What should we do for the right wing if we don't get Sancho in the upcoming window?

You make no effort to counter anything I have said and then make a patronising “good luck to you” comment? - That was actually quoting your initial response, I could have added the "have to be deluded" part as well, but thanks for inadvertently admitting your initial response was patronising.
That is why I didnt bother to counter everything you said. At the end of the day until/unless we sign him, we wont see whether he goes into our first eleven or not. But as I said, if we are going to spend the money touted on Grealish, and he seems to be a main target, it certainly wouldnt be to sit on the bench. You can throw all your so called expert opinions and disproving of anything you want at it, until it happens we wont know so I am not going to go into the type of arguments done 1000 times on here about the contributions of some of our other players. If we do sign him in the summer, please feel free to come back to this half way through the season and talk about him sitting on the bench and being a bad investment, I will gladly hold my hands up.....but I dont think it will happen as I think he offers huge qualities to us and dont need to justify that opinion to you whatsoever, lets wait and see.
I apologise if that did offend you.

I think more realistically is you don’t have a good comeback to the post. I wish people would admit more when this happens.

The whole we won’t know until it happens argument makes any debate pointless if you feel he could start back it up. I’m very open to being proven wrong as he’s a talented player.

First of all we don’t know the fee, second of all absolutely nobody on this forum has put forward a starting XI with Grealish in it with our squad as stands. Nobody puts him ahead of Bruno or Rashford so the only option is the bench for him as things stand.

The only opinion I have put forward is a big concern about his attitude everything else I say is rooted in facts about his position and gametime in those positions unless impartial databases have an anti Grealish agenda?

He will of course start some games I’ve never said otherwise but it will be due to injury or the sale of other players but as things stand he’s looking at being rotation

I have no concerns about his quality so I don’t think he’s a bad quality investment but major concerns about how he would deal with not being first choice all the time. The devil makes work for idle hands or feet in this case.

If you engage in a debate the expectation is that you can or are prepared to back up your points. I don’t discuss topics I’m not comfortable explaining to others in more detail and ideally with evidence. So we’re you hoping to just say your opinion and nobody question it?
These are excellent points. I'd be excited about the idea of Grealish coming in but first up Sancho should be *the* signing, and secondly I think Grealish would then be the cover for left wing (Rashford/ Martial injury putting Rashford up front) right wing (Sancho? Please?) and CAM (Bruno), and he doesn't have that history of playing on the right, as you say. Not to say he couldn't do it of course but given how we're crying out for someone who truly knows how to play on the right, that would be something the technical team will have to focus on, to decide whether he could do it. If he was providing cover across those three positions he could be confident of joining knowing he'd get plenty of game time though.
Thank you.
I'd love to go for Traore if we don't get Sancho but I just have this feeling Wolves will dig their heels in and not sell. I was amazed they kept hold of all their players last season; I get the sense their strong relationship with Jorge Mendez gives them a lot more power than they'd have otherwise.
He’d be a completely different player then Sancho and not ideal but if you see his name on a team sheet as a LB you know you’re in for a very tough afternoon. I don’t think he’ll be sold for what it’s worth.
Can't believe people would want to get Traore. That is such an '08 Liverpool signing.

He is so overrated. Can't stand the hype he's got.
I think he offers a very unique threat that I’ve seen all PL sides really struggle to deal with. He’s so strong as well as being quick and an excellent dribbler that he causes problems, attracts defenders and therefore creates space. His issue is his passing isn’t anywhere near Sancho and so it’s a bit like unleashing a bull. It’ll cause damage but good luck directing it consistently to your target

He does however offer something different to James and Greenwood.

I agree he offers something different, but different doesn't mean very good. There isn't much good creating space if you can't then pass to another player.

Sorry, I understand his attributes but I'll never get on board with him being anything other than bang average with pace and strength.

I think he’s very good at what he does but to be considered a world class winger he’d have to work on his passing absolutely.

I think he’s overall an average winger but with unique outstanding qualities.

So his fee will be no less than £50m

He has 4 goals 7 assists this season

1 goal and 1 assist last in the PL.

Considering fans want Ole to coach the team attacking patterns, I cannot understand either why people want him? No one knows what he will do on the ball.

We need to stay away from these signings.

Surely Adama Traore would be a big upgrade on our current RW options and push us closer to a title challenge.

Champions League is a whole different matter but I don’t see how Sancho would be the missing piece for that either.
Sancho at a age 20 have already had an impact for Dortmund in CL this year. In 648 mins played this season he has 4 goals and 2 assists. And have in 30 matches in Bundesliga 17 goals and 17 assists.

Im pretty sure he would lift our team much more than Adama Traore in the PL and CL who have in 28 games in the Premier league 4 goals and 7 assists. And in 8 Europa league matches have 2 goals.

