They even aim to allow amateur matches as of May 30th (at least in NRW), it really puts all the hysterics and outrage about Bundesliga starting two weeks before that into perspective. Don't get me wrong I think enforcing strict hygiene guidelines is a good thing and in some aspects they could even be doing more, but it seems like everywhere else caution is being thrown out the window. Delving into politics - Laschet in particular seems incredibly reckless to me, save for the city states his state is by far the most densely populated, the Ruhr Area, Cologne and Düsseldorf (adding up to around 7 million people) are all connected by one regional train line that's usually absolutely bursting with commuters every morning and afternoon. I don't understand how he can be at the forefront of loosening restrictions, sitting on that kind of tinder box.
Well, I can think of one reason why he might be doing that.

That aside, I'm onboard with most of the loosenings. It was just no longer possible to justify keeping restaurants and beer gardens shut for example. What does worry me however, is the speed at which we seem to abandon social distancing in certain areas. It doesn't make much sense to me to allow demonstrations of 10,000 people under the banner of freedom of assembly. In light of that in particular, not allowing 22 people to play football with all the hygienic protocols in place would not be proportionate anymore, you are absolutely right.

I just don't see why anyone would oppose a few people playing football on an open field, while entertaining so many people whole doing so.

Finances aside (an argument you can barely make these day without being accused of not caring about human lives), right now we seem to only talk about human lives in numbers while completely ignoring quality of life. The quality of lives of billions of people, I should add. Just being able to watch football again would make my long weeks a lot more bearable and that goes for so incredibly many people around the world.

I'm all for the Bundesliga reopening and totally looking forward to watching. Activated a Bundesliga subscription yesterday!

The speed worries me, too, as you just see the result of the loosenings 2 to 3 weeks after you have done them.

And it worries me where people get their informations and opinions... And the lack of patience that people show.

Yea and people here are starting to get a bit crazy. We make fun of Americans protesting but on Saturday 2000 people protesting in Marienplatz, that after around 10000 in Stuttgart.

What I don't get is what they're protesting about, the quarantine restrictions are already being loosened as it is. They want it to be quicker?!

BTW, that video is so cringeworthy :D

It's all a clusterfeck of stupidity. You have hippies standing shoulder to shoulder with neo nazis.

Those two are among the public faces of the movement, an R&B singer and a cookbook author and of course the AFD scum and Bild are trying to exploit this as well, because it's easy to promise people that it's all an overreaction, when no one will hold you accountable for the consequences.

A bit of a strange situation in the 2nd division. Karlsruher SC - who produced players such as Oliver Kahn, Mehmet Scholl, Jens Nowotny, Dennis Aogo or more recently Sead Kolasinac, Lars Stindl, Vinceno Griefo and Hakan Calhanoglu - are threatened with insolvency; a group called "Bündnis KSC" (Alliance KSC) has pledged to help with six million Euros. However that help was conditioned on the resignation (by last sunday) of KSC's current club president, who has been chairman of the board since 1997 and president since 2010. They are now in a situation where both the supervisory board of the football division and the board of the club itself have asked their president to step down; who thus far says refuses to relinquish his democratically elected post for money of which the club's members know neither who owns it nor where it comes from.

Have the group put forth any more demands other than the resignation of the president in terms of share ownership?

The article doesn't mention further demands. Club presidents (or CEOs) are half politicians, it's not uncommon for them to become the center of criticism.

Anyone know if German football will be shown on DAZN in Canada when it starts up?

Would be good to watch some football again.

BERLIN (AP) — Hertha Berlin has appointed former Germany goalkeeper Jens Lehmann to take Jürgen Klinsmann’s place on the Bundesliga club’s supervisory board.

Jesus.. Hertha's commitment to being a joke is impressive.
He li-Jens for Flipper? Swap the biggest jerk in German football for the guy in second place? Gotta give it to them they act with consistency :D
Are there helicopters that can do Starnberger See-Berlin with one tank?

Any idea if the 3pm blackout will apply to the Bundesliga games as usual? Hoping the Dortmund game on Saturday will be televised on BT.

There are a lot of clubs in Germany that are worthy of becoming a secondary team to follow, depending on what one is looking for. But I wouldn't count Schalke among them.

I could talk about years of mismanagement, turning atrocious backwards football into a club identity, selling their soul to Gazprom or how they refuse to give their season ticket holders their money back for the cancelled games this season, but a look at their long time chairman (who keeps getting re-elected like clockwork) kind of says it all:

Interesting how they will handle players with contracts that run out at the end of June.
Since everyone is in the same boat and the transfer window is going to be delayed they will probably sign 1-2 month contracts with certain players.

What if they already have a new club? What wages do they get? Old ones or new ones? What if the player gets injured? Could get interesting but luckily it should only concern the two teams in the final.

Right, I forgot that contracts run until June 30th anyway. The thing is that all sides will want to make it work. The player and the old club want to win the final and the new club gets someone else to pay part of the player's off season wages and will not want to upset his new signing and look very greedy by haggling over pocket change.

