I can't believe it. We all owe him an apology. He is a Manchester United player.
I dont. I've been singing his praises on this forum for a long time and got slated on here a few months back when I claimed he was one of the best midfielders in the prem.

Well ok, I wasnt singing his praises last season to be fair but I did feel after the PSG game and the barca at home (I think) that there was a player in there somewhere.

Very pleased to see how he performs now week in and week out.

Love him. Will fight for every ball, his energy is terrific and he's still improving with every game. His synchrony with Bruno is also fantastic.

Dare I say he's the best Brazilian we've had at the club?

Wow i don't know what Ole has done to Fred, i think he's become our Kante. He runs at everyone and plants his foot anywhere and everywhere to get the ball. He was outright running at every City players and covered up for Matic, Bailly, Williams and Shaw on so many occasion. Not to mention his darting runs forward after passing it forward to Bruno. I'm already beginning to see big things happening for him if he continues to do this throughout his career at United. He can become the next big midfielder if he learned how to shoot when in dangerous areas. I already think he's improved heaps and bounce compared to how he started here, of course he's a Brazilian. There is something about them that's so different from the rest of the pack.

He is a monster. He still needs to improve his final quality but at least he knows what to do with the ball and avoids hoofing it up. Amazing player to have.

I think the praise for yesterday is a bit OTT. Our midfield couldn’t get hold of the ball for the entire second half. Fred just wasn’t as efficient as recently, gave up possession a few times and was run a bit ragged by City at times.

This man is a machine. His wife must be a happy woman ;) .

Fred, Maguire, Rashford, Bruno. We have so many standout POTY. It will be a closed call decision.
No wonder she married him twice

He's had a fantastic season. My POTY by far.

Excellent again from Fred. His consistency is phenomenal, he doesn't need to rest.

The only issue with Fred, one in every 7-8 passes is a terrible one that surrenders possesion. If he can stamp that out over time, he will be all the better for it.

He's had a good season and flourished under Ole.

closest thing to Kante there is in the league. Unbelievable fitness too because he has played a lot of games.

Yes, i love it! he was running even after 90 mins because they had 5 mins more to play and he was literally closing down players even then. I think if Kante saw it, he would think the way we do too.

He is so unlucky to be on 7 yellow cards this season because those last two were so harsh.

Never a dive in a million years.

Also I would love to have even a fraction of his energy, I was tired from just watching him run everywhere. Not seen something like it since Park.

Part of it, a lot of it, was because the backline just punted the ball away or into space. Midfield was a very congested place in the second half with Foden, Sterling, Rodri, Gundogan all going through the middle allowing Mahrez to have a lot of the ball on the flanks with overlaps and support from Cancelo.

Not many teams are going to be efficient with the ball and in possession trying to go forward against City. Fred was everywhere per usual and getting stuck in when United needed it most.

Is he the leading candidate for our player of the year?

I think it would have been Rashford had he continued his form mind.

I said it after the Liverpool game, Fred passed the examination to be a man in that match. He sits on the great table of best midfielders now, without favour or fear.

In the spurs game you will see him again, running again like a monster. His fitness levels are insane

He’s like park with the energy levels but he has a lot more finesse on the ball. He does have a horrible pass every few attempts but he keeps going and try’s to get us moving forward while doing a good defensive duty. He’s class and I’m really glad we’ve got him. He would have been a cracking signing for city. My player of the season. I’ve always said he looked class before he came in and there were signs there from early on he was going to be a good player. Glad he’s ours!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a massive Fred fan but too often the only out ball for the back four was Dan James on the half way line in motion. Would just like somebody in midfield showing for it a bit more. Appreciate that City made it very congested. Fred has had much better games this season. (Eg City away)

I don't think there is much of a debate for POTY at this point

He's been a colossus in midfield

He’s been absolutely superb for us this season. What a turnaround. You always need someone like Fred in the team who like gives the balance. He works so hard and has very good technique on him. We finally have a Brazilian who’s useful (sorry but Ando wasnt)

To think that the previous bitter and miserable shell of a manager we had previously was ready to bin him already towards the end of his tenure...

It's a case study in what real belief in a player can do instead of writing them off immediately

Rafael was good too but Fred seems on a different wave length, I am so happy that he is not only playing well but he always have smile on his face and first one to get involved with goal celebrations.

We need a happy bunch commited to the cause with out too much off filed antics and Fred sure falls in to that catageory.

Anderson was fantastic when fit in his first seasons at the club. He could have been a sensational player, to be honest.

When he does lose the ball, he's up and wanting to win it back again. I like him now, as he is starting to fit in nicely and gives his all every game.

His turnaround has been something else. PotS for sure so far.

Amazing that opposition fans still think he's among our worst players.

There was a Fred thread a while back talking about owing Fred an apology. I replied saying, this is a bit premature, lets see him carry on this form, because he's still been pretty awful up until this point. However, I'm gonna have to ease up on this stance because it's hard not to go all in on Fred on the back of his consistent performances for a while now, he's starting to look like the proper midfielder that we actually bought! I can't help but wonder, considering whats come out about him and Mourinho recently, if his old form is just lingering crap from that period, and now he's just starting to enjoy himself again, because regardless on whether you are Ole in or out, i can say that he at least doesn't bring a toxic environment with him.

Hope this guys form continues, because if it didn't, we would have needed at least 1 more midfielder in the summer, now i'd say we probably still need 2, but not 3.

Speculatively, what is the maximum distance he can run in 90 minutes?

Average pro footballer 11km per game.
Fred = ????

Man has three lungs. But it's just not the lungs, you need crazy durable muscles to sustain that amount of running.

We talk about how two footed Greenwood is but Fred is very impressive too.

Also I love how his touch and dribbling style is always either under or over done. He always opens his body no matter what the situation to try and play the ball into space or out of trouble. In a congested midfield and in the positions he plays, that's absolutely vital to opening the pitch up. It's high risk but with his natural Brazillian skill/flair and gangly legs, we play better for it.
