Part-exchange deals. For example: Pogba

I’d imagine that there is more desire from other clubs to trade players for Pogba than from United. The players that are being touted aren’t really the profile that the current regime appear to be targeting Pjanic for his age and Costa is the wrong combination of injuries and age too.

I do think trade deals make much more sense for clubs to attempt due to the financial hardships they may face but they are notoriously difficult to agree and I can’t see us trading arguably our biggest financial asset for someone else’s dregs.

Unless we are getting a world class CB, quality up and coming midfielder or winger I don’t see why we should even consider negotiating a swap deal.

Player swaps are something to avoid

without any data or proper information the high profile ones have failed and you are getting a player who isn't exactly motivated to be at United - I'd only take a cash only deal for Pogba possibly with the exception of getting a player we have chased

Dybala for example is a player we turned down last year as Ole didn't see the desire on his part

The Pogba swap thing that never comes up but would make sense when you actually watch them is Pogba going to Barcelona. He's got athleticism and height (which they desperately need in both boxes) and could plug into a Rakitic or Vidal sort of role quite well if he was desperate to impress and you have to think he would be if he moved there.

Griezmann, Dembele, Arthur, Umtiti and Firpo would all be interesting considering the holes in our squad.

Wouldn't both Barca and United be better with a straight Griezmann for Pogba swap?

Rashford-Martial-Griezmann
---------------Bruno------------------
-------Fred----------McTominay

and we'd have to buy a holding midfielder who can pass, like Partey or Fabian Ruiz. Griezmann would be the backup 10 for Bruno so no need to spend a whack on Grealish if CB, LWB or RW is preferred.

Barca would have:

Dembele-Suarez-Messi
-----------------Pogba-------
--------De Jong-------------
----------Busquets---------

and it's easy enough to find a right-footed player to start at LW if they don't trust Dembele, could also just bring back Coutinho and buy the Suarez replacement now and have him play the next year or two at LW, Messi probably still best with a speedy right-footed LW type to get on the end of crosses, I presume that's why they went hard for Richarlison.

De Ligt and Bentancur for a swap deal would be the only option for me. If only Chellini was young, until the last 2/3years one of the most under rated defenders I can remember.

For a totally crazy swap after reading press recently. We have a player that has a dream to play for Santos and there is a Santos player that has a dream to play for us.

Perreira for Yefferson Soteldo. I remember seeing him at one of the youth world cups probably 4 years or so ago now. To be fair there was another player for Venezuela looked fantastic too that was actually at Watford never heard of since.

Can only judge Soteldo from the tournament several years ago and youtube clips from his time at Santos. One of the smallest players I have ever seen but outrageously talented, was probably the player of the tournament

People joke about Gaitán, Sneijder and Garay etc. but Douglas Costa is low key a worse rumour. We were first linked with him as far back as 2009 and have constantly been linked with him since. Very boring.

Why does every swap deal you hear about for one of our players seem like somebody's picking our pocket.

These swaps rarely work out. If they want Pogba just pay the money ...cheap cnuts.

Exactly. Let’s not help the penny pinching leaches, they want him, then they pay.

Sanchez and Mkhitaryan is probably the swap that went through in our history, they almost never happen.

So did De Ligt
Just because a player prefers to go to another club, doesn't mean that they can't play for the team they didn't go to originally. In De Ligt's case, that would be all the top clubs in Europe except Juve.

Solteldo makes Messi look positively huge. I saw his quotes about coming to United on reddit yesterday but I didn’t want to start a thread on it as I’m sure many players really want to play here. He looks like a junior footballer skinning seniors in the clips. He literally looks like a child running around to my eyes. If Gomes can’t get a game here I doubt this lad could get in. He looks talented though. Maybe he’d be a good punt for a team like Newcastle who are probably going to try and develop a team. I don’t see why he wouldn’t sign for them if they wanted him.

Well I only saw him in the youth world cup a good couple of years ago, never seen him playing club football but he hugely impressed me then (If you search his name on here I actually did start a thread on him then haha).

He is tiny yes, but then so was Juninho for example. I would love to see him playing him Europe purely on what I saw then as he really was exceptional at that age, ironically head and shoulders above the rest

Did you watch the video? I think Juninho was bigger too. He’s fast though and I’m sure he’s stronger than he looks to have made it in professional football in the first place. So so tiny. I’d love to see him snapped up by one of the clubs who play in Europe who’d play him. It would be interesting to see how he does!

The media love a swap story, but how often do they ever happen?

I'd take Pjanic and about £40/50m and then go and sign Sancho and Bellingham.

I actually think Pjanic would compliment Bruno more than Pogba would as he's much better playing from deep and far more disciplined. Pogbas best 4 months for United came from playing further up the pitch. We have Bruno for that role now.

Matic / Fred / Mctomminay plus Pogba and Bruno has got disaster written all over it. Pogba just isnt disciplined enough for that deep role unless he's got Kante and Matuidi to bail him out. He's an attacking player. Always has been.

I did watch it after reading your last post yes and still looks a great player. I think his nickname was little apple or something similar if I remember rightly. He is tiny but the balance and turn of pace and body swerve is amazing, such an entertaining player.
Of course when I saw him he was playing against youths and Brazilian league doesnt seem the best defensively or tempo wise, so who knows how he would do with physical demands of premiership for example.
I guess there is a reason and maybe it is his size why no clubs have taken a gamble on him, he looks to have world class potential still to me. You are right though, looks like a toddler almost running past players :)

The problem with these deals are the players involved, theyre players you could go out and buy anyway.
Involve Dybala or Varane buy not Ramsey and Bale.