Perisic, Coutinho, Odriozola - running out loans for Bayern
Özcan, Stanilewicz - Bayer Leverkusen
Fernandez, de Guzman, Hasebe, Russ, Cetin, Finger - Eintracht Frankfurt
11 players for Saarbrücken

The running out contracts or loan ends of the DFB Cup semifinalists

Do not see difficulties for Bayern and Bayer.

Bremen pissed about DFL attempting to force through an agreement on ending the season on current standings including relegation and champion in case of a break up. Have to agree with them, they didn't talk about the option for weeks and now tried to push it through as an emergency backup plan. I think DFL panicked this week with the Dresden situation, realizing that their concept quickly falls apart if multiple teams get quarantined as there's simply no way to reschedule everything within a reasonable timescale. They're basically hoping that next to no one gets infected and/or that local health authorities are okay with single isolation if that's the case. Otherwise you'd pretty quickly have a domino effect of rescheduling games all over.
So they put up a proposal three days before the re-start not having consulted the clubs beforehand, obviously it got rejected and they moved the debate to next week. Still, I don't see how they'd agree on a solution for the worst-case scenario as affected clubs will simply reject.

For all the talk about how throughout the concept is, the fairness factor remains a big issue; has there been any decision when Dresden will continue? If their players are quarantined for two weeks no way it'd be fair for them to have a matchday straight one week later, right? No training for two weeks (there's only so much home cardio you can do) and then a match 7 days later?

What's the situation on Perisic and Coutinho regarding their buy option right now? No way they're buying Coutinho after recent developments I guess?

Only commenting on Bremen being pissed....they are stuck in the relegation battle, firmly placed 2nd to bottom at the moment, so of course they're going to complain.

While the timing of the emergency backup plan probably wasn't the most ideal thing for all the Bundesliga clubs, not everybody is going to be in agreement with it, especially when you're in one of the two automatic relegation spots. They still have a game in hand, but even if they win that, they are 1 point behind the relegation playoff spot.

Coutinho - Very small chance - especially considering his wage and transfer sum
Perisic - Big chance that he stays. But Bayern wants to pay less for him. Could be an extension of his loan for another year, too.

Great prospect. Is in training with the first squad since some time. Favre, which i critisize for doing to less for young players, says only good words about him (which is not so often, that he speaks about some player) and took him with the first squad to training grounds and so on and testet him out. That should mean something.

In the end it is like with all our good prospect in the last years: If the player is in such state: getting good words in public about himself from the coach or Zorc, getting more and more playtime, its very possible that at least he will end as a professionell player in some league. If its enough to proof value in a team like BVB, one of the best in europe, is another question. I just want to mention (as only one example) Passlack, winner of the golden medal of DFB youth players, who was in the beginning more than good, but it turned out that for BVB its too less.
Zorc always said, if a player coming from BVB youth academy is capable of playing professional football in a good league, the task is complete. If its more and the player is good enough to help the BVB with its high standard its even better.

So you have to wait whats about Raschl. First impressions are great. Especially cause of good young players for the the position he is playing are rare, or the other way around: playing his position with a combination of different skills is always welcome in modern football.

True. Hertha are continueing with their approach to be the new clowns of the league.
I would rather have HSV in the league than Hertha. There, I said it. And now I feel dirty. Amazing how Hertha went from „no one cares about that boring club“ to „can they please shut up and vanish“.

One question regarding the remaining matches is how equatable these matches would be to normal scenario matches.

The BCD aspect is plain to see in itself, but then additionally do you think matches will be as intensive and physical as pre-corona? The players are aware of the risks of contracting the virus from close contact but eventhough they should technically be safe due to the players being tested beforehand, do you think it will play on their minds and they'll have a bit of doubt during the match?

So true
But in the end, they wanted some change of their "image" ,and leaving the status as the boring-nothing-club where not even their own city is interested in, and they succeeded. All in a shocking short time. An effort you have to acknowledge.
But HSV, please no. They had their time, and its over. Give me St. Pauli every matchday over HSV. Or other clubs, there are so many sympathic, well working clubs, i dont need a HSV.

Oh feck off Lehmann. And why am I not surprised the idiot is on the Hertha board?

But yeah I get it they can't come out and say the truth which would be. "Our clubs can't financially surivie another month without football money, so we have to play and if it risks the long term health of our players, well that's a risk I'm willing to take."

Clubs (Dortmund/Watzke in particular I guess) have been fairly upfront about the financial pressure to play out the remaining matches.

Looking at Klinsmann and Lehmann it seems like Hertha are working their way through the list of (former) RTL pundits. So I guess we can expect Freund or Weidenfeller (the latter would be especially glorious) to take over, when Lehmann is history in a couple of months.
I have no idea how Windhorst could/can sell this to his investors.

Why is this anyway? Seems really odd, capital city club, historic ground. Quite an old club too.
