Ah we didn't need him anyway. I'm guessing this will soon turn into another Ole Out thread.
Yeah, because that's how agents work. They see their player thriving and immediately hand power over his future back to the club, in order to miss out on a massive payday when he moves again. Can’t we always renew and update the information in the contract? His attitude would have changed if he was here at United and might have accepted a different contract had we propose it to him a year later. I would have definitely bent over backward for him especially at that price.
Are you a 13 year old girl? Get a grip on your emotions and act like a man ffs.One of Ole biggest failure at United. How he wasn’t able to lure him is a big warning sign for any United supporters. It is obvious this kid is talented and Ole’s connection and also managing one of the biggest club in the world!!.......This is a sackable offense. I will not forgive Ole for this.
We lost Mikkel Diskerud to the Yanks, we're not about to lose anyone to the Anglos! Is it too late for England to claim him (born and first few years in England I think)?
He might be if we buck our ideas up.It's just a temporary move for him, he'll be here within 3 years...

Exactly. I seem to remember Sir Alex saying if you see a world class talent, and it's available -- you sign it. Saying that, they did want to stipulate a release clause in any contract, with any club, so I can understand why we e eventually didn't sign him. We've missed our chance now -- he'll end up at Bayern before United.
Thank feck for that Ole Norwegian connection there. Would hamper Greenwood's progress.
That dude only qualified for USA though 1 of his parents. Haaland was born and raised (kinda) in England! You've stolen him from us!We lost Mikkel Diskerud to the Yanks, we're not about to lose anyone to the Anglos!
So basically worst case scenario we'd have him for 1.5 seasons upwards before he fecked off somewhere. Just enough time for Greenwood to develop then and us to perhaps come back to the CL.Exactly. Who should we hire after Ole?One of Ole biggest failure at United. How he wasn’t able to lure him is a big warning sign for any United supporters. It's a great clause. For the agents of any player we tried to sign from that day onwards, whether that is current players getting new deals or transfers. So basically worst case scenario we'd have him for 1.5 seasons upwards before he fecked off somewhere. I mean it's not that bad clause, is it? But we're too big club for that I guess.
You must enjoy United playing in the Europa league year in year out. This game requires a lot of emotions. Blood, thunder, passion, sweat, tears. If you don’t have emotions then you are complicit to the drop in standards. Are you a 13 year old girl? Get a grip on your emotions and act like a man ffs.
We didn't dodge no bullet. Its not about that twat woody. This guy would have helped us get to the top again and we could have moved him on once we're up there. Both parties happyWe dodged a bullet here. Imagine this place hating on OGS/Ed for giving such a player a £50m release clause.
Meh, doubt everybody would try imposing such a clause on us but I guess that comes with territory of drifting in the place we've been drifting for the last couple of years. It's a great clause. Reading everything, if seems as if solskjaer was the only thing that appealed him to us. It's the people in charge money who decided against him.One of Ole biggest failure at United. 1. PochettinoWho should we hire after Ole?
Why wouldn't they try? You think when we give a player a wage increase, the other players' agents don't add a few more thousand a week to their demands when it's their players turn?Meh, doubt everybody would try imposing such a clause on us but I guess that comes with territory of drifting in the place we've been drifting for the last couple of years.
If we signed him and he turned out to be a goalscoring machine in the EPL, you really think we’d be happy to be forced to move him on due to a release clause? We didn't dodge no bullet. I agree, short of SAF coming out of retirement, I wouldn't bother with anyone else if we have a shot of getting Poch (which I think we would have if we tried).1. Pochettino
2.
3. Nagelsman, Rose, Tuchel
Didn't want to afford him.How come you lot were not in for him?
Try is the key word here, we wouldn't have to agree to it on every ocassion though, no? I mean it's not like the mid-tier/long-term players would have such demands anyway as there wouldn't be as much 'courting' from other clubs. I guess that had we not been inept, it wouldn't have been the other players' wages that would be the measuring point for our targets' wages (how would they obtain such exact info anyway?) but the target player's merits, ability, and so on, and so forth. It's not like Pogba's wages determine whether the agent of James or some other AWB asks for more money. Why wouldn't they try? You think when we give a player a wage increase, the other players' agents don't add a few more thousand a week to their demands when it's their players turn?
It's natural for players to move to better teams as their careers progress. If Raiola is his agent then he is best off elsewhere. If he scored that debut Hat-trick for Utd today, the headline tomorrow would be 'Erling eye's up Madrid move next season'
That's hindsight though - that's because he is currently at Dortmund and we wish that he was instead at United. We didn't dodge no bullet. Its not about that twat woody. This guy would have helped us get to the top again and we could have moved him on once we're up there. Both parties happy
If the release clause was higher, i would have taken him.Dortmund will enjoy him for 2 and a half years and sell him for 60m. It isnt a bad deal at all, especially if they win something and he makes them competitive. Pretty smart and will pay offWho would have thought that signing one of the best talents around could lead to that?
You, and others noting this, do realise the release clause essentially just puts a cap on the limit Dortmund get when selling him? His overall next transfer could still be for £150m+, but it will be him, his family and his agents carving most of that up in agent fees and signing on fees. Release clauses mean feck all unless the player, and by extension his agent, exercise contract options to demand the move if the release clause is triggered. Nobody is getting Haaland for circa £50m if he has a good time at Dortmund, because Haaland and Raiola won’t agree to any move unless they are serious recompensed. He's got such a low release clause anyway - really means cr*p all.
Such horrible defending aswell.
