Never good enough and the fact he stayed so long is a testament to our own decline
And give me a break with the great/loyal servant crap
He was getting paid 100k bags a week for woeful performances yet he still abandoned ship mid season the very second another club came in for him
Oh come off it, he's 34 years old, he's got maybe a year left if that... Who wouldn't want to go experience playing in Italy? Instead of sitting on our bench... He'd be mad to not want to go

Strange timing considering our squad weakness but good luck to him.
Wasn't world class but did a job.
Good luck to him
we have enough at fullback. AWB is nailed on with Dalot and Laird seemingly considered suitable options. Likewise at left back Shaw and Williams appear to be sharing the responsibility and Dalot can also play there. OGS has also spoken of TFM being back in contention and his better games for us came at LB and/or RB. We’re well stocked with 6 options

Good luck to Young. Grew to have respect for his effort, professionalism and leadership during a difficult period. I can’t say I want him to win trophies... only cos that means Lukaku would also get medals haha

Think he’ll do well at Inter. Honestly his feck up vs Barca showed how far our club was allowed to fall by the Glazer imposters. At no other top club would wingers constantly get moved to fb just to save money. If the Glazers owned Liverpool, Karius would still be their number 1 keeper.

Good servant, good pro, but great to see another piece of deadwood shipped out. Squad is being properly stripped down now and bad eggs and those without the required ability are being moved on.

We have been moaning about it for years, don’t start complaining now it’s finally happening!!

Good luck Ashley, hope you win Série A

Good riddance to bad rubbish. The poster child for the current state of the club. The day we started coveting players like him is when we started laying the building blocks for the mediocrity we have become.

What a weird timing, but then it's obviously his last chance of playing for a big club abroad. He was frustrating at times, and to think that he was bought in to replace Giggs... but it's very hard to dislike him. All the best!

All our squad worries have been in midfield and front, back five we are sorted, will miss his, shall we say, professional shithousery though.

Good luck to him but this is few years to late, look the stream of United captains and then you have freaking Young but best part of all, which isnt his fault, you have those who see him as loyal servant, pure gold.
In what way was he not a "loyal servant"? Criticise his quality all you want, but he is the very definition of a loyal servant. Sacrificed his natural position to cover where we were lacking and reinvented himself for the team, and always gave 100% effort.

Best of luck to him. Slightly odd decision for him with it only being a 6 month guaranteed contract. Feels like he might as well have stayed here and left next summer. Though if he is lucky he will manage to win the title over there I guess.

Losing to Comeback Winning!
1. Top work ethics, good model professional. Gave it his all almost every games. Don't remember him complaining when getting dropped and actually fought his way into getting games. His charity works are admirable.

2. Goals and assists, vs Arsenal is the best highlights.

3. Pocketed Salah.

Should've been a squad player, no doubt he'll be a very good one, alas our current state "forced" to use him as a starter over the years.

Many players before him I want to go first, but it's time. Thankfully Inter wanted him. We need to get rid of him eventually anyway, earlier the better as we're not really using him anymore with young bloods Wall and Will stamping the places ahead of him.

Professional, gave his all consistently. A good player and captain who served the club well.

Wish him all the best in this new chapter of his career.

Said my bit in the other thread. All the best Ash. Looks smart in that Inter shirt.

Can see him becoming one of our pundits in the future.

Completely out of order the lot of you!

He may have been better before than today, but he has been a loyal servant who has always given his all through his 8,5 years. There are enough threads to spread your toxic posts on. Try to keep this one civil ay hemmmmmrgey

He's been underrated by many, who seem to just project the shortcomings of the team on him. He was consistently good, if not great, but carried his own weight, and always gave 100%. He was a solution on the pitch, not a problem.

Those who think they have a right to vent their displeasure at the club by sagging him off, shame on them. Speaks more about their class than his.

According to Laurie Whitwell at The Athletic (generally very reliable) Utd didn’t offer him any kind of contract until Jan 9th by which time he’d already agreed terms with Inter. Good luck to him, a proper old pro.

At his official introduction, What does the sign behind him “not for everyone” mean?
It means that just like Lukaku, only a select few can put up with him. Conte is a master at this dark arts, He can gather unusable components from the junkyard and create himself a fully functional Robot.

He gave us many good moments and had lots of good seasons. Great squad player on the whole. Thorough professional and from what I've read a strong leader, too. All the best Ash!

Never really been a fan of him. Glad he's gone but it leaves the quad even thinner. We need some new players desperately.

I do wish him well though and hope he does ok at Inter.
