Bugger. Sancho will cost £100m more than Ziyech and there's no guarantee Sancho will come to us. We should've been looking at Ziyech as an alternative. Risk free signing.
I agree. I don't expect Sancho to sign for us. We're going to "persue" him all summer and then end up with James, Mata and Greenwood on the right again. These are the sorts of players we should be jumping at.

Chelsea tried to sign him in January and ended up with no one. If we had done that Woodward would've been lambasted for chasing unrealistic targets.
But didnt we do that with bruno Fernandes, we tried signing him in the summer and failed but instead of sorting it out before the winter window opebed we instead went on a month long saga again like always with that idiot Woodward handling things.

No. Spurs tried to sign him. I don't believe we made a bid.

Kepa, Torres, Drinkwater, Bakayoko. There are more but that should be enough for starters.
I actually think most Chelsea would agree with you on this. I personally don't think we've had a truly great transfer window since 2014 when we signed Fabregas, Costa and Felipe Luis plus Remy and Drogba has backups.

It's been mostly meh/alright since with the odd gem signing here and there. Looking back, 2018 will probably go down as one of the poorest and most wasteful windows in recent memory.

Ziyech is a great start,

Out: Drinkwater £10m, Bakayoko £30m, Moses £10m, Morata £50m, Willian (Free), Pedro (Free), Giroud (Free), Christensen or Zouma £30m, Alonso £20m, Zappacosta £10m, Barkley £20m - TOTAL £180m

Add this £180m to the fees already receieved for Hazard etc plus CL money for this season and that's a heavy war chest (first £100m will go to balancing the books)

In: Ziyech £38m, Werner £50m, Sancho £100m, LB £40m, CB, £50m - TOTAL £278m

Net spend over two seaasons -£23m

We can only dream

Horrible feeling we’ll regret not making an attempt with Ziyech when we inevitably miss out on Sancho. For that price we could invest in other important areas of the squad. Sanchos price doesn’t leave mich change unfortunately even though undoubtedly the better player.

I'm not sure you can accommodate Mount, Willian, Hudson Odoi, Ziyech, Sancho and Pulisic in the three attacking poisitions behind the CF. And I feel I've missed out on attacker or two (Pedro I know is leaving).
I feel Kante may be leaving this summer, which will likely mean we play a more attacking pair of CMs with Jorgi/Kova the defensive version, especially against cannon fodder.

Don't think Jorginho and Kovacic (feck spellings) are defensively strong enough to guard the back line.

When games are like basketball probably not but against teams we will dominate possesion against three of Jorgi, Kova, Ziyech and Mount will be fine.

These midfields sound great on paper but never work out in reality. Pep managed it at City with Fernandinho as the sole defensive midfielder. But it is rare, and neither Jorgino or Kovacic are rock solid defensively. Let's see.

Imagine getting a player signed months before the summer window, and for a decent price to boot. Chelsea have done that a few times now.

Ajax's pride over losing their star players is bizarre to me.

I understand they are not a super power in Europe currently, but they seem to celebrate the success of their players over the success of the team.

You'll be lucky to get the figures quoted there £10m for drinkwater, Bakayako etc.

Hazard money was used on Pulisic and Kovavic.

So I am not sure where you are getting this net spend of -23m

How about getting a player who Chelsea negotiated to sign since December and could've had in January but failed to agree a fee with Ajax only to then agree to sign him a few weeks after the window shut? Can you imagine if we did similar with Fernandes?

What like you actually did. When you negotiated all summer just to scrape it at the close of January...

Atleast we'll have the player available in the last part of the season.

This is good news isn't it?

For all the memes and talk about Sancho signing for them, it's surely ended now right?

Hudson Odoi,
Ziyech,
Willian,
Pulisic,

Or maybe they will sell Willian and still sign Sancho..

We didn't negotiate anything in the summer. We consistently denied being interested. Spurs were the team who actively negotiated with SCP.

We didn't, Spurs did in Summer, we did in Jan.

Hazard money covered Kovacic that's it. Pulisic was signed in the previous accounting period where we lost the big money. You're forgetting our other player sales too (£40m from Aina, Kalas, Luiz, Hector, Omeruo etc)

Bakayoko already has a £30m clause to buy with Monaco, Moses fee already agreed, Morata already agreed and final. Everton were willing to part with £30m for Zouma just last summer, Conte wants Alonso etc etc

To be honest given the value we get from selling players i've probably low balled a lot of these figures

Yup. This fan base loves misery and loves to complain about everything 100% of the time.

I think it encourages prospects to play for them as they won’t keep you hostage or be difficult when it comes to letting you move on.
I find it refreshing personally.

What a deal for Chelsea though, same price we paid for Mata 7 years ago.

I have no doubt Chelsea have alot of money to spend but if you are selling CB's you will need replacements too, maybe 2?

Not many out there for £50m who are decent in the PL.

Werner seems to be on his way to Liverpool and Sancho will be £120m plus.
The names mentioned also will want £200k plus wages?

They can't sell Willian any more. Willian's contract expires this summer. He wants a new 2 year contract. Chelsea may only be offering 1. There's standoff. Chelsea's most expensive signing is Kepa for £71.6m; so I don't expect 'pool, Chelsea, or City to be after Sancho or any other English club apart from United.

Doesn't matter which way round we do it, 6 of those players leaving are pretty much done deals already (3 on a free and 3 with clauses to buy).

I don't know if we'll get those players, like i said it's a wish.

CB wise we're covered, we can certainly sell one of Tomori, Rudiger, Christensen and Zouma so that we can buy another.

regarding the £200k salary we don't have an issue with paying that if someone was worth it, we have done several times in the past (Lampard, Terry, Drogba, Hazard etc), but we may not have to.

I don't personally think we'll go for Sancho, but the money should be there should we want to

I wouldn't be surprised if Ajax made a move for Mohammed Ihattaren from PSV as a potential replacement. Still only 18 but looks a talent.

Is he a discounted version of Mahrez? Or even better?
Very similar skill set on the ball but Ziyech is much more usefull helping out defensively.
