I don't understand the logic of stopping people from going out for a run. Italy and France have stopped people from doing this.
Unless I'm mistaken you can still run in France, you have to do near your home. Cycling has been banned/discouraged though.

So what's going on here? Germany has halved the number of new infection compared to the previous day. Either just luck or social distancing works really well there. Bans on going out are only just being introduced right now so that can't be it. With Austria it's more plausible the government's action are starting to show an effect as they acted much earlier.

People have to be able to get out for fresh air. So many Italians live in apartments. They must be going crazy.
There are several large blocks of flats near our vet's surgery which have been having work done on the outside for a long time, and they're completely enclosed with scaffolding covered with plastic sheeting - so those people can't even look out their windows. Ironically, the work is to install balconies for everyone.

Perhaps they can get onto the roof.

That’s excellent news. Should be legislated for a period of time.
Definitely, I can see this being implemented longer term alongside further measures to help those who really it maybe leave the 1st hour every morning to health workers and the vulnerable.
As I driver, we finish our shifts at either 6 or 7pm and there is literally nothing left for us.

Nevermind career ending, he should be going to prison. That decision will cost thousands of lives.
Piers Morgan was the editor that ran a story on the front page about UK troops torturing Iraqis, yet was actually a picture from a Territorial Army Unit in the UK - no doubt that cost British lives.

his career went from strength to strength, and is now the most hypocritical scumbag in the media.

Every single one of Bill Mitchell’s tweets should have those first four words as the precursor. He should also be limited to five words per tweet.

While Morgan is obviously a tiresome gobshite that can and almost always should be ignored @shippersunbound is the political editor at the Sunday Times. He's also got an axe to grind but is a bit more respected as a journalist.

Could also be a slowdown after a huge amount of testing, they have pushed the limit on kits and testing labs and will ramp up again soon. The numbers will vary as they will wildly as they do another 160k tests soon. They could find a bunch more then find hardly any later in the week as they test faster than the spread.

That chilling video of the hospital in Italy makes me angry that life is still fairly normal where I am. The fact that my company even feels it necessary for it continue through these times bemuses me. So many have shown how much they value others' lives and safety.

I suspect because Western Governments are realising that you cannot trust us dumb feckers to take any notice of advice. For example the National Trust closed their shops, cafes and houses some time ago but made the decision to keep the grounds open and free of parking charge to allow folks to still exercise and walk the dogs etc. This morning they have had to go back on that and where they have gates to the entrances of NT properties they will be locked to prevent access purely because WE and I include all of us in that are too immoral and selfish to maintain social distancing.

And folks say it’s the governments fault. Like feck it is . It’s my fault and your fault and everyone else’s fault all because we know better.

Yeah, everyone should see the Sky reports from Italy. They've been showing them here (or similar ones) daily during prome-time news.

As if Corona is not enough we've been struck with earthquake this morning.

My landlord in Zagreb says her house is fine, but nearby neighbours have multiple damages on houses and apartments.

And the worst is that everyone had to evacuate to outside meadow which is designated place in case of earthquake, so about 400 people were standing close to eachother without masks or any protection with virus about to hit hardest :(

Agree, I went to jog with my girlfriend (it's allowed, maximum of two) for the first time in weeks. We just ran randomly through the streets (almost no traffic never passing less of 5 yards of anyone) it was awesome.

Then later I realized most people who decided to jog were using the city shore and urban parks (the usual choices). Dumb, there's too many in there, and, like Italy, it probably won't take long until we're restricted to exercise within 200 yards of your home of people keep doing that.

India starting to go into complete lockdown from today. Railways and bus services suspended nationwide. Numbers have started to shoot up (even with very limited testing) and their are fears that the situation can get really bad really soon.

Zagreb hit with biggest earthquake in 140 years this morning, and all while nu.bers of infectwd grow there, fecking shit!

https://www.index.hr/mobile/clanak.aspx?category=vijesti&id=2167608

Some of the pictures are terrifying. Women with just born babies holding babies in front of hospitals because they said it could shake few more times, ffs.

@Black Adder hope you and others are OK!
Yeah, I'm fine, just left Zagreb yesterday, but those who've stayed there are in big problem.

Just as you've said, numbers are starting to go up, and then this shit happens, see my post above, that's just 1 example of what people were doing, imagine whole city being together outside for a several hours.

Don't even want to think about worst case scenario :(

Did you feel ti in Sarajevo? I know that Slovenia was hit as well.

Today's numbers look dubious too. We're in deep trouble.

Probably haven't updated all the cases. And there is variation how many tests are done in a day and so on. Have to look at it with 2-3 day intervals. The numbers in germany will still increase for a while. Measures take 10-14 days to have an effect

It’s hardly a surprise. Cummings and his belief in eugenics was known way before this

Don't be so bloody stupid. This virus doesn't target the people that Tories hate. It probably targets their supporters more than it hits whoever Cummings might despise.

UK is finally this week going to realise the true brunt of this pandemic. The mixed messages from the government will come to roost and we will have 500+ people die in the UK this week from Covid . If the government and public manage to get their act together then there is still a possibility to stop the madness that will happen 3-4 weeks from now but for the next 3 weeks we are pretty much screwed now. UK had the chance to learn from Italy but we did nothing and we will get it worse than Italy soon

Feck, it looks awful. No, I am actually not in Sarajevo at the moment, closer to Zagreb actually (Tesanj), but haven't felt anything here.

I hope you guys will get through it!

I don't understand the logic of stopping people from going out for a run. Italy and France have stopped people from doing this.
Me neither. I go for a long walk/hike around 5-6pm every day for about 2hrs. I do this big loop that starts in residential areas, which are dead as expected, continues into the hills and then back down through residential areas. I see a good few people in the hills area, walking dogs, jogging or simply walking but at an extremely safe social distance. We don't come within 5-10ft of each other, at the very least. People need to be able to keep active and get fresh air as well as break the monotony of being in the same room from 8am-5pm every day.

There is a huge difference between this and 10-20 people sitting in a pub getting drunk together. It's also impossible to police - unless the government is planning on situating 2-3 police officers up in the fecking mountains of a tiny South Wales mining town from 8am-10pm at night or something, people will continue to exercise in that area.

In France you can still exercise as long as you go individually and stay within 1 to 2 km of your home and stay out for up to 20 minutes. The point is to keep people apart not to imprison them. As long as people respect this then the restrictions may not get more severe but that depends on the responsibility of individuals.

UK slow to react, an enforced lockdown akin to China from today would be to late, people forget, that wouldn't make a difference for potentially 2 weeks and the UK does not have the capability or capacity to pull something like that off.

Supplies are running low now, some places are overwhelmed *now*.

Had plenty of time to react, buck stops with the government.

Government has been reactive this entire time.
Those still defending the government seem to of forgotten King Boris's 'Take it on the fecking chin' comment