It's clear Juventus won't have the cash we want, so they'll try and offer us players to get their summerly top target. They'll start offering their deadwoods and eventually might offer us one of their better players, but none of them are of our interest. There has been shift in transfer strategy and our targets are quite specific. I doubt there are players from Juventus that are on our transfer list.
I'm sure that if we didn't have the money for Sancho, would've tried to offer them Lingard, Sanchez and a youngster on loan - and people would've laughed at us like we are laughing at Juventus. They're desperate for him and Pogba himself might be thinking this is his chance to win CL and also add a few more league titles.
If I was in Pogba's shoes I would've demanded a transfer out of United last summer. However, if I was in his shoes now, I wouldn't want to go to Juventus. There's something getting built here at United and we are 2-3 big transfers away from seriously competing on all fronts.

Amazing how these deals always include players they want rid of because they're not that good anymore. Tempting

The players mentioned are a non starter for me. As for any others, they would have to be both very good and have a great willingness to play for us. So it's money or we keep him, no point in getting rejects from other clubs or Di Maria type players that are coming for the pay check.

The main problem for the next transfer window is that he has been injured for a long time, and due to this break we have not been able to see his recovery.
It is a risk in any circumstance and more now, with the uncertainty surrounding the competitions.
I would pay around 80m euros.
Thinking of players that could be included: Militão, Mariano, Odriozola, Ceballos, James and being imaginative, even Kroos.
I think Jovic would only leave on loan and from what I read Bale still wants to stay

Well then there will be no deal.

80m euros is not enough to even worth considering.

With all due respects to the ways, I wouldnt even take all of them for Pogba given the opportunity.

If Real or any other team cannot come up with the funds, then Pogba should not be sold.

United should put their foot down, no swaps cash only deal with a lump sum paid up front.

Maybe on, ...

Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has revealed that he has been spending his spare time in lockdown improving his English, amid speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United.
The Uruguayan also revealed that used to watch footage of Premier League legends Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard as he looked to develop his game.
“I used the time by taking a few lessons to improve my English, watching some box-sets," he said. "I admired Lampard and Gerrard when I was a kid, while I always liked Busquets too. I watched a lot of their games and that helped me to learn quite a lot.
“I don’t mind which role I play in midfield, it doesn’t make any difference. Coach Maurizio Sarri has always shown a lot of faith in me and I tried to repay him, but I can improve a lot more.”

22 years old. Central defensive midfield. 6 assists in Serie A this season. I would take him plus cash for Pogba. Spend the cash on Grealish. 2-for-1. I can see Bentancur as a box-to-box as well. Maybe sell Matic too. Then it's 2-for-2.

No way Juve have 2 good midfielders Pjanic and Ramsey when he is bothered to stay fit. The rest wouldn't be starters for us.

Not that I see these exchange deals happening, but ones I would think of players plus cash either way that could suit us:

Perreira for Sotaldo (Santos)
Rojo for Thiago ALmeda (Velez Sarsfield)
Chong and Garner year loans loans for Bellingham (Birmingham)
Pogba for Bentancour (Juve)
Pogba for Valverde (Real Madrid)
DeGea for Valverde (Real Madrid)
Smalling for Barella (Inter Milan)
Smalling for Zaniola (Roma)
Dalot for NDOmbele (Spurs)
Gomes and DeGea for Ousamane Dembele (Barca)
Jones and Lingard for Grealish (Villa if not relegated)
Henderson and Mjebri loans plus Sanchez for Camavinga (Rennes)

What if Juve offered Ronaldo for Pogba and Martial?
I’d take Ronaldo plus cash for Pogba

Ronaldo would be great at United, experience of being a winner and experience of keeping himself in top shape. He’d be a great role model for Rashford, greenwood and Sancho

I'd take him (plus cash) personally, he's a good technical player with enough physicality to impose himself in the league. I think him and Valverde will be powerhouses for their nationals in years to come. I still don't see how Grealish fits into the set up with the addition of another midfielder however. Unless he plays on the right Grealish, Bruno and Mctominnay behind looks like an unbalanced mix.

Juventus are supposedly offering Miralem Pjanic and Douglas Costa for Pogba. On paper it looks good but ... Costa has been crocked for the last 2 seasons. Juve haven't been able to get even 10 starts/season from him. If he can't survive the Italian league what chance has he playing in the most physical league in the world? Pjanic has better fitness but do we really need another #8? We have Fred, McTominay, and Hannibal Mejbri coming through.

What would you do when a player wants to leave but no one has the money to buy him? I'd look at the positions we're weak in and I'd pick from Juventus' entire squad - including players they have out on loan and their youth. I think #7, #9, #6, #10, #3, #4 are more urgent positional needs, in that order. Rather than replace like for like (Pjanic for Pogba) plus an addition to our home for convalescing players, I'd get good, young, fit, fast players to play the positions we need.
No its not good. Pjanic has been in poor form this season and he is 30, whereas Douglas Costa, he is not bad, but has been injured alot, and getting him means we probably won't go for Sancho, who is better and younger.

Jones and Lingard to Villa for Grealish, good experience to help villa stay up or win promotion again, they are about that level.

Pogba to Juve for Ronaldo.

Deligt / Dybala / Pjanic didnt want to come to UTD so there is no point in bringing in them.

Looks like if he handled properly Rabiot+40M could be the best deal
