It's amazing Tyler is still going. I'm 50 now, and yet I remember him reporting from the United hotel before the 76 cup final. I was 6

Where the grass is greener.
The Bruno remark was very clumsy. The rest is just typical sound byte chasing and hoping for exciting moments. Every teams support seem to think Tyler hates them.

Bloody hell get a grip. He's making a light hearted quip about a name! Bruno. The most famous Bruno is frank bruno. It's hardly some racist thing
he said bringing on a player built like Frank Bruno he was obviously talking about Ighalo.

Pretty sure he’s a gooner if anything (the OTT Wiltord rebound goal being good evidence). Pretty sure he wrote a book about them. He goes with the Sky narrative of having games be as theatrical as possible.

Undoubtedly he’ll claim the Woking card as media figures for some reason don’t like be seen as supporters of the bigger clubs, like how Adrian Durham swears he’s a Peterborough fan despite spending 80% of his show talking about Arsenal or Chick Young totally being a St Mirren fan and not at all a Rangers fan.

yes but how is Ighalo built like Frank Bruno? there nothing similar about them
It's a throwaway comment based on name. Ighalo has a bit of muscle to him, obviously not heavy weight boxer thing.
But the important thing is clamping down on actual prejudice, not trying to stir stuff up from nothing.

Just as a matter of interest, and I’m a poster who respects your posts, what do you think is the problem here? Please explain why it offends you so

Wow, are people seriously suggesting there was a hint of racism about Tyler's frank bruno remark?!

I'm going to sound like a boomer, but feck me its PC gone mad!!!

Yeah, it felt very much that way... it's on the line.

But I'm half Black (or half White, as no-one ever says...), and found it dodgy.

It's not something the guy should be losing his job over but it was certainly a bit dodgy - Neville's complete silence after the comment was telling.
Neville either got the humour or it went over his head. Or he's just saying stuff to look good when it suits him. Clearly was not intended to be a racist comment, why are you even complaining?

That may be true but frankly it's another example of a lazy trope, may as well have called him "powerfull" or a "beast".
Lazy trope? How many times do other footballers who aren't black get compared to people of their own race? Loads of times. Also, "beast" every footballer with talent is called a beast. EVERYONE. Also those that show a lot of strength, and it is not just limited to black players. Seriously, you lot are just seeing race everywhere.

HELLO
It was strange but he was just trying to say he has a big build, which he undoubtably does, with a typical commentator play on words.

Feel like some here can't stand any coverage that doesn't actively favour us. Nothing to see here IMO.

At the time I thought it was a bit weird, but he only said Frank Bruno because we were taking off Bruno at the time. It was supposed to be one of his "clever" play on words but it ended up sounding strange. Nothing racist about it, though.

He shouldn't be shoving narratives down the microphone though. All he has to do is commentate on the game that's happening in front of him.
United were defending well so you say that. If City break the defense and score a good goal he says that too.

Commentary has gone to hell
Agree, he did try to pain this picture of a late equaliser and even winner from City.

it's an exaggeration but it's obvious what he was meaning (and Iglaho is bigger than Bruno Fernandes). him being black has nothing to do with it, as others said, it's just word play.

Don't understand all the hate.

He does get overly dramatic sometimes and tries to paint a narrative to keep things interesting, and provoke talking points well after a match has finished and is successful at doing this - but he's also created some of the most iconic commentary pieces over the years and is synonymous with sport broadcasting around the world.

I just wish we had the option to silence the commentators, period. Or barring that, you could select which commentator to listen to with the match, one who rambles or one who just talks about the game happening right in front of them. Arlo, LeSaux, Dixon just won't shut up.

I listen to them for the derby, much prefer them to Gary Im not biased Neville.
