What's interesting about this article is that the journo is well connected to Birmingham City and he also seems to be suggesting a Sancho to Man Utd move looks a very real possibility.
Perhaps, but the article suggests that we are likely to land Sancho because of how aggressive Dortmund have been when it comes to getting Bellingham.

I struggle to see the link as they both play in different positions don’t they? Bellingham isn’t really a creative outlet as far as I am aware, so I don’t see much in it myself.

Yeah, even Columbo couldn't make the connection between Sancho and Bellingham.

Bellingham is a creative player IMO.

Moxley could easily be getting info from within the Bellingham camp regarding details of a future move. So it wouldn't surprise me if he has heard some concrete news about Sancho moving to United.

We have policies in place for the under 21 players don't we? The max is £20k a week until they are a certain age or play regularly for the first team. I'd glad we're not throwing £50k at a 16 year old and then wondering why everything went to shit by the time he's 19.

Wouldn't imagine that £20k cap still stands, Chong is on £30k and is 19.

Well he is meant to be a very strong source when it comes to the midlands clubs so watch this space I say.

Can't see much transfer activity taking place this summer tbh.
Yeah totally agree with you, also makes me think we won't sign Sancho right now. Mind you after reading James Robson's transfer Q&A he thinks we will get our man so who knows.

Tbh, I will take Cavani over Ighalo given the cost for Ighalo will be probably more.

Never thought I’d be saying this, but I think I’d rather have Ighalo than Cavani next season.

I can totally understand that point of view, however there is no way we should match that rumoured £400k a week offer from Shanghai Shenhua.

Ighalo will certainly take a significant pay cut should he stay here.

Hardly makes any sense does it - if we're seriously after Bellingham and we've extended Matic, even with Pogba off, our midfield options are pretty good (assuming we get Jude). Surely the club's name is just being used to prompt Madrid into action.

CavanI would not be ok sitting on the bench. It will be stopping Rashford, Martial and Greenwood’s progress. Ighalo is what’s best for long term back up. But I do see why he’d be good to get. He would bring some extra goals no doubt.

Or he will replace lingard / Pereira ? Last week it was Lemar, now its him. Definitely we are looking for a similar player

Yeah to me it feels like we are looking to get rid of lingard and Pereira so when looking at midfield options in the squad people should probably start discounting them.

I thought that was Bruno, and maybe Pogba if he stays or Grealish/Maddison if he goes. Lemar hardly, we have two left-wing strikers, so it's doubtful we'd buy an attacking midfielder operating from the left, I would suspect.

Matic, Fred, McTominay + potentially Bellingham
#10 Bruno, Mata + potentially Grealish/Maddison

Pogba if he stays could fit in either. Outside of Bellingham+Grealish/Maddison, I don't see a desperate need for more midfielders. Especially if we're looking to spunk most of our money on Sancho.

Part of me wonders if its instead of grealish. Maddison rumours seem to have completely died as well.

Have we actually been linked with him before? That's encouraging though.

We have been scouting him for years apparently. Most scouting folk (statman Dave etc) reckon hes almost ready for the Prem as hes been much better when being pressed. Only seen Brescia once this year so have no idea personally.

Interesting that there are suddenly noises about midfielders today. Wasn't Raiola reported to be meeting Woodward about Pogba yesterday?

Yeah, could be. I just think Grealish to United seems way more "normal" than Van de Beek. And they're obviously very different type of players. I can't see Grealish stay another season at Villa and has he been strongly linked with anyone else? On Maddison, you're right. Seems to have faded a bit, as speculation. I think they're worth very similar money, but Leicester would probably hold out for a lot more for him than Villa for Grealish.

I just don't think Van de Beek is a very likely situation. If we're thinking central midfielders we've got two really good ones in Fred and McTominay, we're pretty obviously doing all we can to convince Bellingham. Bruno and Pogba can both play there, Matic is staying on. Unless the opportunity arose to sign an outstanding play maker who operates in front of the defense, it just isn't a priority fix.

True. I would prefer grealish anyway. Just think he has the right mentality and is clearly talented. You can see how much better he is than the rest of the villa squad.
