He sold part of his share of Inter Miami. He didn’t just hand it out to SoftBank for free. So whether he still owns Inter Miami or sold half of it for $100m he’ll still have that asset.

Beckham is also way more popular in other countries. Wealth isn’t calculated on popularity anyway. It’s calculated on net assets to which Beckham will have absolutely loads because he is a smart businessman.
Forbes have his net worth listed as $450m. Tiger is between $800-900m. His stock has fallen in recent years.

Beckham does plenty of businesses but none have reached Air Jordan levels to propel him into a billionaire. Tiger was the poster boy of golf in the world's most powerful country. American Capitalism made him incredibly rich. This guy was already earning hundreds of millions a year a decade ago. By constrast Messi and Ronaldo only managed to hit hundred million last year. I don't think Beckham has ever hit a hundred million earnings annual. Of course, we can talk about things like offshore accounts and shell companies but Forbes' estimates are usually pretty accurate for the multi-millionaires.

If you are talking about him and Victoria combined, maybe. If its just Becks alone, I highly doubt it. He owns Inter Miami together with Softbank. Its not like he forked 200m out of his own pocket.

He is rich and very popular but I really doubt he is Jordan or Tiger rich (the sub $1b). They have the luxury of being insanely popular in Amercia.
Becks was crafty, he negotiated in his LA contract a reduced price on an MLS franchise when he retired. He paid 25 mill franchise fee for his team to join the league, if he didn't it would have been a lot more. Nashville joining league at same time as Becks team paid $150 million

I would have said the MLS would have rimmed Becks with a reach around to start anew franchise as its, he is still a massive draw in football and brings media coverage every he goes... as for Nashville, I have heard sweet feck all about them TBH.

seriously the mighty Nashville, everyone has heard of them.....Joking aside they've got a few mls veteran types in their squad but they also recently got Zimmerman, a US international centre half who I really like as a player.

Their first game tonight in MLS? It's on at 22:30 for UK and Ireland viewers.

I know feck all about them but it will be interesting to see their progress.

Think they'll become my MLS team. Edit: Clubs colours are pink -- no thanks.

Has Matuidi retired from international football or do we still expect Deschamps to pick him

Surprised this wasn't mentioned...

Inter Miami broke MLS rules over Blaise Matuidi signing

David Beckham's Inter Miami broke Major League Soccer (MLS) rules with the signing of France midfielder Blaise Matuidi from Juventus last year.

The MLS said Matuidi had been paid more than was allowed, effectively giving the team four "designated players" last season rather than the permitted three.
Designated players' wages do not count towards the MLS salary cap.

In a statement, the MLS said World Cup winner Matuidi, 34, had been wrongly categorised as a "targeted allocation money" (TAM) player.

"Matuidi's compensation was above the compensation limit for a TAM player and he should have been classified as a designated player," the statement continued.

"As a result, Inter Miami CF violated the designated player limit as the team had three designated players in addition to Matuidi during 2020."

Any sanctions will be announced at a later date.

As a resident of Miami, I'm struggling to care about Inter Miami, but my friends sure seem to make a big deal out of it so it's good to see there is some passion for the team. I wish them luck, but I'm just not a fan of the MLS so far. I didn't even know this was going to be their first game today. It'll be interesting to see what kind of pull Beckham and co. can have in attracting stars.

"Higuian who winds back the clock and steers Miami in front".

He scored a penalty, not some vintage goal.

Wonder how the conversation between Phil and Becks went.
