Either way, I made my point about it.Alba, perhaps. There's absolutely no way David Alaba was/is a better LB than Marcelo.

No way Alba is better than Marcelo. They're both average defensively and great going forward, but Marcelo is better (and more gifted technically) in that aspect. And Marcelo's general contribution to his team i greater imo.Alba, perhaps. There's absolutely no way David Alaba was/is a better LB than Marcelo.
Alba is definitely better than Marcelo defensively, there's a bigger gap when it comes to their defending than their attacking imo. He's been bad by his standards for the past year or so but in his best years he'd do the whole flank by himself with no problem. No way Alba is better than Marcelo. Alba has played for a team who always dominates possession and get the ball back high up the pitch. Not even close, Marcelo is the best left back since Roberto Carlos.Alba & Alaba.
Marcelo and Roberto Carlos are quite close for people who saw both play. But, from my experience, people who saw Cafu play say that Cafu's football was never that great regardless of how huge and important he was and that, in technical and offensive qualities, Dani Alves is far, far, far, far, far ahead of Cafu.Who is considered to be better out of Marcelo and Carlos? and Alves and Cafu?
I think there was a debate after the 2018 CL final and many considered Marcelo to have overtaken Carlos. Obviously the timing of the debate may have been a big factor. In saying that, nostalgia tends to favour the older players when in reality, many of the modern stars have been better players.
Behave dude. you havent watched him play, so why say this? Cafu was originally a winger in santana's sao paulo. he was much more physical than alves and would affect the game in different waysMarcelo and Roberto Carlos are quite close for people who saw both play. Always confuses me when people make out Marcelo to be a complete defensive liability. Madrid played with Cristiano and Marcelo on that left flank for years, and it wasn't that often you saw them get torn apart down that side and it's well known Cristiano did no defensive work.Alba is definitely better than Marcelo defensively, there's a bigger gap when it comes to their defending than their attacking imo. That's why Coentrão played ahead of Marcelo for a long time before injuries got to him. Madrid were pretty bad defensively most of the time, they conceded loads of goals and Marcelo was a big part of that.Always confuses me when people make out Marcelo to be a complete defensive liability. Whilst true their style of play has a big impact on the amount of goals Barcelona concede. They dominated possession to such a level that the other team rarely got an opportunity to attack. That's why Coentrão played ahead of Marcelo for a long time before injuries got to him. Since Pep went to Barca in 2008 Madrid have never gone a season with less goals conceded than Barca.
Phillip Lahm does not like this.Alves is the best right back in his generation
