I think what has hit their mentality, is the fear of -not- getting top 4 after that first half of the season. Most of the players aren't used to it, and once they lost a couple and the thought "We surely can feck this up now, can we?" appeared, it seems to have created somewhat of a collective meltdown. It could get even worse, hopefully it does.
I don't think it's anything to do with mentality. When teams significantly outperform their level on a wave of momentum and good form, the fall off is often dramatic.

It's what makes their title winning season even more remarkable.

But how? Ole is shite and Brendan ‘already stamped his style on Leicester and has them playing brilliantly’

It must be true because I read it from the Ole experts on the caf!
Calm down, they are still 9 points above us. We'd be lucky to come near them considering our next few fixtures.

Leicester have no depth in their squad, not at all surprising they have dropped points.

Getting smug because we're only points behind Leicester. You were right all along!

The overrating of their squad especially from Ole in gang was quite something here. They are overachieving massively considering the squad they have. Will still finish top 4 comfortably.

They're a good side who relied on a lot of individual brilliance and have really poor squad depth so they struggled to cope with injuries. I know most of the Leicester fans here can be alright but they were warned they might be overperforming, xG caught up with them and Vardy couldn't continue his superhuman return, which unfortunately was always going to happen. This season's shown what they need for summer so in the long term this blip is beneficial. They've well exceeded expectations this season, there was a big hole left by the traditional top 6 this season and Leicester have filled it admirably and if they end up getting CL they'll have fully deserved it.

If we can come out of our next 4 or 5 games with positive results then I can see us catching them. Maddison has been very average this season too, which should be a warning to us to stay away.

If we can beat Everton at Goodison Park, then it will not only be a huge confidence boost to us, but will also put alot of pressure on the likes of Leicester.

I'm hoping Pogba returns soon, because having two central players with top class line breaking ability/playmaking capability, will be the difference. The class of Pogba and Bruno I believe in tandem will be the difference.

There were a few Leicester fans here who got annoyed at the whole 'xG correction' thing.

Isnt it a bit hasty to start downplaying what Rodgers has done with Leicester over the past 12 months, He still has Leicester in a very strong position to get a champions league place after losing their supposed best defender and not having to splash out on replacing him.

xPt is still silly. xG a great stat though. Although to give points just because someone misses chances is stupid.
3-0 and 5-0 is still only 3 points. Not by xG though.

While I don't put as much stock in xG as others, Leicester were really over performing by that metric during their early season run, there's no way they could have sustained that kind of form for an entire season. Injuries haven't helped either.

That Leicester team was basically built, it's not like Rodgers is some kind of miracle worker. I think quite a lot of good managers would've got a song out of that team, it's a well balanced squad. He also took over a team who had just about completed their transitional phase while Arsenal, United, Tottenham and Chelsea all simultaneously began one, he's done a very good job but it's not like the one Raneri did, make no mistake.

Hoping this is finally starting to be realised. If we’re debating if Maguire was worth £80 million, Maddison for £100 million would be mental. Take out corners/free kicks from his stats...

During their remarkable run xG said it was a freak, more freakish than any other over-performance of xG since understat had covered the PL. A few of us were talking about it in this thread earlier in the season, much to the irritation of the Leicester fans on here (that now seem to have largely disappeared).

I thought they were far enough ahead to seal top 4 but they’ve crashed pretty hard.
They weren't happy to hear it at all

I had a feeling they could drop out of the top 4 earlier on in the season and I'm clinging on to the hope that they do as we can take their spot

As a Leicester fan - very worried. Our "poor form" stretches back since we last drew against Norwich in December, before then getting consecutively hammered by Liverpool and Man City - it's just we'd built up a good lead by that point, and every other team has also been inconsistent.

Just so many problems. Our main problem is we have no wingers. Perez is invisible and does not fit our system at all, and Barnes puts in the occasional excellent performance but for the most part is still is very raw and inexperienced. Coupled with the fact that Vardy has been injured, and then hasn't looked right at all since coming back from injury, then all of our attacking threat has dried up. It's crazy that our best attacking threat has been our right-back. Nacho has actually looked fairly good recently (was unlucky to not get the goal vs Norwich) but when Vardy's fit he's unlikely to start.

