Yeah, I'm sure it's funny when your own club isn't involved.

Just when you thought things couldn't get worse you can always count on Klinsmann to reach another low. Seriously, what's wrong with him?

The worst part though is that, as one former Hertha journalist tweeted, "If you remove the I'm-Jürgen-and-I-made-no-mistakes-whatsoever parts then 98% of what was written is an accurate description of the internal workings at Hertha".

I hope Windhorst will use his powers to install some capable people in key positions. That would probably be an even bigger contribution than all those millions he gave us.
To be honest im kind of indifferent towards Hertha .. like most people I guess..

But without trying to be an asshole I think the club brought this on itself. You can only sell these shares once, it's your one shot at making a huge leap as a club and Hertha didn't do this from a position of strength (to leverage positive momentum into something even bigger), but rather one of (more or less) mediocrity and stagnation. Worse, they entrust this once in a lifetime chance to Klinsmann, presumably mostly because he he has a famous smile and instead of trying to do their homework and invest into continuous growth they do all this cringy big city club/90k stadium talk that no one buys and try to cut corners with expensive transfers. I can empathize with a Hertha fan's grief and shock, but towards the club I don't feel any of that. The likes of Hamburg and 1860 showed them what they were getting into.

Bayern fans, you think it'll be Gnabry or Muller playing as CF vs Hoffenheim?

i would normally expect Gnabry, but with Coman out it will probably be Müller. Otherwise there would be no winger on the pitch.
müller
coutinho - goretzka - gnabry

I hope we're finally past those Müller CF experiments. Maybe Zirkzee will get a game or two in the league.
Müller actually was fine playing as centre forward with Pep.

The problem with Müller and Gnabry is that we both need them elsewhere. Especially with Coman and Perisic out. Müller and Gnabry switching position as centre forward/hanging striker usually should be an option I would like to see as then both could very well play out their strengths.

Another option this weekend is Wriedt who is suspended in Friday's third league match of Bayern II but eligible again Saturday. He is top scorer of the third league.

according to some, Wriedt is nowhere near the first team but maybe Flick has a differnt view of things (he used Zirkzee as sub/joker lately, not Wriedt, if that is a hint) but Zirkzee is not deemed to be tactically fit to play as main striker either yet - going in for the last 10 minutes to find a hole and smash one in is a different thing from being a starter and having to match in the processes set for the whole attack team :)
Having a 2nd team youngster play while a caliber like Coutinho is warming the bench makes no sense either, so if i had to bet it would be Müller moving up and Coutinho taking his free roam #10 role, or Goretzka as #10 and Cou substituting Coman. Cou can use some play time and confidence, he may be needed later in the season badly, as i think the 4 weeks out time estimate for Lewa is kinda optimistic.

You can't blame Hertha. They wanted to be a "big city club" and entertain, and thats exactly what they do now  . Cheers to Union, its obvious the better and more sympathetic club. Hertha to 2. Liga, Union stays in the Bundesliga, i would be fine with that.

1-0 for Düsseldorf against the Big City Club. What a soft goal to concede. Just three points away from the playoff at the moment.

edit: 2:0 now, with just under 10 minutes played

Well I'll take this kind of entertainment. :)
That was an insane match, could have finished 5:5. And Cunha looks special, he's off to a promising start in Berlin. Now if Nouri could find a defensive scheme that actually works that would be terrific.

Removing Kovac has been more valuable for Bayern than spending 260mil in transfer fees. Stunning performance today against an admitedly crappy Hoffenheim.

0:6 and another interruption because the bayern fans are showing banners about Hopp. Not sure what to make of that. The league has to find a way to deal with this, that doesn't involve multiple breaks during the game.

Why is the game stopped? Did the fans had some, gasp, inappropriate songs?!
Because the league has broken it's promise of doing away with collective punishments and is deploying anti racism protocols to protect the feelings of a billionaire. What we see today and last matchday in Gladbach trying to show solidarity with Dortmund's fans and a united front against the German FA. The game in Dortmund has also been interrupted briefly due to Hoppism.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here. This reaction seems a bit over the top compared to when there is racist abuse from the stands for example. It's a stupid and childish insult more than anything. Not sure it warrants interrupting the match.

Timo Werner has/d to endure the same chants every game for a year or so, in some stadiums to this day - even from Hoffenheim's crowd. The same insult that is being leveled at Hopp is being used against Dortmund every single match. No one cares, commentators, referees, DFB just ignore it. Basically the same for racism, you only hear about that after the match.
But fans using the everyday language of the stadiums against Hopp, for buying his club into Bundesliga and we get entire away sections banned, match interruptions and the threats of cancellations.

I think at this point it's much more about principle for the fans who do this than it is about Hopp himself.

This is ridiculous. The league couldn't have handled this worse. Today it doesn't really matter because the game was over, but that's going to happen again and again now. What on earth are they thinking.

Never forget that Hoffenheim used actually damaging noise underneath the Dortmund stand to attempt to stop the chants against Hopp. But sure, calling someone a son of a whore is way worse. Totally doesn't have to do with all the connection Hopp has to the officials.

So they don't like someone putting money into a club? It isn't like he has blown they other clubs out of the water.
Bundesliga has the 50+1 rule to prevent what Hoffenheim and Leipzig have done. At this point it isn't about Hopp anymore etiher, but the DFB giving him more protection than anyone else, be it players, fans or victims of racism.

Son of a whore? That's it?

I've been called much worse three times today, and that until noon.
Well previous banners included a face of him in crosshairs...it's not entirely harmless and cracking down on hate speech is not necessarily a bad idea. Besides I'm still annoyed by fans of Bayern and Dortmund complaining about a rich owner but that's another story...

So how do your clubs finance themselves etc? I am really curious.

Like any other club does? With sponsoring, ticket and merchandise sales and competition/tv payouts?

Listening to the Sky joker you'd think Bayern's fans had killed someone.

Right, but won't the likes of Bayern be able to get the mega sponsorship deals and other won't? Actually sounds like United but a lot better run.

This is utterly bizarre watching this.

Hopp on the pitch now. Hope he's giving a speech. Coutinho looks mystified. Probably thinks the old bloke with the grey hair must be the new pope.
