Just saying, we’ve spent significant amounts of money (relevant to the time) before on youth level players and many of them have not made the grade. Tomlinson, Henrique, Lee Martin (the other one), TFM to name a few.

We may plan for him to join up with the first team squad in 2 years or whatever but there’s no guarantees. We need first team level players in our equations now
I don't think any of those deals come close to the potential we could eventually shell out for Mejbri. The deal with Monaco
could potentially reach €10m.

But I thought he was happy with the squad? It's taken him a home loss against Burnley to realise Jesse and the lads aren't good enough.

The thing that kina blows my my mind is that we are currently

- 4 in midfield (Fellaini, Herrera, Mctominay, Pogba)
- 2 in strikers (Lukaku, Sanchez)

And thats before you talk about upgrading players like Shaw, Pererra, Lingard, Matic, Mata etc.

Perhaps a few get replaced by kids, but those are still 2-3 years away before delivering consistently.

And all of that simply gets us into 3rd place.

Its a HUGE job, and will take at least 4 years, assume we make no mistakes.
That says it all really.

Not to disrespect some in here, But if you genuinely think Jaden Sancho is going to come here than you need to take the rose tinted glasses off.

Loosely translated as: Ed, the Glazers and the PR guy think that 600 million* people are gullible, trusting, passive, imbecilic, subordinate pricks who can be blatantly lied to, and have no function in the world apart from increasing their bank balance.

*whatever the figure is-no doubt declining all the time

Coutinho, Emre Can, Fernandes, Koulibaly, Sancho, Maddison/Grealish, Cavani are all available in this window for the right price. They keep saying the funds are available and then refusing to pay a penny more than their valuation.

City, Chelsea and PSG all had to over pay when they were building teams and didn't have Champions League football to fall back on. You are never going to pay fair market value when the world knows you're desperate...

When is saw the headline i was laughing. Not I'm just angry.
We have been there before, we know the drill.
We have a problem to sign 1 player in January, surely we will get six the summer.

Last year around this time the exact same thing was promised.

Yeah right.

I agree it’s a lot of money if he hits all his targets but there’s many a slip between cup and mouth. Especially with youth players

Yeah, I'm sure he already relishes in idea of coming to us and playing in Europa (even if that happens). The only thing that could lure him is possibly the money but then we've heard that we're to trim overpaid players and balance our wage bill. That's why thinking only 'long term' and 'rebuilding' is, ironically, as short sighted as it can get.

To be fair I'd be happy if Pogba, McT, Martial and Rashford playing 40 games this season.

His main aim was to have an exciting young squad built around Pogba, but yeah, that wasn't the case.

I really would like to see Sancho play in the Premier League just to see if we could get third time lucky as Kagawa and Mikki were ripping it up at Dortmund and yet they fizzled out at Old Trafford.
Yet again I would say that little piece in The Times is some lazy journalist throwing it out there because I will bet money there is no way we will sign another FB in the foreseeable future.

Not a snowball in Hell's chance, and I think same with Maddison too as he will be a key player for Leicester, with Champions League football.
I don't think its even worth mentioning these two anymore, they are well and truly off the menu.

Squad with the “six new additions”

GK: DDG, Romero, Grant
RB: AWB, Dalot
CB: Maguire, Lindelof, Axel, Jones, Rojo, Smalling
LB: Williams, Shaw, NEW FB
CM: Pogba, McT, Fred, Matic, NEW CM, NEW CM
CAM: Pereira, Mata, Lingard, NEW 10
Forwards: Rashford, Martial, James, Greenwood, NEW WINGER, NEW STRIKER

This is merely replacing those who’ve left, new FB for Young, 2CMs for Herrera and Fellaini, forwards to replace Sanchez and Lukaku and...can’t think of who the no.10 is immediately replacing.

Now, assuming our world class scouting and transfer negotiating teams continue to work at their electric rate thus far, that will take two more summer windows to sign six players. By the time that gets done we’re likely to have a squad that looks like:

GK: DDG, Romero - presume Grant won’t have his contract renewed and Henderson will still be on loan somewhere
RB: AWB, Dalot
CB: Maguire, Lindelof, Axel, maybe Jones - two of Smalling/Jones/Rojo sold
LB: Williams, Shaw, NEW FB
CM: McT, Fred, NEW CM, NEW CM - Pogba hounded out, Matic released
CAM: Lingard, NEW 10 - we will apparently never let Jesse go
Forwards: Rashford, Martial, James, Greenwood, NEW WINGER, NEW STRIKER

So even with these fictitious 6 new signings we’d still need 4/5 then to have any kind of decent-sized squad!

The task is so much bigger than even that article would have any naive fan believe.
Spare yourself the effort,
It's not going to happen.

Yet again fans falling for it.

We know this is not going to happen, we just about got 3 done last summer after being told we can do things no clubs can, money is there.

Even since Jose, when he came out and said I thought Mnutd can buy anyone. It is not true, if we cant get a signing from a club that needs money, player wants to join then what makes us think we will get 6?

Neil Ashton earning his money already...
I'd say this is terrible PR unless the club is actually prepared to take action. Otherwise the empty promises will just enrage the fans further.

I mean it's probably true, just there is no time scale to it.

We will hire and fire 3 managers in that time , we might need 6 players after that, we might only need 5 or suddenly need 8. This is what happens when you jump manager to manager with no plan

We have nobody to sell anymore. So I assume we have 500 million in the bank ready to spend? If not, then we're looking at 4-6 years time before we have 6 new players. And by that time others need replacing and the whole thing starts again.
Conclusion: spend big in the next 2 summers or we're screwed for a long long time.

Even if true, this would take us 3 x summers to complete.

Bear in mind, that with each of those windows, another 1-2 first teamers will be considered deadwood that need replacing and boom - you've got yourself a perpetual, never-ending rebuilding job.
