I’d like to see us buy dembele. Lyon would sell for right price and he will be a great player for us to have for the next decade.

I appreciate that ITK's are not popular on here at all and completely understand it, however he did break the news on our interest in King even though it has been rebuffed by Bournemouth.

Thought we might have gone all in for Mertens now that Chelsea have seemingly pullee out of the race for him. I think there probably was interest in Jovic but Real flat out rejected the offer.

In regards to Cavani it looks to me like Utd are put off by the wage demands and recent injury record.

Barca just last minute changed their mind on a 6 month loan for Bakambu. Would be a logical last minute move for us, he's a decent #9 and with Martial able to play as a 9 or LW we'd be able to field a not awful front 3 even with Rashford out (James or Greenwood on the right and the other can be the main attacking sub off the bench along with Mata).

Even if we don't get anyone, there is a slim silver lining here because Ole actually appeared defiant and told the fans he undoubtedly wants and needs a striker, even on loan. Ball firmly in your court, Ed/Judge. If you don't deliver (and there ARE options available, however average they may be), it's on you and the fans know it.

Aye, I think the management obviously made this clear to the board as soon as Rashford was injured so no excuses for not getting someone in.

It will be interesting to see what nonsense Neil Ashton leaks if we don't get anyone. There are around 3-4 guys essentially available on loan. No excuses, Ole has told them he wants a striker - get him one.

I know Giroud wants London or Europe but surely we could tempt him for the remainder of the season on decent money?
Would Chelsea help us out when we are mainly competing with them?

seems pretty mental that it takes just one injury to a key attacker for us to be scrambling around in the bargain basket on the final day. comes back to ultimatley never replacing Lukaku and Sanchez. was mental then, still is.

Ole said we are done in the market so I guess that is that.
Not really. It's pretty clear we are still hunting, but managing expectations. Ole also said, "Sometimes I say something here and something else happens. Sometimes the player gets a different message."

With the Ings inquiry being reported we have clearly sent the bat signal out to every agent under the sun to see who's available up top.

I don't know whether a lot of this just pure speculation but we don't want to end up getting desperate. I'm all for a short term option, but not pay through the nose for someone we're not mad keen on.

ESPN reported that PSG want 20€ for Cavani...he seems available now, why on earth we dont make a bid for him instead of trying to sign Josh F*cking King

SSN saying £55m bid for Hugo Rodallega been turned down and that our attention has turned to Carlton Cole.

Maybe try with Theo Walcott? Can play multiple attacking roles and used to be good 5 years ago.
Also should in theory be good on counter attacks which is our style!
If not him maybe Lennon who we could try as right back too when injuries start to happen ;).

Oumar Niasse is meant to be on his way to Burnley, can we hijack that?

For an actual semi-serious suggestion, what about Cedric Bakambu on loan? I was reading earlier about Barcelona pulling out of a loan deal for him, so he's obviously available. Decent scoring record for Villarreal when he was there.

The 'tanque' is a Canadian, left-footed striker, aged 27, who plays for Vancouver Whitecaps FC, in the Canadian league. Has Canadian and Argentine nationality. Before that he played for Pueblo in the Mexican league. In his last season for them he started 12, scored 4 and assisted 3 goals. With a nickname like that he's obviously a bit of a bruiser. Scores all kinds of goals, some of them jammy. So a bit like Chicharito. (Twitter rumour).

Like Ole said this summer, he will only persue players who fit the style of play and long term plans of the club. If they don't fit that mould then he simply wont sign them.

Which is why signing Joshua King on a permenant deal would be crazy. He is 28 and his goal scoring record isn't very good. A loan? Maybe

Because there is no strategy, it's all reactive. They gambled on Rashy/Martial/Mason remaining fit for an entire season and to up their productivity - now that things have gone tits up, its panic stations. Business as usual for us.
