You wouldn't pay £15m for him? :houllier:

Even as an impact player off the bench he would be easily worth that.
Traore is miles better than dan James in my opinion. He regularly beats fullbacks on the outside and puts dangerous crosses in, James doesn’t. In today’s market for a league proven right winger, I think 50-60m is about right. Obviously the less we pay the better but if he could be got for 50m with some add ons based on stats I would be happy for us to get him. Pepe for Arsenal cost 70m wasn’t it?
Crazy, genuinely not sure if serious...

Wolves are basically my 2nd team after Utd and Traore is a proper player mate.

Daniel James wouldn't be starting in this current Wolves side, and I say that as someone who like James.

Traore will be a genuine superstar within a few seasons.
there is higher chance for him to join Man City or Liverpool than Man Utd, regardless of how much money you are willing to pay.
I might have overegged the pudding a little bit, but he’s not £60m worth of player. Certainly not from what I’ve seen of him. And I’ve seen him a lot recently. Just because Arsenal massively overpaid for Pepe doesn’t make Traoré a world beater. But yes, he is probably better than James.

Don't rate him really. First couple of games against Wolves this season he was giving me a heart attack every 5 mins, wasn't in the slightest bit worried at any point a few days back. He's very good at getting into dangerous positions but terrible at taking advantage of them. Reminds me of Sissoko when he was playing on the wing - he could look great in brief glimpses, he wasn't though.
He literally ran the whole pitch and setup the best chance of the match............

Some of you guys are funny it's like you didn't watch the game.

Maguire is 80m

Pogba is 100m or whatever

Wan-Bissaka is 50m

Luke Shaw is 30m

By that rationale, Adama is worth at least 60m - I'd rather him than any of them barring Pogba - and even then, Pogba would have to be on his game.

He had a lot of chances to do something in all of our games this season, he rarely did though. Creating a good chance after fluffing half a dozen isn't going to make me fear him.

I would put him in a similar bracket to Wilfred Zaha, he creates moments of panic, occasionally looks like an absolute world beater, but ultimately just lacks that certain something (consistency) for the top clubs to fork out what Palace/Wolves would want for them.

Traore is a phenomenal ball carrier. At a level that’s both rare, and expensive to purchase.

His decision making is terrible at times though.

People focus on end product too much. If he could simply pick up the ball, break through lines and play a simple pass, he’d be worth a fortune. He doesn’t need boat loads of assists or goals to be worth a packet.
He's already quite good in that regard, whole reason he's finally went from curiosity to serious player this season
Isn't that where playing with top players comes into play. If he was playing for City he would have all the time in the world. He would probably get the ball on the run in miles of space 5-10 times a game. Thats easily enough to cause serious damage.
First he'd need to be coached to run without the ball :D

He reminds me a lot of douglas costa. Maybe he'll never reach best player on a top team level, but his talents are rare and if used right within the right context could be quite devastating

I just hate this hype for right footed right wingers when nearly all our rivals has a nice balanced symmetry of a right footed attacker on the left and a left footed attacker on the right.

I find the symmetry, cohesion, attacking angles of any attack a very underrated aspect of any formation - and as good as traore is for me, I don't see him anymore than a RWB for me.

I think he should be the type of signing we should be looking at. A high impact squad / rotation player. With the right coach, he could become a solid bargain.

Man City looked alright when they had Sane in the left and Sterling on the right... Sterling was more dangerous on that side if I remember correctly, Sane definitely was. If you have devasting pace like Sane and Traore I guess it lends yourself to being more dangerous on your foot side, as you can make the most of the space down the flank, therefore dragging defenders out and creating more space centrally for team-mates. E.g. all of Sane's many many assists for Sterling in the previous two seasons.

I guess the thing with Sane/Sterling is that 1 is still left-footed and the other right-footed. With Traore you'd have 2 right-footed wingers.

I don't think it matters that much, but the advantage and unpredictability of a left-footed attacker isn't to be underestimated either. Lots of great attacking trios or partnerships in recent times have included 1 left-footed player. Think Messi at Barca, Salah and Sturridge at Liverpool, Bale at Real, Griezmann at Atletico, Robben at Bayern.

I could have sworn there was another thread about him?

Anyway, his technique is barely Championship level if we're honest. He's almost totally reliant on his ridiculous pace and strength. It's working to great effect right now but it never takes long for PL defenders to figure out one dimensional players like that. By this time next year they will know to give him a few yards, close him before he gets the ball under control, or whatever else works best, and he'll be quickly into obscurity. Wolves should cash in this summer whilst his profile is sky high.
I don’t get the love in for Traore either. This has turned into a Traore v James thread but without the name. If Traore played for us and James for them it would be a James love in.

You are too narrow-minded with your wide players.

Traore is not a wing back.

From watching him every week, I can safely say that Adama is well on his way to becoming a phenomenal player.

Some of you lot are worse at identifying talent than Ed Woodward!

That's fair.

Also nearly since Chelsea last won the CL nearly every club has had a left footed right winger, Robben, Bale, Salah, Messi, Di Maria etc.

I just want a forward who can cut in and cause havoc saw we have 2 Rashford's on 2 sides of the pitch.

Played as a wb earlier in the season and did really well. He's more natural there rather than at forward because he just does not attack without the ball

I don’t think anyone would notice James similar to how we didn’t at Swansea. James is very lucky to be here thanks to Giggsy. I feel the next manager will send him out on loan.