Midfield wise, Tielemans has had a relatively poor season (and has been dropped a few times) but luckily Maddison and N'didi were playing out of their skin, which carried us somewhat. Now Maddison's form has dropped, N'didi has been out injured, and Brendan has insisted on playing Choudhury (who I personally do not rate at all) far too much. Yesterday, for example, we'd have been far better with Tielemans, Maddison and Praet (who did admirably as a 3 against Man City), but for some reason Choudhury came in for Tielemans, and then did nothing all game.

Defensively, we are still fairly solid, barring 1 exception. Kasper isn't in the best form, but still fairly reliable. Ricardo is outstanding - our best attacker AND best defender. Evans is an absolute rock. Soyuncu is fantastic, most of the time. And Chilwell is absolutely garbage. It's amazing the amount of posts I've seen on this forum saying that you'd look to buy Chilwell, because I'd drive him to Manchester myself. Defensively he's average at best, and tends to drop at least one clanger a game that costs us a goal. As an attacking threat, he offers nothing, and watching him and Barnes try and attack down the left makes me despair. The only things he has going for him really is he's young, English, and has good stamina.

So yes, very worried indeed. I honestly think Man United are more likely to finish above Leicester at this point, because you're looking much better currently, while I couldn't tell you where our next win would come from.

Tielemans was wanted by many of our fans and I argued with many that he wasn't as good as the hype suggests. It's pity for your club that he's been "relatively poor" though.

Nice summary! Good to hear from a Leicester fan.

Would you be looking for a Vardy replacement/backup this summer? He's not getting any younger and these niggly injuries seem to be taking their toll on his fitness.

The Chilwell remark is interesting. I’ve seen more than a few rumbles on Twitter about him. The general narrative within the media is that he’s great, and supporters of other teams tend to rate him highly and want him to replace their own left backs (Shaw, Alonso, Kolasinac and even Mendy have been pilloried). Yet plenty of Leicester fans seem to think he’s shite.

Its confusing, because I was led to believe that it's only a lack of coaching that leads to poor runs of form or injuries affecting results. Now I dont know what to think.

They were not as good as they performed in the first half of the season and they aren’t as bad as they current form shows. I still think that they’ll finish in top 4 though, since their competition is equally inconsistent.

You can tell he's got talent and quality on the ball. He's capable of playing some excellent incisive passes. But he has a few glaring weaknesses.

1. He's really slow. He makes Maguire seem like The Flash.
2. He doesn't seem particularly fit - he always seems the most knackered player on the pitch by the end of the game.
3. The most perplexing one - he seems to lack concentration. He seems to think he has far more time on the ball than he actually does, and often gets dispossessed after dawdling on it for far too long, or he underhits a short pass while being unaware of oncoming attackers and loses the ball in a silly manner. Stark contrast to Maddison, who is excellent at retaining possession of the ball.

He has natural quality on the ball though, so I'm just hoping he irons out some of these flaws in his game (or at least the 3rd and maybe second - can't see him getting any faster...)

Most teams will have a dip of form over the course of the season. This is their dip.

They had 19 shots against Norwich away which suggests they didnt finish well

United have a good first team and so does Leicester and a thin squad. So who knew missing (out of form) key players would hurt both their performances?..
That wasn’t what we were told though, plenty of people desperate to absolve Ole of any blame told us Leicester have a much better side than us.

The truth has always been that United have a better side and squad and that Brenton was overachieving whilst Ole was underachieving. Let’s hope this role reversal continues from now until the run-in. A win tomorrow and a final day win at Leicester would make the gap just 3 points, so it’s all there to play for.

Liverpool, even now, is the biggest overperformance of xG I have ever seen.

They have 22 more points more than xG would indicate !

Luck, as they say, evens itself out eventually. The Vermin will have a relegation-form season in the not-too-distant future if this hypothesis holds up. It’s absolutely mind-boggling how they can accumulate so many points from so many abhorrent performances this season. It should be the premiere character study in sporting anomalies for years to come.

Who said that? I never.

You catch my drift mate. People are so black and white on here, a run of good or bad form can change the outlook for any team.

At the end of the day plenty of Ole haters have used Rodgers at Leicester as ‘proof’ Ole is shite.
Im not sure but I would bet a tenner your one of them? ;)
