Loaded this up for the first time, and I’m amazed.

is there anything that I absolutely must do in this game?
Agree with just exploring. Although I quite liked the way I didn't explore too far from where I was based until I'd been to St Denis in the story. If you go there too quick it won't have the same effect on you. But yeah, take your time and don't blitz through the main missions.

Agree with the others, don't rush with the story, do all the side missions, upgrades etc. Once you finish the storey it won't feel the same, it didn't for me anyway.

how long until st Denis in the story?

I’m just after heading through an Indian reserve where you can run into people and knock them to the ground and they don’t react

You should definitely buy a decent horse makes the game more enjoyable

In the story? I swear that's pretty far on. Unless you're just wandering about.

St Denis is about half way I think. I did actually end up going there a little earlier but after I'd been playing a decent while. It blew my tiny mind.

what’s the best one to buy?
The Arabian is pretty good it’s the fastest, you might get one for free in your stable or that could be just for online players, not sure.
Otherwise you can catch one and train it.

Get a varmint rifle and shoot every little rodent or bird you see whilst riding around. It’ll make crafting your fancy pants outfits much easier.

You can't buy an Arabian until chapter 5 I think but you can tame on from chapter two onwards.

I can’t remember which horse I had before the Arabian been playing online so long, but I think your right takes a while to unlock.

Is there a point to get to in the story where you’ll have unlocked everything, and then can use some of the cheat codes?

Get to chapter 3-ish then start really fecking around/exploring/etc.

Not everything is unlocked if I recall but enough is. 4 might be better for cheat codes; the former is more for a semi-perfect perma-save where you’ll have more time to strut about in all your hard earned styles and guns for longer.

Google white Arabian location, I think it's next to lake Isabella on the top left hand side of the map.
I spent days trying to catch this fecking thing.

Well worth it though as it's bloody rapid!

Also, if you have trouble finding or taming the wild white one, there is a random encounter that happens in St Denis where you can get one. Minor spoilers about the random encounter just in case.

As soon as you can freely explore the world, as early as chapter 2 or 3 i think, you can go to St Denis yourself and you might run into this random encounter where a couple is threatened by a robber at gunpoint, and if you dont intervene then the guys wife gets shot. Afterwards as he's picking up his wife's corpse to place on his horse, you can just jump on his horse and ride away. It's a black arabian elite, and is already tame so you can just ride away. Enjoy

This might just be my favourite game of all time now, the story is absolutely fantastic and the scope is breathtaking.

Incredible immersive world isn't it? Despite the fact, that most of is in fields and forests.

Planning to pick this up when I finish GTA V and Ass Creed Odyssey - which is probably never and by that time GTA VI is out and Ass Creed Ragnarok. Also still need to finish TW3 Blood and Wine. Thought I'd have more time for it working from home but I feel like it's less.

Is that a game or a feature length porno?
