Would love to have him here .. but I am not sure why he would come ..
We are nowhere to win anything.. he already is famous and he could have a host of clubs like Real, Barca who can pay him what we do ..

This, just can't see a club more capable of winning things not coming in for him. He would really have to believe in the project to come here.

That being said, I don't think we are as far away as people think. Looking at our strongest 11, we are 3 players away from being a team people would fear. We just lack quality depth.

Oh come on man... we are Manchester feckin United.

Chin up. No shame playing here and we are on the right path now.

A manager who plays youth
He has friends here
We will pay top money (as much as any club)
We are improving
He’s guaranteed to start here on the right
A city he is very familiar with
A chance to prove City were wrong

He’s young and could still get another move if things didn’t work out.

Not really. Barca have serious financial problems and Madrid are waiting on Mbappe for a year whilst still having two potential stars in Vinicius/Rodrygo plus Hazard/Bale are on their books. Even Chelsea who I thought were after him seem to have their focus elsewhere. Plus he is just 20 think he`s at that age where he can chance with a project before he hits his prime. All we need is CL football and it`s an almost guaranteed signing IMO.

If he was to leave next year interest would be high but as of now there isn`t any other club that will go "hard" for him. Madrid waiting on Mbappe whilst having two potential stars in Rodrygo/Vinicius plus Hazard/Bale, Barca have financial problems, PSG already added Icardi to Neymar/Mbappe both of whom are staying for another season, Liverpool can barely afford Werner, Chelsea have focus in other positions and City reportedly have no interest in bringing him back. This summer is our best chance of getting him.

Yup and all clubs are going to be keeping a tight reign on the purse strings. We have to make it happen this summer imo.

I mean we're the only club that can actually get him right now tbh. What I don't understand is why he would rather come to us than stay in Dortmund for a little while till the biggest clubs come for him. I guess he's homesick and wants to return to England and if that's the case then even if big clubs come for him it's between us and Chelsea because I don't see him going back to Manchester City and Liverpool can't afford him especially with Salah and Mane who can still perform for 3 years of more

Maybe he wants to come back to England.

Manutd and they style we play is completely suited to him, the players around him would compliment him.

No one is guaranteed to win anything in the PL. Barca / Real is the easy way out, saying that how many league titles have Real won in the last 10 years?

Spot on mate!

If we want him we should go all in for him this summer. Next summer half a dozen of clubs will be in for him and compete with them to get him will be quite difficult. It's now or never.

So you agree with that complete nutter but also reckon we are only three players away and lack quality depth.

Signing Sancho brings us down to two squad players short. What’s the big problem?

Looking like Chelsea are signing Timo Werner so you’d imagine that definitely rules them out of the race for Jadon Sancho. Especially when they already have plenty of options on the wings in the 1st place like Ziyech, Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi, Pedro & Willian

I think this transfer is nailed on and I hope United negotiate the price down which is a real possibility too.

This one will drag on and on. I don't see it being an easy one.
With the amount of money that’s going to potentially be involved in this deal, of course it’s going to drag on. Will potentially be done closer to the end of the window than the beginning, I’d imagine.

Well it won’t be happening before the season ends and the window opens at least! It seems like some sort of ‘saga’ right now, but the season hasn’t even ended.

I don't really care about his price tag. I have no idea how much money we have to spend, market prices or anything like that. I care about bringing in the right players. The valuation of those players is up to the people involved in negotiating the transfers.

I'm all for us buying young talents, but not instead of world class players. The talents should be bought in addition to world class players. Also, the talents we buy should all be in the "world class" category, as Rodrygo and Vinicius in Real Madrid. Luckily, Sancho is both a world class talent and a proven player already.

When we have a squad good enough to challenge for trophies in every tournament, we should focus on maintaining that with young, potentially world class players, with the odd "ready" player bought every now and then. Until then, we need at least two (possibly three) first XI players, who all should be in the world class category.
We have De Gea, Pogba, and Fernandes... 3 world class players. Can’t wait to see what they can do together. Last season, we barely saw rashford and Fernandes play due to injury and NEVER saw pogba, Fernandes, rashford together... we have a really solid squad already. Once a RW is bought, we have a super solid squad.

We didn't see Fernandes last season because he didn't play for us last season.

Oh, I agree. Don’t get me wrong. I might have seemed a bit harsh in that post. I’m more excited and optimistic than I’ve been in years, and I believe we’re building the squad to be competitive both tomorrow and in 5 years. Young core, some great British talent, academy players, likeable guys. The works.

But we do have some holes. RW is obvious. You can argue we could do better at LB, and I think we need another quality CB. We could do better at CM as well, but I actually like both Fred and McTomminay and want to see them fight for the last available spot in the midfield (if Pogba and Fernandes occupy the other two spots).

Can't forget those masks man.

I am excited now
I hope we pull all the stops out for this one as it just makes so much sense doesn't it. Being a United fan seeing a quality number 7 at Old Trafford is really important. I've been lucky enough to see Cantona and Ronaldo but we are well over due a flying tricky wide player and he certainly fits the profile we are seeking.

Think the circumstances suit our pursuit extensively. I wrote this off last year when our results under Ole were shambolic. I still think we as fans need to be skeptical regarding our performances post pandemic because it doesn't take much to end up on a continual losing run as we witnessed earlier in the season. We are still not playing well enough as a team.

The aspect of it dragging on is daunting and the reason is you never know with how incompetent the glazers are and have been in the last 5 years regarding transfers. I don't see this idea that we are not an attractive prospect, we showed interest before he moved to Dortmund and he's seemingly close with some of our squad members. That's not even mentioning the size of the club and how much more he'd scale from a marketing / endorsement perspective.

The hallowed number 7 shirt is waiting for you Jadon.

You won’t find a better challenge than to follow in the footsteps of the previous United no 7’s. :keano:

C’mon lad, you know it makes sense.

I'm convinced that's why it's taking so long, he doesn't feck about Woody, the penny pinching bastard.

If you want him to succeed, keep him away from that cursed number! Been more than a decade since a player did well for you with 7 on his back.

Valencia, Owen, Depay, Di Maria, Sanchez.
Jadon is the one, like King Arthur and the sword, only he can carry the shirt...

Someone has to break the curse sooner or later, surely ?

... is because the season hasn’t concluded yet and the window isn’t open. It isn’t ‘taking so long’.

Give it to Rashford. He deserves it.

Local bloke, fans love him, good dude.

It'll actually mean something to him. Sancho grew up with Owen as your 7.
Not sure of the relevance of who Sancho grew up with as United's number 7?

It's a historic number in football and at United.

I see your point, but considering what he has already done at this stage of his carrier I would not worry too much.

The player he actually reminds me of at similar age is Eden Hazard. But I do think Eden Hazard, due to his build, was maybe an even bigger talent. An while Hazard was one of the best player of the past decade in the PL, I actually feel he could have made even more from his talent. I think we have gotten very used to seeing players like Mane, Salah, Sterling, Sane and Rashford, left striker kind of wingers, and therefor thing of these as the blueprint for a winger. Sancho, in my opinion, will be more of a playmaker type. A player who drifts inside infront of the defense and creates, but who also can and will take players on and move into the box.

I think that will suit us. Rashford is verand Greenwood will be. We need someone who can find them.
