Andrei Kanchelskis made me fall in love with Unite
He was excellent and was clearly trying to get us going. A midfield of him, Pogba and Fred or McT could be fantastic - arguably as good as any midfield 3 in the prem. I think a lot of people forget how much we have been decimated by injuries this year. We've been playing for the last couple of months with essentially three fit senior midfield players. I'm hoping this break allows us to get Pogba back at least.

Can someone post the videos/gifs of him commanding people to correct positional movements? The one with AWB, the one with James and the multiple ones with Lingard. It was pathetic. You'd think he walked into a team of amateurs that are only used to playing in playgrounds with no football tactical knowledge.

The one with Lingard was beyond painful to watch. Bruno picks up the ball in RCM area - he has AWB to his right and Bruno looks center to get an attack going. The logical sequence of attacking play here is: Lingard picks up a dangerous spot in #10, gets the ball (traps it for once), draws players to him, AWB/Greenwood is making an off ball run down the right channel, Lingard feeds him in and we have a chance for our ST, RW, LW, LCM etc. Instead: Lingard moves from center and joins the right channel AWB is in. Completely negating any responsibility from picking up the ball in the #10 hole and making AWB AND Greenwood completely redundant in one swift move - literally making us 9v11. These cowardly movements are pathological to the team's inability to create any form of efficient attack.

EDIT: Numerous videos of him teaching these idiots how to play football. Here's the lingard one:

By the end of the game Bruno must have been confused if he had joined a sunday league team or a premier league team
In the 34/35th minute im 95% sure I heard Ole say to Mata 'you should f'ing be there' as he pointed away from the touch line. Mata then proceded to go into the position he should have been in.

He occupied a position that was already occupied. something a lot of our players are seeming to do.

He is Pogba's replacement - at least it's been done in advance. If they can be on the same pitch and maybe get top 4 then job done but Pogba is off in the summer.

We haven't really been decimated. We've had 3 key players injured for a long period though, which is made much worse because we have no depth. But the injuries came about because of that lack of depth (for 2 of them at least). 3 injuries isnt crazy. It's just bad luck it's to key players at the same time.

But yeah, all fit, we'd have an excellent starting 11 IMO. Not sure we'll do that at any point this season but we'll see.

I cant believe someones made a propaganda vid of everything he didnt do great just to say he was mad. Its like people want to force the false narrative that every single thing united do is bad.
Nah, it just weighs up for all the over the top praise for a poor performance. Taking the piss out of his teammates when he is equally as bad is just silly.

At least it didn't take him much time to adapt to the low level.

Don't think I've seen a worse United-debut, taking into consideration he'll cost us 65 million. With that said, he will come good, but there's no reason to pretend like he had a good game.

Why would it be surprising? Its been done with our other players like Smalling and Jones. Think there was one for Andreas recently too.

I can only remember seeing one poster here about Paco Alcacer about other clubs players

That was pathetic from Lingard. It was essentially a nothing move and served absolutely no purpose at all. He's probably terrified of receiving the ball in between the lines.

If the longterm idea/plan is for Fernandes to be Pogba's eventual replacement in a deeper role then we're essentially taking away one of his most noticeable, effective attributes in scoring and assisting higher upfield by trying to forcefully make him adapt into a role that is clearly not his.

He's been playing further upfield for the last 3,4 seasons and now we may change his game into something completely different when he's practically reaching his peak.

Basically,It would be classic United to make him into something he isn't.
It isn’t, it’s just McTominay Pogba and Matic were out so either he played there or bloody Pereira, who does less damage to the team as a 10.

Players have no proper instructions, we have a general shape defensively, but attacking wise, everybody does whatever the feck they want. That is why we could have played all game long yesterday without creating something. The best chance came in the last second with AWB going past a player for once and crossing it in for Dalot, who tucked in rather than stayed somewhere far. The players tried something themselves.Overall, the basic positioning, movement and patterns of play are just not there in our game when in possession with time to build, that is why we pass it around helplessly against deep blocks. Nobody making the clever runs, or makign themselves available in pockets. Our 1-2s are made up and rarely successful. Our players just go for it without knowing where the other will run, it is fecking hilarious  We are a pub team collectively when attacking

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
I actually thought he was ok yesterday. Didn't think it was the best role for him but he did well enough and was actually visibly leading on the pitch. I wanted us to get him when I saw him last season and watched him quite a bit so knew what to expect. My main gripe with him is he can be loose with his passing and he needs to work on it.

