Loaning him out will be the most moronic move I've ever seen. Tr really makes no sense.

tbf to Rojo I always felt like he was trying. I don't really have anything else positive to say about his time here. Even during that little run of form he had, he should have missed half those games through suspension.

Well Axel is back in training, Jones will never leave, Fosu-Mensah might even get some minutes and we have Lindelöf and Maguire starting. No real prospect of playing time for Rojo and if we cannot find someone willing to do a permanent deal then at least getting some of his wages off the books is a net benefit.

I doubt Estudiantes can even afford 20% of his wages at United. The loan is more or less to avoid a toxic situation in the dressing room.

Are we paying his whole wages? What’s the point? Especially with Young leaving
I doubt an Argentinian club have much money to spend on wages. They are getting a player for basically nothing for 5 months. Should just cancel his contract. No sensible club would go near him on a permanent deal.

Apparently Seba Veron is Estudiantes chairman which has helped with the deal.

What was the point of giving this guy a new deal? The way our wage bill has been used, especially at a time when the squad needed genuine rebuilding, has been atrocious.

Linden of or maguire get injured. Then we’ll need him. Axel or Fosu wI’ll barely get any game time and Rojo is better then jones. He’s our 3rd best defender imo.

Cancel his contract, great idea, I'm sure Rojo would be ok with that.

It's all well and good finally trimming the team but apart from there still being loads left (who would ideally go first) not replacing them with useful players seems negligent. We're now left with 2 permacrocks as backup .

Don't forget Tuanzebe and Fosu-Mensah could be headed that way as well.

It's a shame Rojo's time here turned into a injury riddled mess. thought he actually played pretty well in Mou's first year. not much outside of that though, and was always a walking red card waiting to happen.

He had a good run pairing up with Jones for about 10 games when Jose was the manager, pretty useless rest of the time but always fought for his team. Like his character and I will never forget how wildly he celebrated Rashford’s penalty against PSG! He was pictured in the away stand today btw.

All the best Marcos!

Absolutely fantastic that Woodward the great manager to sign him up on a new long-term contract. Brilliant move both economically and for the team.

I would have loved to see him getting a few games on the trot as a partner for Maguire. Lindelöf, Bailly and Jones arent cutting it IMO.

As a defender he wasn't that bad I thought. He'd instantly become 50% more useful if he was never allowed to shoot or dive in two footed

But alas, he was brain-dead

If we are sending him to some Argentine team can they even afford 10% of his wages? If not then whats the benefit of this move when we have Bailly and Tuanzebe who seem like they are made of glass, can we rely on a trio of Jones, Tuanzebe and Bailly to provide cover for the busy period ahead? Ideally I would sell Jones, Rojo and Bailly then buy two reliable CBs but we have greater needs elsewhere so they have to do for another season at the very least.

Good luck to him - he was mad as they come and possibly could have been a decent squad player if not for all the injuries.

I had high hopes for Rojo when he joined us. It was not his fault he could only play one position and was constantly asked to play in a different one. When played in his natural role, he was good. Maybe he was never the level required for United, and there was always a question mark hovering over his decision-making (and his cringeworthy tackling), but he seemed like a good character and never shirked. I wish him well on his loan move.

You may be right but anything is better than nothing and if he plays regularly he will at least put himself in the shop window and we might find a permanent taker in the summer.
There's more chance of him putting himself in the shop window at Estudiantes, where he'll most likely be a key starter. It's not like he's going to attract big clubs anyway.

Which is? He played a lot as a center back and as a left back for us and he was mostly shit for most of that time.

One of our worst signings of the last few years, with the decision to renew his contract on £100k+ not too far behind on the bad decisions scale.

My hopes for Rojo were extremely low.
When I heard that United and LVG were keen on signing him I had to double check to see if it wasn't that awful player who was playing for Argentina at the WC.
Unfortunately it was.

Not the best Utd player by any means but I always liked him and would like to have seen him play more games earlier in his utd career but due to injuries his career never really took off , wish him the best of luck

Waste of money and time. 76 games in 5 seasons (about 15 games/season including as subs), while getting paid 100+k per week.
