Would be a dream signing really. Can fill in as a DM but I feel he's more of a natural box to box player. Would be perfect beside Bruno as an 8 imo.

I guess if we got him, Sancho & Grealish for next season, the lineup will be something along the lines of the following:

Zakaria Fred
Sancho Bruno Grealish
Rashford

Watching Zakaria against Dortmund. He's playing centre back/sweeper.

Zakaria is a tricky one. If we managed to get this guy, we would essentially be getting someone in the mould of a Fernandinho who would be our DM but could also fill in at CB when either Maguire or Lindelof isn't available. That way we wouldn't need to spend on a CB for a couple years with Tuanzebe and Bailly also being available. We could also sell Smalling and use that money towards acquiring Zakaria. He would offer McTominay competition to lift each other's games and phase Matic slowly out. How much is he being quoted for?

Also what I like about Zakaria is that he looks like someone whose got great positioning and also his strength to outmuscle his opponent which means not many tackles required which in turn makes him less likely to get injured.

This is why I don't think we need Grealish. Shoehorning Rashford into the striker position when he has already proven he's not good enough there and how good he is on the left with a better endproduct than Grealish. How about putting Rashford back on the left and using the money for Grealish(60m maybe) to get a striker

......... .... Fred......... Zakaria. ...........

Sancho.......... Bruno......... Rashford

................Werner/Dembele...........

I don't watch as much football as I used to. Is he a player in the Saul mode?

Would this be an example of Brexit FC?

Zakaria is from Switzerland, which is outside of the EU. I guess our attempts to buy Haaland, Dybala and Koulibaly were also Brexit FC.

I think there are three things that are nailed down as long as Ole is our manager and they are as follows:
Martial will be our main central striker.
Rashford will be playing on the left side in an attacking role.
Mctominay will be a starting midfield player.

I am not sure what Ole will do in regards to the midfield in the summer but if Pogba stays I would not be surprised at all if there are no additions. A lot of posters seem to think that we will get rid of Andreas but under Ole at the start of the season he signed a new contract so I think he is going nowhere.
I cannot see us spending a lot of money on a player as a bench option but I can see us going for Grealish as he is so adaptable.

I see Jeremy Cross is linking him to us in tomorrow's papers, only trouble is the paper he works for is the very unreliable Daily Star but at least a UK journo is mentioning him which is a positive sign

He's citing Sky Germany as the original source who say United are leading the chase for his signature. Bild also reported in the last few days that United and Bayern are leading the chase for him.

Would be a fantastic signing and would be brilliant in the first phase of the build up and a very smart/intelligent player tactically that is blessed physically and has pace to burn.

How many do you think we will bring in this summer just out of interest, personally my gut feeling is 3 and could see the players being Sancho, Grealish (if Pogba leaves) and either a proper DM or Ighalo on a permanent deal.

I think if we bring in Ighalo on a permanent deal he won't be considered one of the three. I mean the dream (although I'm only taking it on the basis of what everyone on here is writing) is Sancho, Grealish, Zakaria, and Bellingham.

I'm thinking 3 too. And I'd be more than happy with 3 new recruits. Sancho, Zakaria, Grealish/Konate.

Not a fan of dembele personally, but that is the makings of one hell of a team. Even with Pogba leaving we'd have (for once) some strength in depth across the whole 11.

This. Swap dembele from the above lineup for Martial with Konate at CB and we're in business.

Promising young DM who's impressed in Germany this season, would be a shrewd summer signing as Matic's long term replacement.

The fact that a smartly ran club like Bayern are sniffing around him is telling

I really don't know what kind of point you're trying to make tbh.
I was just being sarcastic about that history vs money post. It was referring to Sanchez transfer between us and the City.
There's so much you can sell History, as we know, Villa and Leeds have decent histories also (many moons ago, they were European giants).

If we get him we have clearly turned a corner, it looks like we are finally learning..

Fred and Zakaria in the '2' of the 4231 with Bruno and the advanced role would be a quality and balanced midfield.

This should be our priority in midfield not Grealish/Maddison. An incoming RW (hopefully Sancho) and possibly another striker and we'd be one of the top 3 teams in the country.
