Attack on his home is disgraceful, nobody should be condoning this behaviour. Lucky his family wasn't at home. Imagine if it was you and your children at home and there was lads in Balaclavas outside. I hate them vile chants too, by all means sing Woodward and Glazers out but the vile stuff is disgraceful.

Woodward isn't the only problem at this club by getting rid of him all our problems won't magically go away.

Disgusting? It was wrong no two ways about it but disgusting? They threw some flares over a huge big gate at the end of the day. It was hardly crime of the century was it? Shouldn't have happened but it was hardly disgusting was it? Nobody was attacked. Nobody was harmed. Nobody was even home.
Post us your address and let us know when you arent home so we can go round and do the same at yours since its all good by you.

No one was home - doesnt equate to his wife and kids having to read about this this morning and feel absolutely terrified. feck me does it even need to be said.

He's one of the worst things to ever happen to Man Utd...

His reign has been absolutely disastrous for the club.

If you simply replaced him with an able DoF things would dramatically improve at Utd.

I do think this type of thing will have a very real effect on how much someone would want to take the director of football role if we are actually hiring one, especially assuming we would target someone who has a lot of other options. It is abundantly clear that it would be a very challenging job with no guarantees of success, seeing that this could be the consequence to failing might make someone think twice.
It doesn’t stop people from working at similar roles at other clubs with way crazier fans.

No it's not pathetic. What's pathetic is the over reaction from people. I said it was wrong. Nobody can defend that behaviour. It's just pure stupidity and we're all in agreement. But labelling it disgusting is such a snowflake reaction. Disgusting would be actual physical abuse or people hurling stuff at him in the street etc. Chucking a few flares over a fence isn't disgusting. It's just stupid.

We live in a country in which an MP was shot and stabbed to death - bear in mind that that offence was committed by someone who had 'strong opinions' too...

I know that but it's on the owners to fire him and hire someone new it's not his fault he is still in his position. Do we trust the Glazers to replace him with someone competent? I certainly don't. Our owners are the ones who left him in the job this long

Indeed.

Try and pull what the Glazers / Woodward have done to Utd at Barca / Real / Liverpool / Boca etc and things would've gotten A LOT uglier, A LOT more quickly.

The owners at Utd have had a charmed time for their swindle.

Man Utd is a pretty unique club at the moment. We are a pressure cooker of publicity in a similar vein to Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern Munich but we have absolutely none of the stability. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this comes into the thinking of anyone we approach.

I think similar things happened or were threatened at Barcelona when Laporta first took over but they started winning again quickly enough that it never got truly ugly.

Almost £100m per season has left our club since 2005 for NON footballing reasons. Debt related basically and dividends to the Glazers. None of that is Ed's fault and I don't even like Woodward.

The Glazers are the main issue. They are parasites that have sucked the life out of our club.

It is indeed a weird thing to be proud of.
...again another poster devoid of humour and forgetting one of the most famous quotes associated with our club.

It was a joke pal, nice of you to back your buddy up though who misunderstood and then one step further having a dig at my character.

The "fire device at doorstep" or similar is actually common and on occasions leads to unintended large fires. It seems to be the common go-to move for frustrated or jilted knobheads. They never quite know the extent of damage they could potentially cause and whenever the worst is to happen the law doesn't go easy on such people whether they directly intended it or not.

Again - without Woodward the Glazer takeover would likely not have happened.

Woodward was instrumental in the takeover.

Woodward is a key part in the Glazer regime and takeover.

He's also acted as DoF for the downfall of Man Utd - he is undoubtedly one of the worst things to happen to Man Utd.

Doesn't matter how bad he is at his job there is absolutely no excuse to go to his house and throw flares into his garden.
None whatsoever.

Completely unacceptable, attacking a mans’ home and family because you’re not happy with the job he’s doing. It’s a game ffs, yeah we’re shite right now but all of us of a certain age have seen more success than most football fans could ever dream of. These morons probably feel proud of themselves, fecking idiots.

