This what I wrote re Vinland Saga final on both Reddit and MAL. Guess I would like to share it here as well.

My mind is still absolutely blown.
I for one don't think Askeladd's death was unpredictable. The preview for the episode said "a shocking ending to the man who gave his all" or something, so he had death flags all over him. It was kinda expected since this is just a prologue that Thorfinn won't be the one to kill him, as he would have achieved his goal then and will be the end of his arc, so he should be killed by someone else to help Thorfinn develop and realize the meaning of his father's worlds and life, about the meaning of being the true warrior and all that.
However, the totally mind blowing thing is how this went on. I was totally blown when Askeladd insulted the king then beheaded him. How this went on, fecking hell that was ridiculous. I was expecting him to kill the king in a strategic way as usual. Maybe Canute would kill him later as a revenge for Ragnar or something, but how this went on, unbelievable. I think he wasn't just putting an act only, yes he did but at the same time he really lost his mind when the king insulted his mother as a slave, as he showed a similar reaction in episode 20 when the king said the same thing. In one way he got his revenge on the king for insulting his mother, saved Wales and prepared the stage for Canute to claim the throne. Truly a remarkable way to die. Masterpiece of a writing.
I am not going to jump into the manga for now for the hope of experiencing this fully animated one day. The next arc, I suppose, should be all about how Thorfinn will go on with his life now. It's the beginning of the development of him, now that he lost his goal and his life has become empty, whether he will set his sights on Canute or give up on the revenge idea all together and start understanding what happened to his father to make him change his life.
A masterpiece of an anime. I always thought it's a 9/10 but with such a finale it can't be anything less than 10/10. Honestly it'd be pretty hard to spoil it for anyone. Even if you know one or 2 things, predicted one or 2 events, the mangaka has enough tools under his sleeve to totally surprise you and feck up with your mind. I haven't stopped replaying the final episode since it was aired till now.
Askeladd is one of the best ever anti hero characters I have seen in anime. His character is so well written its phenomenal, from his back story to his life and his glorious death. He started as an obvious villain then gradually became a main character, more of an antihero and sometimes even a protagonist. The mangaka has done a marvelous job in creating such a complex character that forces you to keep jumping from loving to hating to loving him again. Everything about him is perfect to the moment that I can't believe how the story will go on without him. If a season 2 is ever announced, I'm sure I will take a long time to get accustomed to the idea of him not appearing anymore. For a long time for me Vinland Saga will always equal Askeladd for me, just like how Psycho pass equals Makishima, Monster equals Johan Libert, Death note equals L and so on for me. He's as memorable as them. But considering how genius the mangaka has shown himself to be, I won't be surprised if he had succeeded in creating similar brilliant characters in the rest of the story that I hope I will experience it through anime one day

Anyone watching the new Haikyuu!!
I don't know if any of you watched an anime called Cross Game, I watched the first episode just now and that shit hit me really hard.
Shit didn't read the title of the spoiler.
Ah, I thought, it was better done in the manga. But I feel they have done really well after to compensate this change. I liked the beginning but I stopped watching/reading once it was really focused on the sport itself since I don't care about base-ball. A pity Adachi does any sport except football (been told there is one of his manga his MC is first into football but pick another sport soon after).
I'm honestly still feeling the impact of the first episode, I think I can kind of relate to it and I don't know why I keep thinking about it after every episode.

Decided to finally watch Haikyuu. On season 2 episode 14 now. Very good but tbh I will still have Hajime no Ippo and Slam Dunk as my top 2 best sports anime. Though Haikyuu so far is better than Eyeshield 21 regarding pacing (but Eyeshield so far had better epic and memorable moments). I dropped Prince of Tennis after 10 episodes because I couldn't withstand the main character.
Let's see how the reminder of season 2 and then season 3 of Haikyuu go on. Season 4 is also currently being aired too, so plenty of episodes to watch.

I'm miffed that it was Netflix that got the license to Dorohedoro. One of my favorite manga, finally adapted and being shown in Japan, but I'm gonna have to wait 6 months before we can see it here.
Finally caught up with Attack on Titan this week. Means only current series I'm watching is MHA. Gonna watch some of the Oscar movies over the weekend then watch Episode 2 of Dr. Stone and go from there.

You mentioned you're new to anime, what anime have you enjoyed, and what are you watching currently?
I have only watched one series, and that was All Out a Rugby Anime which I enjoyed. Any recommendations for me to start? A few people have said Naruto?
I recently watched Bakuman by the mangakas of Death Note, it's very interesting, I liked it a lot I wish it was a bit longer though, there's many topics they could've covered still.
I would ask what genre of cinematography appeals to you most? If you are into sporty type stories, I would recommend Hajimeno Ippo, boxing anime and very classy. Naruto will give you a very slight glimpse into what anime has to offer.
If you're interested in the sport genre, I'd recommend Ping Pong the Animation. The graphics are unique, and the story is inspiring. You'll definitely be able to personally indentify with some of the characters, as it has a huge focus on the psychology of both the players, and those that are spectators. What do you hope to get out of anime? Is it purely entertainmen /escapismt? Would you like an anime that will inspire you /position you to be reflective on how you operate in real life? What genres as Joaquin said, appeal to you?
I am pretty open to anything really. I do enjoy the sporting stories but would like to venture in the more thought inducing story arcs aswell.
Death Note, Monster or Death Parade are quite thought-inducing. And they are relatively short, compared to Naruto.
I like too Sidonia no Kishi (hard sci-fi), Puella Magi Madoka Magica (watch at least 3 episodes, it isn't a kid anime for small girls) and Mawaru Penguin (all the things we could speculate after each episode).

If you're only just getting into anime, and don't mind something that's a tad older, I'd recommed watching Cowboy Bebop. Not only is it really good on so many levels, it's also a good gateway anime. It's one of the few shows I can play for my friends (that cannot understand I like "cartoons") which they enjoy.
Cross game, a slice of life/sport(baseball) anime, very nice story.

Problem with OP anime is episodes contain a lot of filler and only cover 1 chapter per episode, unlike most other anime that cover many chapters per episode, it's still very enjoyable since the story is really good and it's one of, if not, the best manga ever.
@JoaquinJoaquin Samurai Champloo is really good too. That, Cowboy Bebop & Hunter x Hunter would be my top picks.

Yeah, they've been really good, lots of Wano reveals and teases about the endgame. Though I must admit... I caught up with the manga after a long break of not reading in late october and since then there's been nothing but flashbacks so I'm kinda longing for the story to get back to the present time l0l.
Should be back to the present by next chapter hopefully.
