and put in a 90 min shift regularly instead of dropping at the 50 minute mark, this move would be more positive.

What would we benefit more from, keeping Ashley Young and missing out on roughly 4 million or letting him go to a big club, giving him a massive thank you and letting some of our youngsters play there.

Bets of luck, hope he wins a title there. No ill feeling towards him but not a lot of fondness either.

We have Laird and Dalot for cover, I don't get the depletion complain on this. We are short in numbers in midfield and attack not at full backs.

He’s a frustrating player at times but he’s certainly not top of the list when it comes to clearing out the deadwood IMO. He’s still got a lot of well needed experience and always gives it his all. I’d like to have seen him stay on a bit longer to be honest, even if it’s just in a limited capacity.

He wasn't good enough to make that step up, which is fine. Not even sure he was truly expected to be this world beater. But his attitude, effort and drive to make himself valuable for Fergie, LVG, Jose, and Ole shows how important he was as a squad player. He had his roll at United and did it well and won a lot. United would be a lot better off his many other players the past 7 years had his professionalism, accountability, and drive.

Glad he finally feck off, never been a United player and ended up here only because of Glazer’s no value policy.

Maguire to be Club captain then.

He wouldn't have been used much for the rest of the season with the Williams performing well.
