There are about potentially 4 or 5 really top managers going to be available this summer, it would be such a missed opportunity if the club ignore the other options and keep Solskjear on for another season.

Yes. Am happy that we are in touch with at least one brilliant young manager. We should also be trying to assess other young up and coming managers such as Nagelsmann. There is no rule against poaching managers right? Let's see how this Poch development progresses. Imagine if next he attends a United game at Old Trafford.
Sitting with Woodward and SAF

Who are these top managers who will be available?

I'm assuming these 4 or 5 numbers is except Poch.

Would love us to get him but think he is from the Klopp school of management who wants a proper structure at the club.
If he wants to wait some time for the right job then you never know what the future holds & we might have a good chance of getting him ( not talking about next season because that's too soon even on his accord).

However, I can kind of imagine him trying to do a Klopp like manoeuvre and manage a club like Arsenal - go to a club where the expectations aren't exactly high at the moment but neither are they low and build up something from there with minimal pressure on his back.

Upon rethinking it, this whole “Poch hasn’t won trophies in England so thats a black mark” argument is bollocks. In that case then we should hire Michael Laudrup or Alex McLeish because they won the League Cup in the past decade.

Evidence? I Never said Bayern once.
He’s said it quiet a few times actually . You think he’s running to put his name on a contract to be saddled with that mess when he has a chance to win the BL the next couple of years, CL football for the foreseeable future and ultimately a chance to land his dream job?

If the board was clear that they want to get Poch, they should have done it before the winter break when we had better chance of achieving Top 4.
We need to pay Spurs some money but that amount is very little than what we could get in CL if we qualify. And he would have had nearly half a season to work on the squad and prepare for next season.

What’s that got to do with what I said. Idgaf what he wants to do. I gave my personal opinion that had nothing to do with Bayern.

Im tempted - I mean he could probably still walk his way into the team at the moment as our most creative player

Carrick, Southgate, Luis Enrique
Carrick has been an unmitigated disaster since he joined the first team coaching setup. Same for McKenna.
He has known nothing but failure since he joined.
I have an idea; let's give him the manager's job!

Hopefully, this isn't crossing Woodward's mind. Even he wouldn't be so stupid.

I was hoping that a DOF would appoint our next manager but think we all know it will be that damn Toy Story puppet again.
Well, Woodward is our DoF, so technically, it is our DoF who will be appointing our next manager.

Not exactly. There's more to managing than just signing players.

We could sign the World XI, but we would still be less than the sum of our parts under Ole.
I believe that if we signed both Messi and Ronaldo, Ole would find a way to screw that up.
Probably playing Messi as a CDM and Ronaldo as a CM.
Wasn't Bruno being played in the CDM role in our last match? When I saw that, I could not believe how tactically inept Ole is.

Yeah, this club needs to enter the modern era. A top manager, a top DOF and a new, fresh coaching team with fresh, modern ideas. No more looking to the past and filling the coaching staff with Middle-of-the-road coaches that worked with Fergie years ago. We need our coaching staff, and players, to start being there on merit not on length of service or connection to the past.

Is too hasty to suggest Chris wilder? he gives off the vibes that Rodgers did when he came up to the premier league with swansea that he is more than just a flash in the pan manager having a one off good premier league debut season and actually has the potential manager for a top 4 side.

It's not like wilder plays horrible alladyce/dyche type football, its actually progressive good football to watch with the fluidity to his team's formation that produces overlapping centre backs when in possession.

If wilder was a foreign manager there would probably be more hype about him getting the chance to manage a big club like nuno santo got last season despite him playing a more pragmatic style of football with a far better team on paper.

Still probably too soon for him for an elite CL level club. But in am curious as to where the likes of Wilder, Santo, Rodgers etc go to next.

The formula for the CL level PL sides recently has been to hire established managers with CL experience.

It's probably due to him being in Ligue 1 but it's surprising that no one talks about Villas Boas, he is doing a remarkable job at Marseille with a team that isn't particularly strong. He has managed to build what seems to be genuine team spirit and a lot of resiliency. Maybe he could do a Rodgers and make a successful comeback in the Premier League, he is also still pretty young for a manager at 42 years old.

Does Marseille play good progressive football with attacking intent, because l have vague memory of Villas Boas Tottenham team it wasn't a great watch unfortunately they were heavily reliant on individual brilliance of Bale.

I don't watch Marseille every weeks but they have looked good, well organized defensively and good movements offensively. It's a limited team talent wise but they play with nice balance. I wouldn't say that it's a lot different to what you will see from Gladbach or Leipzig.

Yeah Bruno took over Pereira's position as the DM on 72' nowhere near the box, with Mata & Greenwood ahead. Chasing the win & we put him even deeper? Comical. Even before that he was more involved in the initial building up phase. James & Mata were invisible. Martial was literally on his own surrounded by Wolves 3 CBs.

Let's not forget he had Pogba playing as a DM when he was fit with Lingard/whoever as 10 ruining every attack too. Why would anyone expect different with Bruno? The man is completely clueless.

I think we've gotten all our managers post Fergie wrong.

This analogy may be poor but I see Moyes and Ole as the Pereiras of managers - not good enough/out of their depth and are meant for low tier teams. While Van Gaal and Mourinho are like the Sanchez of Managers - once one of the best but were past it when we got them.

So we should be looking at the Haaland of managers - the top talents and hot prospect hungry for success. Nagelsmann Marco Rose etc fall into this. Or we could look at the De Bruyne of managers - currently the best in the world. Guardiola, Klopp and maybe Conte fall into this category. Or the Firminos of managers - good but not the best currently eg Tuchel, Pochettino, Rodgers etc.

Any of these type of managers would be an improvement on the coaching we've seen post Fergie

De Bruyne’s and Firmino’s. I think we are too big for a Haaland manager unfortunately.

It's a complete bullshit argument. Poch is a loser but Ole is in elite class of managers because he's won the norwegian league.

I think our biggest problem is that we fail to acknowledge that the rot started long before Sir Alex left. At one point the guy was papering the cracks. At board level, United still operate like a team stuck in the 80s. The manager basically does everything. We lack a CEO who understand football, a DOF, a sporting director and a head of recruitment ie specialised people in specialised jobs who takes away from the manager the tasks he lacks experience in. Managers won't ask for that tasks to be removed from their hands as at United they are like children being given carte blanche in a sweet shop. They can sign whoever they want with little to no accountability. We must therefore do it ourselves.