I’m sure prospects think about this and a lot more, but at the end of the day, it’s Manchester United. The role will always attract no matter how hot it’s cooking. It’s like players who desire to go to Madrid or Barcelona. They know the fans will have zero patience with poor form and will get roasted in an instant, but the top talent still want to go there whether or not they are winning.

Neil Ashton used to work for the Sun. The Sun have been spinning pro-Woody PR for a couple weeks now. The decision to hire Ashton backfired as did the pro-Woody articles. The Sun had a photographer at the scene and got an exclusive on the story. Nobody was home.

You're mad to laugh in the face of people who are at least a bit suspicious.

Not only that this behaviour is unbecoming of a classy club, and generally unacceptible, it also weakens any sensible argument against Woodward being in charge.

Now it will be, if you just criticize what he is doing "you're one of those guys" even if those guys are just bunch of morons.

This is the last thing we needed. Makes any fan protest that is justified and legal as part of this attack in most people's eyes...

I find this case a bit iffy. So some idiots had thrown some flares over a huge big gate in a house that is empty and strangely enough one of the Sun's journalists happened to be there videoing everything. Why didn't he report the police? Can anyone please remind me our new PR guy's former's job?

Believe what you all want and assume those of us who aren't having it wasn't a set up all live in our parents basements. Lets just wait and see what the next leak is and whether or not anyone at all is questioned let alone arrested for it.

Exclusive in The Sun coming up.

Why are you linking the two things...?

Acknowledging the destruction of Utd by Glazers / Woodward doesn't bare any relevance on a couple of morons chucking flares at one of his mansions.

It doesn't absolve either party.

And it absolutely should not enter into the conversation of Utd fans wanting to protest their disgraceful ownership.

I'd like to think most people would find a group wearing balaclavas, hurling flares at the home of a family with two young children in an attempt to intimidate them disgusting and unacceptable. Not a 'snowflake' reaction at all.

I believe in every conspiracy theory going, including the one about Jack the Ripper charging me for Amazon Prime, but I'm really not sure about FlareGate.

Bringing the chant into the centre of attention is a bit silly. As graphic as it is, it's a generic chant that has been sung for years. It's also a bit of a stretch to think that this wouldn't happen if the the fans sang something less over the top like, I don't know, "feck off Woodward" or "We want Woodward out". You're singling him out either way.

It's wrong but i could understand what they did.the board don't listen to the fans so then try something else.at least somebody got to do it and they did and i respect that.maybe it effected the glazers as well.

But i agree when It comes to his young
Kids you can't do that
It's wrong.... but you understand what they did?

Clearly then you don't think it's wrong.

These are not fans of our club - they are mindless thugs. Protest outside the stadium. Not outside someones home - throwing in flares. It's disgusting mate. Great publicity for our club hey?

Yes they are. If you're a United fan who is a thug, you're still a United fan. If you're a racist matchgoing fan, you're still a fan. These aren't mutually exclusive things.

It's actually such an irresponsible and cheap cop-out to just flippantly pretend they're not fans.

Do you think that the Glazers will be persuaded to let their cash generated ruffian with sensitive and well articulated arguments? I am against violence but the boat need to be rocked and they need to get scared else they will never sell and nothing will ever change.

Also I find it strange how these bullies would invite a journalist of the Sun to film them while they are doing the outrageous crime of throwing flares at an empty house. What was he doing there? Who invited him? Why no one stopped him filming? Why he didn't call the police? Is there a United high rank official who has links with the Sun?

I take your point but I disagree. These people think they're fans of the club. However doing what they did? Gives the club bad publicity and paints us negatively. Would fans really do that?

Got to laugh at the outrage from the scousers. Shocked and disgusted about some Utd fans throwing a couple of flares at an empty building but lobbing flares, bottles and other missiles at a moving Man City bus with dozens of passengers is just a bit of harmless banter.
