Nonchalantly scoring the winner...
Also I find it strange how these bullies would invite a journalist of the Sun to film them while they are doing the outrageous crime of throwing flares at an empty house. What was he doing there? Who invited him? Why no one stopped him filming? Why he didn't call the police?
These points are genuinely very odd, and need solid explanations.

I'd like to think most people would find a group wearing balaclavas, hurling flares at the home of a family with two young children in an attempt to intimidate them disgusting and unacceptable. Not a 'snowflake' reaction at all.
Oh you are out of order there according to some. Its all ok because no one was home and no one got hurt. :houllier:

Id say the mans Kids feel pretty terrified this morning but hey, thats ok. Absolutely mental.

I find this case a bit iffy. So some idiots had thrown some flares over a huge big gate in a house that is empty and strangely enough one of the Sun's journalists happened to be there videoing everything. Why didn't he report the police? Can anyone please remind me our new PR guy's former's job?
It is clearly a PR stunt...

Totally wrong. No two ways about it.

What would the punishment be for those that are caught if the ever are? They didn't break and enter. They didn't hurt or harm anyone. They have caused minimal damage by Graffiti and whatever the flares damaged, probably nothing as they went out on the lawn or pathway. They won't get more than a caution if even that. A smack on the wrist.

They are just stupid kids / idiots. Far more disgusting things go on every single day.

EDIT: Oh and his wife and kids live in his other house in London. We have our offices down there.

Genuine question -

How did the Sun have a photographer there when it happened?
One possibility is that the Sun is the biggest british paper, these lads wants to do something that will make some noise, therefore they contact the biggest paper.

No it's not pathetic. What's pathetic is the over reaction from people. I said it was wrong. Nobody can defend that behaviour. It's just pure stupidity and we're all in agreement. But labelling it disgusting is such a snowflake reaction. Disgusting would be actual physical abuse or people hurling stuff at him in the street etc. Chucking a few flares over a fence isn't disgusting. It's just stupid.
This is only a step away from the guy being attacked in the street. Maybe he is with his kids when it happens. I doubt these guys knew whether he or his family were home last night - they probably hoped that he was, otherwise what was the point. It was disgusting. Unforgivable.

Are you serious...?

You honestly think anyone would essentially stitch themselves like that?

And further still - you think the Sun would receive that info - turn up, film it without telling Police...?

That would make the Sun accessories to the crime.

When I came in the UK I was stunned of how racist and poorly professional the media is. Politics in Malta is everything and the mediaa quality is crap and can be ridiculously biased but some things being read on papers would never make their way in Malta especially surrounding foreigners. Soon I'd learnt that the only media news you can trust is the BBC with the likes of the independent being reasonably trustworthy, that most right wing media is ridiculously biased and that the likes of the Sun, the Telegraph and the Daily star aren't even worth picking dog's crap with.

They didn't do it to not be noticed and these aren't the actions of criminal masterminds. And who says that the Sun didn't tell the police?

I don't really care what the punishment is, or who did it - being kids means nothing, kids are stabbing each other to death in this country... but they are just kids right? Just because there are worse crimes, doesn't make this any less of a crime - they are just supposed to clean up the mess/damage and go about like it never happened right? Jesus.

There was a Sun's journalist tagging around with these criminals. I mean that what criminals do, ie they inform Sun's journalist to tag along and film them in the act. Anyway, surely this Sun's employee must have warned Ashton whom in turn must have dropped Woodward a call. Which might explain why Woodward and his family weren't at home.

The big question is, why didn't this Sun's employee warned the police beforehand?

Cmon mate - if they told the Sun that they were going to do it the Sun would have to alert Police immediately.

If the Sun knew this was happening they would inform authorities.
Who told you that the Sun didn't do that? Also keep in mind that we are talking about people who filmed and published their crime on the internet.

PS: You asked a question and I offered an alternative nothing else.

Huh? Havent the Sun just taken the Video that is circulating and done a story about it?

Where is it confirmed that they were even there or had prior knowledge of it?

Ah so they basically warned the same guys, our new PR person happened to have previously worked with. Not the Guardian. Not the Independent. Not BBC but the Sun.

It's a horrible thing to happen but I wonder if the perpetrators ever considered that it might actually be counter productive too? 6 years of shocking mismanagement of the 'biggest club in the world' , the fanbase has finally had enough, talk of a mass walkout at OT and then this happens, and apart from being vile it actually stifles the momentum that is building.

The sun is the biggest paper, if you want something out you go to them, they are not trying to publish a solid article that would benefit from BBC's credibility. The Sun is what people read.

This is getting surreal...

If the Sun alerted the Police - the Police would've had officers there. They wouldn't know how serious the 'attack' was going to be and in the current climate they would shut it down, hard and fast.

But I don't for a second believe that a group of hooligans who'd managed to find out Woodward's Manchester address would then happen to phone up the Sun - the same paper utterly loathed by Utd fans, and whom Woodward has just hired a PR guru from - to advertise their intentions.

Exactly. Stabbings in the street. That's disgusting and evil. Bit of context....finally. Throwing a flare isn't in same league. I have been to huge outdoor gigs/festivals where people light flares and sometimes even chuck them.

Those who did this were idiots and stupid but I love it how it's being played out as crime of the century.

From my experience in the UK, it's what gullible and close minded people tend to read. I mean look at their website. It's almost impossible to read an article with all those videos and huge image. It's like what my baby girl would be interested in

Bingo. I have a very sceptical way of thinking when it comes to anything that appears in the media. Any other newspaper would be iffy - how good does your timing have to be? But the former newspaper of the spin doctor Woodward has just hired? It is difficult to not be sceptical.

You really don't get do you? I find this stuff disgusting (as do many others) - of course there are levels, but this is still disgusting, unacceptable behavior.

You hope he gets scared into leaving his home?!? Are you actually saying this???
Whatever the case, the only way to get Woodward fired (or removed as DoF), is to send a message to the Glazers.
And I don't mean attacking their homes. I mean, a protest at the ground before, during and after some of the games.
The chants during recent matches, against Woodward and The Glazers have definitely hit Woodward. He is definitely feeling the heat.

We know nothing about the timing though, for all we know officers may have been around a few minutes after the pictures that we saw, we don't have enough informations to make definitive conclusions. If you think that it's 100% made up fair enough but in that case, your initial question isn't genuine.

They're idiots what can I say. Just feel like it's getting blown out of all proportion which it is. Kids set off fireworks (out of their hands) in the streets near residential buildings all the time. It's stupid and annoying but it's not a crime I describe as 'disgusting' personally. People love to blow everything out of proportion in this country.

This is the question everybody must be asking themselves. Luckiest reporter in the world. Next week exclusive interview with one of the "fans".
Sun also have sources which explains why they did it.

Do people actually believe this is not a stunt from Ed's new PR firm which is also co-owned by The Sun's Neil Ashton?

Do we have evidence it was a Sun reporter? They've not just purchased rights for use of the video?