All spot on. You would have plopped in a prime Messi in this United team and he would have been confused as hell as to why we are tolerating #10 players hiding on the touchlines. Bruno's touch might have been slightly off-sync and off form which meant some of his set pieces were off but ultimately he was sharper than anyone on that field in terms of football intelligence. What a fecking joke that someone first day on the job is having to teach everyone else how to do their job to get anything done :annoyed:

I actually thought he had more impact on the game when he switched roles, it's not ideal but I'm not sure under Ole what works best as our team lacks a clear playing ethos when we are in possession.
You were insisting so much last year that this guy is just a no 10. Comparing him to Mkhitaryan was really a joke. At least you are now got clue that this guy is not just no 10 but also can operate in deeper role.

He seems the type that could play RB to a high level too, he's just a fantastic footballer.

He clearly has a high level of technique, hits the ball very cleanly. I'm excited to see what he's like when he's fully settled in and we have a balanced team.

Where?
With Madrid plunking on Hazard from what I’ve heard Madrid need a CF, not a midfielder. Clearly Modric will be off soon but supposedly Valverde has fit in well at the LM role.
So where else is Pogba going? I suppose Juventus? Are those links legit

The Sporting fans agreed with me that he's a #10, don't get it twisted, he was able to play deeper yesterday s Wolves sit off so there is a lot of space in midfield, I think it would be a different case against a team that really contests the midfield by pressing onto the opposition CM's.

Even Ole made Scholes comparison. I never say he will be a permanent CM, what I’m trying to say is the guy is not only a no 10 or attacking mid who can play wide area like Mkhy. He’s more of a playmaker who likes to drop deep because he likes to create and has different type of passing skills & good range of vision.

Being Sporting‘s fans means nothing much. There are some United fans in here also have different opinion with others about their players, some rate Lindelof, other don’t, for example. You can trust them but at the same you can’t just make your own statement and pretending that you know how the player plays and started making random comparison that is not even closed.

Rooney can also play deeper role but we know where he is best at. So this "can play" narrative has to stop. Means feck all for a team like us.

I can understand why he played there yesterday but hopefully he is back as attacking midfielder next game when we have Matic back.

I never say that's his best role. I always think his best role is no 10 or attacking mid. But his playing style isn't similar to Mky at all. You can't play in midfield 2 with Mkhy's style, that's what I'm trying to tell the poster.

I see a player (Bruno) always trying to make the direct attacking play and forward passes. It's clear his "specialty" is not in passing, but more so on attacking. We have too many players who likes to make bs over pass backwards and sideways so having him is important.

We're in agreement he did not had a good game.

How can I put this, given some of the stuff Ole has came out with recently I wouldn't put much stock in any comparisons he makes, I mean he made it sound like nobody breaks Wolves down and yet they have conceded in every one of their last 11 games bar 2, and those 2 games were both against us. I'm not rehashing the playmaker debate with you dude.

I'm not pretending, I also think there is a difference between rating a player and knowing what type of player they are, what the Sporting fans were saying is the latter, not the former.

Funny, I thought Neves produced the best midfield performance of the match. Bruno did better than our other midfielders and attacking players though.

I get it, if it doesn't suit your argument then you won't buy it, no matter what.

My judgment on Bruno last year wasn't really blind judgment. I had watched him played very often in his international game since he was linked with us and he's more a playmaker rather than just attacking mid. Ironically, I even posted an article to you about how Bruno plays and you didn't buy it because the article doesn't suit your argument.

Sporting fans got no clue what sort of player Mkhytaryan was. I don't know what's your stand right now is, whether you are changing your mind or no but if you are still insisting that Bruno is closer to Mkhytaryan than Scholes or Lampard after watching the game in the weekend then I guess I shall end this conversation because it feels like I'm talking to a wall.

I think what you’re getting with Fernandes is a player who takes risks. I wouldn’t worry too much about pass completion stats, we need a player willing to try and force the issue

Look at Juan Mata, the most cowardly attacking football on the planet. I bet his pass completion stats are great because he plays zero risk football.

Ive seen enough to think we’ve got a good player. Whether we have a top, top player I’m not sure, will reserve judgement for a while yet though

I also liked the fact he clearly has confidence and a bit of bite
Agree in full. He looks like someone that's more concerned about making things happen than looking good on a computer screen.

What do you mean by the word “decimated”? The word literally means to reduce by a tenth, so losing 3 of our starters is worse than decimation.

Playing alongside James, Andreas, lingard, mata and martial (in that kinda form) and trying to force the issue will make almost anyone look bad.

I loved what he was trying to do as a no. 10. He remained largely central and tried to bring some of the wide players into play. He was also taking up positions to get the ball back and shoot from as central a position as he could.

How I wish we had Mctominay playing behind him instead of Andreas. That could have allowed Fred to get forward more and rashford and a proper RW making runs on either side, would have really pushed wolves back effectively giving bruno even more space to operate.

Can't wait to see bruno play ahead of a midfield of Mctominay and fred, with rashford and martial in front of him. Even if we have to wait a couple of months for that to happen.

3 players out from a squad of approximately 30 is literally decimated