 What did you expect. Some are still deciding if Ole is the right man. Adama would be a shrewd piece of business. Valencia like.

Strange how polarising a player Traore is on here. It seems to me some people have already made up their mind on what player they want him to be and will force him into that box irrespective of what he actually does over the course of a season.

This thing, about him being easily nulified or taken out of a game, though, is pretty bizarre when it's clear it takes a massive amount of opponent resources (multiple men) and concentration to contain him. It's the play, players and tactics around him that need to be looked at to best take advantage of that and because Wolves are set up to be so defensive primarily, and opportunistic, secondly, there is often a disconnect when it comes to supporting Traore and taking advantage of the ruptures and disruption he causes by simply being what he is.

You can't blame Traore for the fact he can beat multiple men and then be stuck because his team-mates are miles away and trying to catch up to the play, by which time Traore is then being closed back down and having his options reduced - he either has to go on hero solo runs towards goal, Bale at Spurs style, and then be accused of greediness and simple-mindedness in equal measure, or, he has to wait a bit and then try a much harder pass or cross to one of the very few bodies who are, by then, up in support. That is on his manager to fix, not Traore. He is used as an outlet ball, but not supported as one, at all. The tactic teams employ to reduce Traore's threat is tracking the supporting runners and narrowing his options to those above, which in turn makes it look like he is not thinking as a top player should. Under the conditions and remit of this Wolves side, I'd like to see which players in his exact role would look considerably better than Traore does.

Ironically, and on the other hand, as we go up the levels and look at what a CL club wants out of a RW or RWF, Traore needs to show more individual quality in terms of ceasing moments for himself as his productivity and justification for being a starter in such a team would then be in question. It's a catch 22 - players who make the leap from sides like Wolves to those at the higher level tend to do so by taking all the burden on themselves and standing out, not by being particularly great team players - Traore going on a number of hero runs that are talked about post-game, will get more plaudits than Traore trying to play others in after they finally catch up to him on a counter; Traore taking his own maverick runs, and not waiting for team-mates to catch up, but instead taking on shots for himself, will be judged solely on the threat of those shots, not on the decision made to take them on. He converts, or looks like he can, and he's potentially a great RWF; he looks woeful and is ballooning shots, he is nothing more than a mindless pace merchant...

Coming through La Masia, it would be interesting to see what he can do in short passing chains and combination football. It would also be interesting to see how he thinks and how he looks to exploit situations in that kind of close quarter style. Does he make runs into new pockets of space? Does he read the play and exploit it? Off the ball running at Wolves is not the same, especially within a strict set up where your role is narrow and defined - Traore cannot be proactive off the ball in a reactive system that relies on him being where he is supposed to be as the outlet ball at all times. If he wasn't where he was supposed to be, he would not be the outlet ball, and on a counter-counter, he would be badly out of position and then called headless, and what have you.

For a true guage of this guy's football intelligence, he needs to be in a side where he is not utterly relied upon to 'gain yards' and allow the whole team to breathe. All of it is a catch 22 for Traore. I find, as I said in the first paragraph, he is a player people don't consider all sides of because of their own preconceived notions of what he is and will amount to. Additionally, for Traore to be worth the money Wolves would quote, him being so vital to how they play factored in, his breakout season will not be with an uptake in assists, but goals, and goal threat.

Yeah it’s a poor showing.
I think next week I’ll write up a tutorial on how to watch footballers critically. You’re all very welcome, I just like to share my expertise and help others become a better level of football fans

Such a shame he plays on the right and therefore we'll never get to see him line up against AWB. If that's not the definition of unstoppable force vs immoveable object I don't know what is.

Press rumours have him priced at £70m. More than twice his worth IMHO. Forget this.
I think he'd be a great fit for United on the right wing. He's a class player and would really fill a hole in the United 11.
He's been destined for a while to play for a big club and this season he finally put it together.

Traore destroyed Shaw 1st Leg in the league
That means Shaw isn't really good enough for PL winning side and certainly not ECL winning quality. United need to upgrade left back. If Traore were that good he'd destroy every left-back in the league We'd see it in his stats. His stats say 4 goals and 7 assists in 2073 minutes of PL football. Not a patch on Sancho. You can have Traore or Sancho. Not both.

Nah disagree, I don’t really rate Traore that highly but he is absolutely capable of destroying any fullback in world football with his pace and power. His end product has always been his issue but make no mistake, he’s a very difficult man to stop. He caused Liverpool and City all kinds of problems this season so Shaw shouldn’t be judged too harshly on fully nullifying him.

I don't even think he's just all about speed. He has great close control, can play under pressure and in tight situations, and I've seen him play beautiful passes. Even with the outside of his foot, too.

So who's top 5 in the league
According to Opta ratings it is:

1. Andrew Robertson, Liverpool
2. Lucas Digne, Everton
3. César Azpilicueta, Chelsea, (occaisional)
4. Diego Rico, Bournemouth
5. Ben Chilwell, Leicester
6. Enda Stevens, Sheffield United

I gave a top 6 because Azpilicueta is only an occaisional LB.

United currently line up with a player who hasn't scored a premiership goal for a year,
Stats mean very little if the player is performing what the team require.
Adama is a very good player, someone who'd excel at United, reminds me alot of Valencia before his injury, just with greater technical ability.
As a comparison to Sancho, they are completely different players, both would be a welcome additions to United squad, but we are not getting Sancho,
