for example. If we have some brilliantly planned bright future surely we’ve told pogba and he wants to be part of it? That’s absolutely not the case going by his agent. I have a feeling we will continue to sign 3 players each summer with balancing the books very much in mind. We will sign 2 starters and a punt and however many youth prospects we have lined up. That wouldn’t be so bad if we were spotting the right players but I don’t think that’s fast enough progress for a lot of fans or for a player who was promised the world. I for one am as low as I’ve ever been as a united fan but I think if we sign superstar youth players (Havertz, Sancho etc) then keep adding a best of British core then we will compete again. Our scouting and slow transfer team have been appalling and they seem to be getting worse do worry about that. Most of all I only want players who are coming here to prove something special on the pitch and not in the fashion world or online. Maguires been pretty shite but he’s playing injured and it’s his first season in an injury ravaged and thin squad. Fred good. James good. Awb good. Our last few signings have all shown a lot of desire so I think they are getting that bit right at last. Are they potentially really top players though? I have my doubts and worries about all of it. I don’t think our scouts are any good and I don’t think we are a big enough draw for the obvious best players anymore either.

I think it could be done in 2 years possibly. Sancho RW and a top class midfielder should be prioritised at first. Hannibal Mejbri will also be given the opportunity to stake a claim for one of those midfield positions in the next 12 to 18 months. Bruno I think will be signed in the current window as the #10. That leaves us needing a LB and Striker which can be added to the squad in a very economical way if we adopt a sensible approach.

Just saying, we’ve spent significant amounts of money (relevant to the time) before on youth level players and many of them have not made the grade. Tomlinson, Henrique, Lee Martin (the other one), TFM to name a few.

We may plan for him to join up with the first team squad in 2 years or whatever but there’s no guarantees. We need first team level players in our equations now
