I’d love it as it would be progressive but one; he’s used to working with a dof and two; I’ve a feeling the board will go down the Poch route, predictable but it’s what I’ve come to expect

And rightly so.

That’s terrible news. He is one of a couple of people who could have saved us.

In addition, Inter knicked Beppe from Juve in the summer and are already fighting for the title. The other fallen giants are making moves while we sit on our arses waiting to see if Ole’s 5-year “youth and culture” plan works out.

May be our time had not come, we need to wait.I was expecting him here unfortunately it looks like that it not going to happen ever.

Might be unfashionable for some, but i'd love to see my fellow country man Dan Ashworth given the DoF role.

My second favourite team is causing me pain :( probably gets a manager our ceo won't even know the name of.
My second team too. So disappointing, absolutely love what Rangnick has done at RB Group. Gutted.

Wanted him as DoF with either Rose, Nagelsmann or Pochettino.

Ralf Rangnick built the a Red Bull football world, he fits teams based on youth and development, but he never built a topteam, which won big titels. Salzburg is winning the Austrian Bundesliga, that is nothing special. Salzburgs success came with Freund, who made Salzburg more independent. Leipzig is playing well, but is not finished. They wont win anyrhing this year. Rose would be perfect for United as Coach, but United needs someone who forms champions as DoF. not Ralf Rangnick!

UK, hun?
You really have to wonder what on Earth we’ve got planned if we’re happy to watch him join our Italian equivalent in AC Milan. Surely it’s not just to sit on Ole and hope for the best?

He was the mastermind behind our success in winning the u17 and u20 world cups and winning the u19 European Championships and did a sterling job putting all together in the 6 years he was with the FA as technical director and formed champions.

The below article is a good read on his mindset and work as a technical director.

Thanks for the link, interesting article. It’s hard to disagree with anything he says really. Wonder does he get involved in transfers too?

He does from what I've read and played a key role in signing highly rated Argentina u20 player Alexis Mac Allister from Argentinos Juniors in recent times. Mac Allister is a highly rated creative midfielder who was picked up early for £7m beating a number of clubs in the process. The player was then left on loan at Boca Juniors due to not having a work permit but according to reports he has attained one now and will join up with Brighton at the start of next season. And from what I've read, he also chose Potter as the headcoach.

Our plan seems to be that guy from PSG but all I hear about him is about how awful he's done in the role

Not unfashionable at all, he is brilliant and will hopefully stay with us at Brighton for years to come. He Bloom and Potter are bought into the same philosophy and despite our league position I for one am very very happy with it.

Mac Allister was recalled to Brighton at the end of January, he's still with Argentina U23s Olympic qualifiers at the moment but will be playing for us this season. Really looking forward to seeing him play he's extremely highly rated. Ashworth was instrumental in appointing Potter, signing Trossard and Tariq Lamptey amongst others. He's been our DoF for a year now and has not put a foot wrong yet.

He's been on top form for the Argies and has been their star man for the pre-Olympic qualifiers. £7m looks a snip from what I've seen. Below is what Tim Vickery wrote about him.

Thanks for this, I am really excited to see him at the Amex, but I imagine at his age the change in country and culture will mean he will take a little while to settle in, but I have yet to see or read anything negative about him, everyone is singing his praises.

Sporting director and manager? That's exactly what many of us on here do not want. We want a separation of duties, a clear and concise division.
Must be better than Ole as manager though.

Now watch AC Milan struggle with this chap as well. They're like our mirror image these days.

My two cents on it would be, as a coach, he would need a season to lay the ground work for his sporting director role - then what is the point of having Ole for the rest of the season if you're going to do that.

He would be very nice indeed as a DoF figure for us. Be interested to see who would be the manager/head coach if he was indeed coming here. Those two figures would need to be on the same page for almost everything if we‘re going to be successful again.

Most importantly we can lay down the foundations so that Utd can have that element of autonomy that our fellow continental peers have, where the first team manager isn’t king and the wheel doesnt have to be reinvented every time we get a new manager. That system worked perfectly under Sir Alex because he’s a GOAT football manager who could play both DoF and manager with ease, and Sir Alexs don’t come along every week.
