It's nice to see someone in his position so unaffected by the spotlight. Crazy that it should take someone like Rashford to highlight these issues though.

One of the easy things to forget in this is that he never looks comfortable in front of a camera talking about his life. He does it out of a sense of duty and wish to help, not any desire for attention or plaudits. Very, very proud of him.

What is written in the OP is all very good. I was a proud Rashford supporter up until the news came that he will help to feed disadvantaged children, a left-wing totalitarian movement that labels and seperates people in typical left wing identity politics fashion.

It is a crazy world atm. Left wing has become racist and fascist while calling themselves anti-fascist and anti-racist. I am so dissapointed with Marcus Rashford.
Credit to stevej.

Would like to see the club as a whole getting behind Rashford on this.

Paying Marcus his wages and giving him a platform to do social good w/o interruption all while allowing him to live out his dream of playing first team football for the club he loves?
That's it? Ridiculous. Woodward out!!!

On a serious note, any news on the club wanting to help him out in his work?

So nothing they wouldn't be doing anyway then, whether he was doing this campaigning or not.

If he doesn't score against spurs who else thinks someone will moan in the match day thread about how he's doing too much charity work and needs to get back to focusing on playing football.
If he doesn't score AND we don't win, I know I definitely will! Seriously though, mighty proud of him. Can't wait to see him back on the pitch...

A genuine question, what is the club doing in this?
I didn't think the club needs to do anything bar getting behind him. A lot of players have charitable foundations as do football clubs in general. I recall Drogba raising millions for projects in the Ivory Coast but not sure Chelsea FC got involved.

The bigger question is: WTF are the govt doing in this? That dick Matt Hancock stated that footballers should be doing more while he and his govt ministers haven't taken a pay cut themselves?

Red Card for Casemiro!

You joke, but I am willing to bet this is going to happen the next time he misses a through ball or shot on goal.

The decision to name my six-week-old after Marcus has been well justified so far.

There's going to be very few people in the entire country who will come out of this whole crisis with their reputation more greatly enhanced than Rashford. Think back to where we were when he was on a dry streak in Autumn 2019 and the abuse he was getting on here. Now he's proving that he has what it takes to be a legend for United on the pitch and an absolute gamechanger off it.

So proud of Rashford here. Incredible usage of his platform, shining example to the rest of the country.

It is incredible to see Marcus become such a great spokesman for these issues. Incredibly proud of him as a person who sees past the bullshit and uses his position for the greater good and speaks for those who dont have a voice . Well done champ . Well done .

Top guy. And no offence, and I may be judging him incorrectly, but he doesn't seem like the most intelligent guy around so if someone like him can realise this and try to do something it would be nice to see more players doing so, publically. They have a lot of power, even just to breakdown stigma, and would be nice to see them use it.

Anyway, if you haven't, RT his Tweet about this to your MP.

Didn't have Marcus Rashford down as a Times columnist so soon:

He didn't go to Eton, but he seems pretty bright to me. He's another young footballer who has spent his formative years focussed on sport, rather than on public speaking. How many 22-year-olds do you know who have a similar background to him, who didn't go to university or sixth form, but would have the courage he does to challenge the national government on issues of opportunity and basic support? I remember when people used to scoff at Rooney when he was young, but he's now a quite erudite speaker about the game.

I'd say so. You obviously don't know him personally and are only going off from TV interviews where anybody can struggle.

Rashford doesn't come across thick at all to me, by his own admission he said he's very good at maths and would have aimed to work in a bank if he didn't make it at football.

For somebody of 22 to be taking something like this on and speaking to the country and politicians i'd say he's pretty bright.

What a bizarre observation to make. Be careful throwing comments like that about with everything going on at the moment.

Maybe not highly educated, but yeah, just listen to an interview with him. He seems quick enough.

Marcus Rashford a genuine national treasure and should be protected at all costs.
