He's been ridiculous this season. I'm happy he didn't get called up for the Brazilian NT, as ridiculous as that decision is.

I'm gonna be honest he's absolutely world class on this kind of form! The energy he possesses is just unbelievable and he's got genuine quality to match. Thank the lord City didn't get him as he would have been the perfect Fernandinho replacement.

If he doesn’t get player of the season then it’ll be an even worse decision than that yellow he got today when it was clearly a pen.

His stamina willingness and attitude to get about is incredible. I think the best word to describe him is relentless.
Does some things I honestly can’t get my head round at times. Be on the deck against 3 players some how can turn on his ass get a tackle in and come out with the ball. Even better he is starting to throw in some fantastic passes. Unlucky with a few today.

I can't believe it. We all owe him an apology. He is a Manchester United player.

He's a real machine. Just coming into his prime years as well. This is just the beginning.

Unbelievable performance yet again. I gave my MOTM to Martial but really it was Fred who had the better game I think.

He was so good today that he needed the referee to stop him,and yet the ref couldn't

On this form he’s one of the best midfielders in the world. What an amazing turn around from him. Incredible
No doubt about that. His range of qualities and the level he is currently playing at is tremendous. Consistency this season has been Kante levels.

First 10/10 rating i've given this season. He won that game for us. City couldn't get a second of space in midfield, he was everywhere.

He’s fecking brilliant. Player of the season for me given Rashford’s injury.

He was good today and he's been good for most of the season. BUT (oh there's always a but isn't there) I feel his ability to win the ball back really has to improve if he wants to move up a level. Look at Fernandino, he's so good at winning the ball back. That's the level Fred needs to be at!

Fred needs to bribe the officials first to get away with all the fouls Fernandinho makes. remarkable how he doesn’t get a red every two games.

Fred is good at winning the ball back, but he can loose it too easily at times. He’s a little weak against bigger opponents

I was totally wrong about Fred, I thought he looked awful and would be one of our worst ever signings.

He's been unbelievable in the last 5 or 6 months, his energy levels are sensational. Quality on the ball too, he deserves so much praise for turning things around.

Played very well. Still misses to many easish passes to put someone through.

For example on mctominays goal the through ball to ighalo was horrendous.

Apart from Everton hes been brilliant the last few months

He's doing ok. Runs his heart out. He can make a decent pass but (and yes there is a but with me also) there are flaws in his game:

He totally lacks any form of composure giving the impression of "the headless chicken" which some posters have likened him with.
He gives the ball far too often to other players when the pass is not on, thus putting other players under pressure.
Because of his light frame he's too easily disposessed and knocked off the ball.
His tackling has improved but he still has no bite and therefore opposing plays can go past him relatively easy.
Still can't see a goal in him and seems to lack confidence in the final 3rd.

I believe he needs to be played in a far more attacking role as his small frame limits him too much in defensive situations. He needs to get on the front foot and get used to having the ball in the final 3rd and having to make the right decisions in that part of the field. If he can get that right and start making assists and getting a goal or two then he would be much more useful to us.

Must be one of the biggest turnarounds ever. Looks settled now and is a quality player, what a signing.

My MOTM & so far my POTY

If you still have your doubts about Fred, then sorry but you need to contact your doctor and ask to get your head examined. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, he is without a shadow of the doubt the most improved player in the country by a billion miles! He just keeps getting better and better the more I see him.

What a magnificent performance! He was everywhere today. Had the heart of a lion and didn’t give the City midfield time to control and overrun us.

That pass he played forward to try to get to James was in the 96th minute and he had been sprinting non stop for the whole match. I don't blame him for that pass. He simply doesn't jog back from position to position. He sprints back. He is on the left wing, then in the CF position then on the right wing and then in the centre and then in the DM position. Sprinting non stop. I think next season he will be much better. If any of our players is injured he is the first on the spot. He is the player who surprised everyone but his improvement. He is a Brazilian International so once he gets used to the PL he will get better obviously.

Fred was my close second MOTM. The reason I didn't vote him because of only one thing. City' game plan was to isolate bruno while pressing Fred knowing he is not at his best when pressed. The plan worked well. Fred couldn't distribute to Bruno throughout the game. He needs to improve that one aspect asap because teams have found out way to pause fred-bruno partnership.

However, Fred compensated it by working overtime elesewhere.

Not sure I agree. He's pretty good at winning the ball back already. One of the stronger areas of his game.

This man is a machine. His wife must be a happy woman ;) .

Fred, Maguire, Rashford, Bruno. We have so many standout POTY. It will be a closed call decision.

To be fair to us, he was awful for a long time and genuinely looked like 50 million wasted. If anyone on here saw something in Fred a year ago, please quote yourself so you can bask in your own glory and showcase your supreme footballing knowledge to us regular mugs

The amount of energy he has is mind boggling. Kept pressing up the pitch till the 94th minute.

He is becoming a player who always gives a minimum of 7/10. But very often he's coming out with 9s and 10s.

Player of the season for sure.

I agree, he’s not as bad as is thought and we’ve not seen anywhere near what he’s capable of.

I think he’ll come good, needs some consistent playing time - in and out of the side constantly makes it very difficult.

It’s a consistent picture across much of the team, under performing, hopefully Ole can get more out of them.
Called it
