John Terry was banned for 4 matches by the FA for racially abusing Anton Ferdinand.

They also banned a 14 year old youth player for 5 matches for telling a referee his name was santa claus.

Identity theft is not a joke Jim!

Millions of people suffer ever year!

Football had been a joke when it comes to dealing with racism, not just the FA

Thanks you cnut, very illuminating ;)
Edit: That wink was meant to convey that I was joking, but it just makes me look butthurt.

Definitely. We seem to think we're better than Serie A, but we really don't deal with it well at all.

Didn't Souness try to deny that he was conned / tricked there, despite actually playing Dia for 53 minutes in a Premier League game? I wish they would ask him about that on Sky.

I know there have been plenty of bonkers moments in the Premier League era, but surely that should have made the recent BBC top 10 list? It sounds far more bonkers to me than the Arsenal players swarming Van Nistelrooy after his penalty miss in 2003, the Keane and Vieira bust-up in the tunnel in 2005 etc.

Yeah I was asking for it haha, and agreed with the second point. Not the FA but I remember an incident at some tournament where Bendtner was fined more for showing some branded boxers, than a clear racist action.

Louis van Gaal once starred in a popular 90s show called Beavis and Butthead, playing the character Butthead.
Surely every body knows this! :D

Kevin Keegan's first name is Joseph.

Aguero has scored against Liverpool in every league game at the Etihad.

He’s never scored in a league game at Anfield.

Rio Ferdinand never made an England Euros squad.

His last tournament for England was the 2006 WC. You could argue he had never played in a tournament for England when he was at his peak.

Mario Ballotelli is the only italian with a premier league winners medal

Cudicini & Macheda, Taibi didnt make enough appearances to earn one
That is weird. Meanwhile tiny Montenegro has two players who've won it.

They asked him about it last week. He said they got a call from an agent about a striker who was George Weah's cousin so they invited him down for a trial.

He said they knew he was nowhere near the level required within the first 5 mins of training, but then said they were down to the bare bones so he was needed to be an extra player in training, and then come the weekend they needed to make up the numbers on the bench. Le Tissier then gets injured and Ali Dia comes on. In other words, he got conned probably, he was quite defensive.

Never understood why you wouldn't just put a youth player on the bench if he was that bad, not sure what kind of message that sends out to the hopeful youth.

Between 1959 and 2019, Real Madrid won a total of 10 European Cups (1959, 1960, 1965, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018)

Only in 2017 did they win La Liga in the same season.

On the 9 other occasions, they did not win the league.

This is a good one. If only his brother hadn’t been racially abused by the captain, he might’ve gone to euro 2012.

Yeah some unbelievable nonsense about how they knew he was rubbish but were down to the bare bones.
Absolute chuff.

That is crazy. I had completely forgotten that injury ruled him out of the 2010 World Cup as well. I think he was our best player bar none at the 2002 World Cup, and was at worst one of our top 2 players along with Hargreaves at the 2006 World Cup. However Sol Campbell made the 2002 all-star team and he didn't, while Terry made the 2006 all-star team and he didn't. Don't get me wrong I think that Campbell had a very good tournament in 2002 and that Terry had a very good tournament in 2006, but that Ferdinand had even better respective tournaments than them both.

Yeah surely he could have put a 16 or 17 year old kid from the youth team on the bench if he was down to the bare bones, instead of a guy that he supposedly knew wasn't good enough immediately. He was definitely conned even though he tries to deny it.

Also didn't several other Premier League bosses, Harry Redknapp at West Ham being one of them, receive the exact same call from the same agent, but immediately realised that it was a wind up or trick and said that they weren't interested.

In 9 seasons at Chelsea, Didier Drogba only scored more than 20 goals in just two seasons. In comparison, Diego Costa did it twice in 3 seasons, Harry Kane has done it continuously in past 5 seasons and Aguero in 8 out of 9 seasons.

Struggling to think of any other. Even Evra and Vidic stayed for less. Another weird thing because I seem to remember them staying for much longer than 8 years.
Maybe Pogba, if you include his time as an academy player
Ferguson moved players on when it was time, ruthlessly! Only recently have players started hanging around like a bad smell.

Looking back, they really backed the wrong horse in that one didn't they.... I mean, how on earth did Terry then continue to play for England and Ferdinand not?

I always thought that was Capello's decision.
