That's a huge sum for Icardi, and people were saying we won't see big deals anymore.
I don’t know if this is a good example of that. This is PSG remember, and Icardi, personal issues or not, is one of the very best strikers in the world.

50 million euros isn’t a massive sum when seen under that lens.

Did I imagine that or he/his wife said something to piss off PSG and they terminated the loan!

I don’t know. It’s a good price for a very good striker. He is also already familiar with the team so that reduces the risk. He just turned 27 and PSG has all the money in the world.
Seems like a good deal for PSG.

His buy clause was 70M, the fact Inter agreed to 50M its a clear example of what we’re going to see in this window.

I think its a really decent price tbh.

If Liverpool get Werner then gosh what an attack they will have!

It’s already class at the moment but he will add extra quality.

It’s more than a decent price. The guy scores goals for fun. It’s a steal more like! Bournemouth would likely want that for Joshua flaming King!

But then they will have to leave out Bobby Firmino, whose role is said to be crucial to how they play.

Either that, or play Firmino as a 10 and have one less midfielder relentlessly pressing the ball.

Losing a midfielder to accommodate Werner wouldn’t be an issue. Sure it may take a little while for it to work but he willl fire in the goals for then no question.

Really? I think their whole system hinges on having those 3 runners pressing in the middle of the park.

TAA and Robertson are so effective because they have that commitment from the midfield.

I can’t see Mane and Salah getting as many goals and getting as far forward in a system that accommodates both Firmino and Werner. They both basically play ahead of Firmino as it is.

It will be interesting to see if it happens.

There is enough games to rotate the four of them and allow more rest without changing the system.

Neymar to Barcelona? Messi hasn’t many more cracks at CL.... Nor Suarez or Busquets or the rest of the old guard they’re slowly replacing with almost entirely inferior players.

Perhaps Klopp has been reading the Firmino thread, and had an epiphany that he needs someone else in the middle to replace him.

Basically 20-30% off, I think that's what was realistically expected. At least for rich clubs.

It will be hard to beat this for saddest tweet of the window :(
Tell me about it. Although it's taboo to have a second team, I have always loved AC Milan and to see them where they are is very sad. I just hope people aren't saying that about us in a few years.

Yeah, I’m with you there. They were always my second team from Gullit, Baresi and Van Basten to Pirlo, Kaka, Nesta. So many great teams full of individuals that I loved.

Nothing against Jeff Hendrick, but it’s just a marker of how far they have fallen and a reminder that they aren’t coming back anytime soon.

Some awesome players and great teams. The kit is also a classic.

Yeah, Hendrick is a tidy player but obviously not the level of those Milan greats. Have to say, I used to dream of playing for Milan as a kid, so if I were Hendrick I would jump at the chance.

Will come down to money as well, and football has changed, where a PL team can probably offer more wages than Milan I'm guessing. But from a prestige point of view, I would move to Milan in a heartbeat, as it would be so much better when looking back on your career.

Hendrick would actually be a decent player in Serie A. But that strikes me as a transfer where he’ll be back at a relegation club in the PL in 6 months.

For all their good press, Bayern have absolutely no respect for other teams.
Remember when they were running commentary on our affairs under LVG?

Bayern have it so comfortable in the Bundesliga. The fact they can openly say who they want without anyone batting a eye-lid says it all.

It definitely is strange coming from Kahn. I wonder if it was taken out of context or if something was lost in translation. But Sané plus Havertz would obviously be wonderful for them.
