Such a weird CB, comes up with moment of class even when under pressure like retaining possession in our own box or making class blocks and then comes up with WTF moments like giving away possession easily, allowing Pedro to nick the ball.

Overall lot of positives, need run of games.

He's an athlete and complements well with Maguire,

Not the easiest of games to be back, on another day we could easily have conceded from one of his special moments.

I hope he gets a run of games to build his confidence, match fitness and understanding with Maguire.

Had a very good block, top class that.

But he's way to much of a maniac. He does something good and tries something completely weird.

He almost costs us to goals as well with very erratic play. My heart can't handle a season of him.

This lad has all the gifts. If he can just pull it together he will be so good for us. His speed can cover for Maguire's lack of it. They could really grow into a top, top pairing.

One of his best games for us. After 5-6 months out, right back in there. Complimented Maguire really well, stepped in when needed and has the pace to recover. Some excellent interceptions and tackles. If this could be his new bar he'd be some player.

Early yet but looks to have his mojo and determination back. He didn't look all there in the Newcastle game while Jose was here, like a westworld robot.

He’s an absolutely brilliant player but also a mental bastard.

It’s a real shame how unfortunate he’s been with injuries. We’ve genuinely missed a chance to see how he could have developed up until now.

Walking heart-attack of a player though.

Him being manic on the pitch is better than Lindelof playing like nothing has happened.

Rashford, MCT and Fred all progressed very well under Ole. If Eric makes a similar progress until the end of the season, he will save the club £80 M on upgrade on Lindelof who is not fit to be a first team United player

Can't say he's not entertaining, not sure that's necessarily a good quality for a CB though.

He's chaotic and liable to do something infuriating but I'll take him over Lindelof's "Ice-man" piss-weak bollocks.

He has better dribbling than Daniel James, although he only uses it in our own penalty area.

I thought he'd be a liability when I saw his name on team sheet and, 10 minutes in, expected to be proved right. Fair play to him for turning it around and giving a good all-round performance.

He did well, to be fair, better than anyone could've expected considering how long he's been out.

But let's put it in context, he played most of the game against a striker, boo'd off by his home support.

And he'll probably rupture his anus or something in the next game and be out for 368 months.

Overall I do like him, he's like Vidic, if Vidic dropped a tonne of acid half an hour before kick off.

95% of the game Trash. 5% of the game, greatest defender that has ever lived.

He‘s just ridiculous. Can go from terrible to incredible at the drop of a hat. I feel like he just needs to calm down and realise he doesn’t have to chase every all and get dragged out of position all the time.

Had that one clearing tackle with the 50-50 with DeGea and then that block on Kovacic but that but around the 37th minute where he is in our box being the coolest man in the stadium as all and sundry closing in on him.

First game back and I know we’ve been here before but hopefully he can get a run, stay fit and someone can get through to him and make him a good defender.

When fit, he can be a excellent player and certainly should be ahead of Lindelof. Tuanzabe is still the one for me to partner Maguire, think he is more calm but the jury is still out on him. Happy for Bailey and Maguire to be first choice, so much more strength, aggression and flair in that pairing.

Has a presence that Lindelof doesn’t have and looks a more natural partner for Maguire. Bit unfair to judge him on his airhead moments tonight with it being his first game back. Be great if he could have a clear run to the end of season and build a proper partnership, save us a fortune in the summer that could be invested elsewhere.

@GifLord

Can we please have the step-over in his own box next to david de gea. This thread definitely should have this for eternity :D

Indeed very good to see a player compliment the players alongside him. Much better fit alongside Maguire than Lindlehof. Hopefully he can develop into a genuine top quality defender as he has all the attributes and only lacks in his focus.

1 game where he almost gave Chelsea 2 goals and he's already better than Lindelof
Lindelof doesn't defend mate - he doesn't make a mistake because he isn't nowhere to be seen.

Out of position when maguire tries to intercept & scared to get his pants dirty because he hasn't been taught how to make a slide tackle. Zonal defending is apparently a problem because we have a single centre back who tries to jump for a defender whilst Lindelof stands there ball watching and turns his back because he is scared of the ball hitting his face.

Bailly isn't long term but was always going to be a better partner to Maguire the same reason why Rojo was a better partner to Maguire because they get stuck in whilst Lindelof is too shy.

That's why Smalling shouldn't have been sold & why Southgate is a poor manager for England.

One of my favourite United fringe players of all time, just lives on another planet. That step over and dribble out had me touching cloth.

Said it in match day thread, its pure comedy with him on the pitch, sometimes positive, sometimes negative but never boring, not for a minute.

A few dodgy moments but you wouldn't know that was his first game in so long. Quite telling that he was trusted over Jones, I think.

He's a loco.

That goal saving tackle should be shared on Chelsea's whatsapp group.

Kovacic, sit down.

Bailly coming good shouldn't hinder another CB signing. Jones needs to go and Lindelöf might be alright as fifth backup considering how injury plagued we always are in defense.

Quite nice having two centre backs that can head the ball for a change.

Really good player. Also a really bad player. Sometimes both within the same minute.

He was great tonight, hope he can build on it

First time I saw him playing I thought he was class. That was what 3 years ago?

Guy is clearly a talented footballer. And not a bad defender. But his muscles are made of chalk.
