I am so damn jealous of Bayern now.

Looks like they are going for Davies at LB & Dest at RB.

A Canadian & American youngster on opposing wingbacks looks hell as interesting if it works out especially the way those two attack.

Dest looked fantastic in the games I've seen him in, decent on the ball but is equally comfortable defending.

I was absolutely sceptical with this transfer, thought the gap between MLS and EU top club was to steep for him. Glad to be proven wrong, even more amazing than the quality of his play is the consistency he displays. May become a really big thing :)

@awop he's a canadian citizen, a Liberian by his parents and born on Ghana soil in a refugee camp. 17 CN caps so far, doubt he would change (if that was possible which i dont know)
He and his family have a very special story. His parents fled war in Liberia to Ghana and lived several years in a refugee camp where Alphonso was born.

For those of you that like fairy tales!

Serious player. Absolute athlete. Type of left back we need.

What is it with Bayern and their fullbacks? Lizarazu, Lahm, Alaba, Davies

Has he declared for Canada? Hope not as he'll be chucking his international career down the shitter.
Well, they literally saved his family and gave him a proper life, so it's nice to see him show some loyalty. Exciting times for Canadian soccer, along with that Jonathan lad that plays for Genk

If you stop being a fan after a bad performance, you're not a fan!

He'll be begging to swap shirts with anyone come full time.
Bad performance, no atmosphere, uninspiring Frank on the sidelines..

Davies checked out and Sancho is on the phone to Woodward as we speak.

Zlatan was 45 and Pogba got offered a billion pounds a day.
United can still attract the big players. I also think we are an attractive prospect moving forward and obviously we pay well. Imagine we are in the driving seat if Sancho wants to come back to England. Playing infront of 76,000 each week at The Theatre of Dreams trumps nearly half of that at a ghostly Stamford Bridge.

He moved to Manchester (to the side that's good) once before and got the feck out as soon as possible. He hates rain, Coronation Street and gravy on everything.

He's in the Rashford mafia and would be given the number 7. It's meant to be.

He's also mates with Tyrone Dobbs and Chesney.

Great talent and Bayern tactically used him excellently in the 2nd half by congesting the right to then make a diagonal switch to the left hand side where he utilised his pace brilliantly with his direct play. Plus it helped that Reece James was so naive in his play.

Every time I watch this kid, I have massively conflicting feelings. I'm a United fan first and foremost, but I've watched Fonzie (as Davies was affectionally known in Vancouver) from the moment he stepped on the pitch for the Whitecaps' first team at age fifteen. It was obvious he was already head and shoulders above most other MLS players even at that tender age. His personal story only adds to the goodwill I and everyone in Vancouver have toward him, and it was obvious from very early on that we wouldn't be able to hold on to him. But then he went and tried out with United, and I was excited. No idea why United punted on the opportunity, but as soon as I heard he was going to Bayern instead, my heart sank. And it sinks now every time I see him because as happy as I am for him (he really is a genuinely great kid), I think he could be doing this for United now if United had seen his worth at the time, a worth we could all see out here in this relative football backwater. Yet another sign of things being very wrong at the club. At least I can support him when he plays for the national team.

The fact that he was clowning on another talented young full back (who happens to be older) speaks volumes.

He never trialled with United. He was training with the national team at the time and the Whitecaps refused him permission to go train with United.

I watched him as well and even though he played left wingback for them before, He was obviously mostly deployed as a forward to take advantage of his pace and skill, and I didn't think he would be able to make the step up to a top european league. In his early days at Bayern he struggled a bit, and I thought he would be a failed winger, but fair play to them for properly converting him. If he came here, I think he would be struggling like James is now.

It just shows our clubs inadequacy, we also trialed Martinelli and released McNeil in favour of players like Chong. People think we've got problems with recruitment at the first team but the rot goes right down to the youth academy too.

Bayern have Alaba and Davies for LB right now! I bet Flick is thankful they have CB problems so Alaba can get game time at CB. But once Sule and Hernandez come back, how is he going to manage the both of them.
