It looks like we’re talking to multiple midfield targets at the same time which is classis Woodward. I’d imagine that Tolisso is not near the top of the list.

Yeah, I’m sure he’s option C or D at best. Think he’ll end up in Italy.

Classic Woodward? Isn't it just standard practice to have multiple options?

absolutely loved Tolisso at Lyon, but no thank you. You know why Bayern is willing to sell ... and after already buying damaged goods from them twice, I'd be VERY cautious.

I guess but am not sure if other clubs go as far down the line, putting deals in place with multiple targets as Woodward is said to do.

That Boufasi guy is a good source though isn't he? If he is reporting we are in talks with his entourage I'd be more inclined to believe that than any VdB source.

No idea how good a player this guy is or whether he's going to stay fit.

After how Hargreaves and Bastian turned out I ain`t sure going after players Bayern are willingly selling is a good idea.

How crap has he been at Bayern?
Was very impressive at Lyon, if we can negotiate an even lower fee, I'd say he's worth a shot.

Too risky, i would rather invest in a largely injury free player. Once massive injuries kick in, the risk is too high that the player will end up being more on the treatment table than on the pitch. We don't need to go for him at this point, we aren't that desperate.

This is just United being thrown into another exit story.

Surely this lad is our 3rd or 4th choice transfer option in this position. I know we like to negotiate with all targets at the same time so we can effectively weight up our options

Hargreaves was easily money well spent. Absolute beast in the 08 season

I think if we are able to retain Pogba, we wouldn’t need to sign more CMs.
If he was like a superstar, we could consider him but no point adding a crocked squad option. Our CM options are surprisingly differentiated and deep.

Fans may not like it but this puts us in a stronger position to negotiate with the selling clubs as they are less certain on who our primary targets are

I'm so happy I'm not the only one who thinks this.

In my opinion he was vital to our CL winning season. I dont understand why people dont see how good he was that one season.

Am I forgetting someone? I can only think of Hargreaves and Schweinsteiger we've signed from Bayern?

Bayern also weren’t ‘happy to sell’ him to us either.
Yes. I think generally we should treat this with caution but Tolisso is a very good player from what I understand. @Blackwidow has given a post suggesting its more that Bayern are overloaded with options after Kimmich entered the fray in midfield. If this is the case and Tolisso can stay fit, I think it's a wise deal for 35m.

Heck even if he's only fit half the time, so long as its the right times, it's still a good deal. We have McTominay, Fred, Bruno, Pogba and Matic as it is. For 35m I'd be quite excited.

Imo this guy would do great in the Premier League. Like truly great I mean. He has all the tools.

The way he effortlessly sprays the ball in midfield only Pogba is capable of executing it at United

How is he defensively? If these reports are true it doesn't appear Ole is looking for a pure DM to set up his midfield.

Meh, hasn't looked good at Bayern, they only offoad duds, much prefer van Der Beek but none of these guys fit with Pogba in Ole's preferred system.

Surely we're not trying to buy all these rumoured players, but just as a comment on Tolisso from watching a lot of him...very competent footballer. Doesn't look flashy or world class but makes a very good and effective deep lying play maker. Pair him with 2 other very good midfielders and you have a top class midfield to match most.

Yup he had it all. Was absolutely immense. Would have been one of the most complete midfielders in the world if he had stayed fit.

He’s a good player tbh, only question I’d maybe have is the profile of midfielder he is. I’m in the group that would prefer a defensive specialist in midfield first, although I can also see the need to improve on Pereira and Lingard. I just think from a first XI perspective, even a Declan Rice is more what we need.

Average player, though for 35 mE it would not be a bad option as a squad player (similar to trying to sign Can in January). Would not improve the first XI though.

Declan rice is never the answer

Given that you guys have Pogba and Fernandes it seems a little surprising you are going after likes of Tolisso and Van de Beek. I would think someone like Partey is much more of a necessity to improve your midfield given he'd allow someone like Pogba to be somewhat 'relieved' of offensive duties.

Most people will prefer a DM but I think Ole is set on Bruno with a pivot of Pogba and Fred/Mctominay in midfield. So we're looking for back ups

I think being without Pogba most of the season has highlighted to Ole that Lingard and Pereira are not good enough for this club, and I think he wants them gone. I’m not sure the purpose of Mata tbh, and still confused why he was given a 3 year deal last year. If we get an additional cover that he seems to be after for the 8/10 role - not sure if Mata is anything more than a highly paid mascot to keep spirits up around the grounds.
