Sadly can't find the tweet about with us, but we were supposedly linked to this guy a while back. I assume we'd be in the mix. Anyone here know anything?

Re: George Tanner on loan at Morecambe

It is suggested Tanner could be re-called by United this month and sold for a profit before he is allowed to leave the club for free at the end of the season.

Morecambe have already moved to recruit Burnley right back Ryan Cooney on loan and Adams admits Tanner could return to United shortly.

“George has a recall in his contract, so they (United) can do that in January – which they might do," he admitted to The Visitor.

“We’ve obviously got him on a season-long loan in that respect, so that’s the situation.

La Provence which is a local Marseille based media outlet linked him to us awhile back. L'Equipe are now saying that Dortmund and Leipzig head the queue of clubs chasing him.

Alex Fojticek returned from his loan at Stalybridge Celtic.

“Alex was a pleasure to have in the dressing room, he was a big part of the team spirit we’ve built this season,” Stalybridge manager Simon Haworth said.

“Alex is a fantastic young lad and we wish him every success.”
Weird, it’s now confirmed that he’ll stay with Stalybridge until the end of the season.

Sounds like we'll may lost both Chong (to Juventus?) and Gomes on free transfers this month as their contracts are up at the end of the season? Would be disappointed to say the least, I was really hoping to see them both stay and get more opportunities next season with the 1st team.

I don't understand why Madrid can keep everyone and loan them out and we can't? Chong is a left-footer who can play RW, which basically everyone needs, and there have to be La Liga and Champo sides desperate for a playmaker like Gomes.

Heard nothing certain on Chong yet but I think it's looking quite good as he just did a big interview with ManUtd.com and he nor the club wouldn't if they didn't think he would stay in my opinion. Gomes has been getting some gametime and not extending his contract was said to be the reason why neither were in matchday squads earlier. Especially with the overhaul in midfield coming up, I'd say Gomes will probably stay as well as he'll get a lot of chances next season to play.
Yeah, I think Chong is staying, I remember a few years back when Gomes was due for renewal it played out the same way as it is with Chong this year. With Gomes, am less sure.

I hope this is true! I've seen some people on the main forum/reddit lose faith in Chong already but they need to be patient, he's got a lot of talent and will get better with experience

Would be nice to get Jude Bellingham, but with that kind of money for 16 years old who is playing in CH side senior football, I guess we would need to give some guarantees that he will be introduced to first team in like one year or so. If I am the parent, I guess I would say it is better for my kid to develop in senior side (where already proved he is ready at least for CH level) than to play for U23 team. He is 17 when new season starts, so for example giving away 12m would probably mean loan till the end of the season, and first team chances with us next year.

It is similar to Mejbri I guess. There is some kind of deal there, and I would be surprised if Mejbri is not in the first team squad next year. He is 17 years old in a few days.

Not sure about Emeran as he is nowhere to be seen (I guess injured long term), as I think we paid heavily for him as well.

I agree, its a tough question. I am all for signing youth talents, but I am somewhat put off by the Chelsea loan-army system.

I am not sure there is anything necessarily "wrong" with it, but it just leaves a bad taste.

So I am not sure on what the correct course of action is, and I am glad its not my decision to make!

Last we heard about Emeran was that he is training but we are cautious as he is just back from long term injury. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable here can update on his status?

Also whatever happened to that Sociedad kid Mejia? I think he got injured in one game but I haven't seen any report on him after that.

Russian Media reporting that Pinyaev played for our mix of u15/16 against Burnley u17 and scored a very nice goal.

@jb8521 @Beaucoup would know if that's true or not but their director also says that he was the best player on the pitch.

Not sure I didn’t watch the game, thought it was Burnley’s U16’s they played, I heard Utd lost 9-1

@jb8521 doing what he does best, finding and spreading info on our academy!

Midfielder/defender, born in 2004, has been part of the US youth setup.

U23 has played two games since the 16th of December. Their next game is 31 January.

U18 last played 13th of December in an FA Youth Cup game. Their last league fixture was 7th December. Their next fixture is 21st January in FA Youth Cup. Their next league game is 1 February. Absolute joke.

I don't understand why they have to follow a strict league setup for the youth. At that level, I would argue it's better to simply give them more matches than to have an equal 1 home, 1 away league setup. More matches doesn't mean you have to play the kids every match. It allows for more rotation which is better for every player than the current set up.

12 sides per league? A joke. Make it 24 sides per league. Who cares if it's uneven in terms of home and away matches, so long as there are more matches for the kids to play in and get a better development path.

I agree, more games are what's needed. Or playing against each side three times. PL doesn't seem to know either, they are changing this from year to year.

By that logic results don’t matter so you may as well just play friendlies. Friendlies in which we are already often playing. U18s play plenty of games. They take part in several tournaments alongside the league, along with plenty of friendlies. They are also school kids who deserve extended breaks at the holidays just like every other kid.

Where would 24 teams come from? The leagues are split by region for a reason. These kids are in school. They don’t need to be carted around on from North to south every other weekend.

U23s don’t play enough, the u18s play plenty. But even the u23s play friendlies. And the issue with u23s is they don’t have proper squads so clubs would struggle with full schedules at times.

No, because you would still crown a champion so results wouldn't be totally meaningless. It's just that the "fairness" that the traditional league has (home and away fixtures against every side) would deteriorate. However, I would argue that the loss in fairness wouldn't be as great as the gain our youngsters get from more fixtures.

It doesn't necessarily have to be 24 sides. It could line up with the PL. Point is, the u23s for example having us split up from Chelsea, City, etc... makes no sense.

Maybe my proposition should only be aimed at the u23s because the u23s don't have the same prestigious u19 uefa youth league some PL clubs enjoy. My point is only to say that they should have more matches and having more clubs in a competition could fix that. Or as Mickson suggested having them play the same side 3 times a year as opposed to 2.

What the small leagues usually do is a play-off league - top 6 teams play each other twice as the upper group for the champion and the and the rest play lower group league to fight relegation.

@KM move the Pinyaev info and interview into a new thread?
Was waiting for the deal to be confirmed tbf.

He was at Anfield yesterday, in the away end with the United fans. Safe to say -- he's a red.

Weren't Arsenal favourites to sign Pye? How good is he?

Anyone know how Kieran O’hara is doing? Is he out of contract at the end of the season?
