For such a low release clause, it makes sense to gamble on this guy in a position that we all know needs strengthening before the deadline.

Surely worth a gamble at such a fee

Except if he comes good he will upset Martial and potentially block Greenwood's path to the first team so obviously we shouldn't sign him..
How will we tell if Martial is upset? He walks (yes walks) around the field with a face like a smacked arse already.

The reason we are in this position is cos we have two forwards neither of which want to or are really capable of leading the line. Having someone who will make the runs for crosses, attack the near post, attack the far post, anticipate things would be wonderful again.

I'm tired of these blocking arguments. There are a few other Lingards in the team. We need good options for each position. Then if they don't show it in training or on the field they just don't play.

Too many players have just been stealing a living. These are man utd shirts these guys are wearing - they should be playing for them. Noone has a right to one.

It's the selling club that puts the obligation to buy into the deal, not the buying club, otherwise literally anybody could take him on loan then just send him back.
I don't understand why we wouldn't want obligatory to buy?

Imagine if he proves to be a success then we'd end up paying double or triple his price and not guarantee we will be able to get him too.

It would take weeks for Ed and The Judge to bargain this down to 11.5 plus add ons plus more add ons so I can't imagine this being done in a day.

If this was true then it's something that shouldn't be hard to do - and the player would surely jump at the opportunity.

I feel like it's just random links like most of the strikers we've been named too.

No, he's not just sitting in a used cars sales lot for anyone to take for a spin. The buying club can just as well include a fixed option/obligation in their offer. Plus the story claims that we offered a loan + obligation which they rejected.

Basically you can’t lose with this one.

if he turns into a player you save yourself 50m minimum. If he doesn’t, youl likelystill get your money back.

makes too much sense for us!

If it was a free transfer you might get away with it, but not for a fee in the region of £20m, you wouldn't be able to get the insurance to sign it off for starters.
Insurance to sign what off?

It just has to be done by someone qualified and to whatever standard the club set. There are people that can do that in every major country.

Sure ideally the medical is done by your dude in Manchester but others have been done elsewhere.

Not to mention 3/4 of Argentinians have Italian ancestry and many qualify for Italian passports. Italy is the natural move for them and often legally uncomplicated.
Gaich could also be a derivation of the Croatian surname Gajić. Many Croatians have emigrated to Argentina after WWII.

We should be loading up on South American talents before Brexit and work permit difficulties kick in. Throw the money at him.

Where the grass is greener.
We've signed players pending a medical before, this would be same if we can't do it abroad somewhere, which we're obviously more than capable of doing.

Think we left this too late .Would have been a gamble but heck we pay that much in Sanchez's Salary.

But common sense is not something you associate with United and especially since Woodward wants to become the big Don.

Last seen in Venezuela with the Argentina u23s so this is likely not possible in the current window.

Interesting. After listening to a debate about Fred’s inability to kick a football (literally) this guy can strike one. Also that header is exactly what ole wants by sounds of it

Reminds me during the summer when we were linked to Pedro. I just checked to see how he has been doing in Fiorentina. Four games with a total of 59 minutes in Serie A and now loaned to Flamengo who have an option to buy

I'd prefer us to do something like this rather than getting an expensive loan for someone who will come and be average. If we can sign a promising enough striker on the cheap, they might either develop into a decent player for us or we can sell them on for a similar fee (or loan them out if we want to bring someone major in). You'd think, with United's scouting power, we would be able to locate a fairly cheap young striker who would usually go to the likes of Ajax, Sevilla and Lille and become great. They would certainly get games in the last few months of this season. Gaich looks talented and Tim Vickery from BBC was very positive about him apparently. I doubt it will happen but this sort of creative signing excites me much more than Ighalo on loan or something.

How does him signing make a difference? In that case it’ll be nobody coming in and it’ll still be a lost season.

I completely agree with everything you said, I was being sarcastic.

Whichever striker we get, if we do end up getting one at all, 'le sulk' needs to go back on the left. He just doesn't convince me as a '9'. Got a similar work rate to Berbatov but with less output.

We are in desperate need hence any sort of links at all. If we are judgibg this on low cost then we might as well not bother at all.
This isnt a long term move, get the best player possible for 6 months.

Bad planning by United, or no planning at all? In the last 14 months we've signed 2 × 20-year old goalies we don't need: Paul Woolston, and Nathan Bishop. We have about 11 goalies now at U-23, U-18, or out on loan. Greenwood (18) and Mellor (19) are the only strikers at U-23 we can call on. Several of the others left last summer. Who expects to see Mellor in a United first team?

Heard of this guy a few hours ago and I'm sold, but isn't it getting mighty late in the window for such a signing? Will he even get a work permit?
