I'm not in favour of this decision. The whole point of the Champions League is for all of the top teams to compete. I think the competition is diminished without City in it.
Fine. I'll beat you with a sledgehammer while you're busy putting your boxing gloves on, but you won't protest at my victory because you don't want to dilute the competition.

Man City fans have got to be the most insecure i have ever witnessed. They are more concerned with what other people say or think about them, than the actual issue at hand. Bluemoon forum is proper cringey.

They'll get a 1 year ban upon CAS appeal. Pep is in his last year - 18 months IMO. Cooking the books is essentially what they've done... shady as feck. "overstated their sponsorship income to meet FFP and meet rules regarding break even" ie. the owners put money in and made it look as if it came from a sponsor? No chance they walk away with entire ban overturned.
Somewhat ironic coming from a Chelsea fan

I was going to say, ya'll shut the feck up about the Premier League cause Liverpool finished 2nd in 14.... then I remembered that it will destroy that Aguero last minute goal bullshit and we'll have 21 titles...
We also finished 2nd with Mou. 2 titles for United, 2 for Liverpool. Of course that would never happen, but itd be 2 each.

Unfortunately as although it allows City to be significantly weakened, it will further strengthen Liverpool's chances of potential domination making it more likely they'll surpass our title record with a few seasons.

No doubt their fans and allies in the media are cheering this the most. We could benefit too if 5th was awarded a CL place but I suspect we'd somehow even screw that up.

It isn't up to UEFA whether this gets reduced to one year or not, like a few of you seem to believe. In the past Porto has been banned from European competitions and CAS completely overturned it, albeit for different reasons at the time. And it's their word that prevails.

What CAS will decide only they know.

They are only a top team because they cheated. Imagine Pablo Escobar our billions of cocaine money into West Brom back in the day then started crying that he was being treated ‘unfairly’ because they are the ‘best team’.

Yes and no. They got banned 2 years ago, appealed it to Cas and it got overturned. Then got banned the year after and didn’t appeal. Cas deemed the punishment to be excessive in the first case. You’d imagine before UEFA gave the punishment the year after and then to City now, that they are confident the punishment is not excessive this time.
I would imagine they would use the fact that city have form and were punished previously to the tune of €49m for breaking FFP rules and now not only have they broken them but they have actually tried to game the system and did not engage at all with UEFA.

Can UEFA actually arbitrarily decide in the future that they will not offer a club a participation contract? in fairness, it is UEFA's competition so they probably could.

They spent a lot of money. Just like every other top club in Europe's best league's. I'm not so sure how that is cheating.

I can see that. Which is why I, and others, have explained it to you.

To think of all the ass kissing the media were giving City for the last few seasons.

?? Dude they premeditatedly planned and lied about their income and break even figures in order to break every rule of FFP.

They wouldn’t exist in the Champions League without cheating their way to this position.
I’m glad they are tainted as cheats.

It’s one thing breaking a rule but the way they have brazenly cooked the books with no regard whatsoever - they deserve more than two years if you ask me.

What they have done is akin to a athlete taking steroids, I would be feckin disgusted if it were the club I support.