You probably haven’t seen my other posts with regards to Sancho so I’ll give you the short hand:
  • Sancho is absolutely head and shoulders above any other RW signing we could make IMO
  • I believe Sancho would get us much closer to a PL title challenge and have maintained that throughout discussions
  • I do not believe Sancho alone would get us close to CL title I don’t see that as a criticism I just think we need a better squad too
  • This thread is to discuss alternative options so I see Traore as a good alternate. I do not want him I want Sancho. I’ve never expressed any preference for Traore as Sancho is clearly the better player. But gun to my head I think he’d offer something better than currently offered.
  • Our current RW options are all non natural RWs
  • Traore is a natural RW that offers something very different to our current options
  • I think he would be a threat to most PL teams
  • I think he would be frustrating to watch as his passing is poor

I think he’s closer to a winger than a fullback. He plays as a wide right midfielder in a 3-4-3. He has great work rate and he’s an assist king from the right. I think having him on the right crossing and Rashford on the left offers good balance.
Fair enough, he is very athletic and fvery much the modern full back in terms of being probably better going forward than actually defending. Even if we dont get Sancho, there are a handful of players I would probably rather sign for the right wing personally

Traore is becoming too overrated sometime especially in this thread.

It baffled me how people are ignoring James and believe Traore is an upgrade that can push us into title challenger. Don't get me wrong about Traore, he has assets similar to Valencia and we were winning PL trophies twice with him.

However, just like James, Traore is a direct player who doesn't rely on technique but his physical attribute. Sure Traore is stronger in strength but the point is that both are wingers with similar style which is direct winger with some limited assets. He doesn't offer something different to our current option especially Daniel James in term of the style of play and the end product also not much different.

I don’t think he’s been overrated at all. To say he’s better than our current options is true. Nobody is saying wow what a worldie.

We’ve highlighted his strengths and weaknesses. Nobody is ignoring Daniel James. He’s had a positive first season and has been defended on the forums by myself and others for his debut season.

Traore is an upgrade over our current RW options as he is:

A) An actual RW (not CAM/LW/ST playing out of position)
B) By far one of the best dribblers in the league and would be better than any RW option we have at carrying the ball forward

So for me yeah he would improve our first XI which in turn gets us closer to a title. Doesn’t mean we will win it but he would be a threat to most PL teams who don’t know how to deal with his unique talents and the doubling up he’d draw creates space to take advantage of. We’d just need to teach him to pass haha!

Traore is a better dribbler than Valencia who was a push and run merchant (I love Valencia but let’s call a spade a spade) they aren’t similar in what they do Traore can actually go between players too.

He is absolutely not like Daniel James he’s a far superior dribbler Dan James needs space in front of him to be effective on the ball Traore not as much. The major downside to his game as has been pointed out is his passing game. So I maintain he’d be exciting to watch but equally frustrating too.

Bear in mind the whole point of this thread is to discuss who else we could sign if not Sancho. I just want Sancho I’d be gutted if it’s anyone else but Sancho for RW but some players I’d be disgusted with and others I could see something they’d bring.

More importantly though if we just dismiss everyone else for not being Sancho then it kind of defeats the object and ruins the fun.

I like Sarr too. He’s a decent goal scoring RW and all things considered has done well at a mediocre Watford side. I think he’ll be at a bigger club one day but maybe it’s a year too soon for him?

Traore does need space in front of him to be effective just like James. Anyone with limited skills also do need space. This is why Williams & Shaw were able to stop him this year. Traore doesn't offer much different to what we already have Daniel James, from the style, their weakness, effectiveness for the team & their end product. And this is also where we can agree and disagree.

Don’t have to watch the whole thing as my point is proven in the first minute but the more you watch the more you see. I know I can’t convince you with words just just watch it

Its clear proof he does not just need space to get past people. He is seen several times dribbling with players in front and tight to him or in between players. He’s comfortably a better dribbler than James,

Just watch it and tell me Daniel James could do half of that. I like Daniel James but they are not the same.

If that's what you call clear proof then I have the right thing to say these are also clear proof for my point.

You can believe with whatever you want to believe, but the clips also tell you he does need space to be effective in utilizing his strength & speed to beat his man and players with lack of technique & skills do need it, not something new to understand that.

First video is a shocking pass too slow.

Second video took two players working together to dispossess.

Third video Maguire man handles him and then oh look another player is needed to dispossess him.

4th Clip another two vs one.

So what your clips show is poor passes are easy to intercept. And two players working together can dispossess Traore but not one on their own?

The video I showed you shows all aspects of his game. Sometimes he knocks and runs but more often he’s dribbling from deeper with tight spaces to navigate. You just don’t want to admit it.

I think we both know you won’t admit the clips I gave you show he is more than a knock and run player and that the clips you gave only show if you put two players on him to defend him you can get the ball off him.

Our strategy here simply can't be Sancho or bust. Not that I'm a transfer specialist but we should have identified other options that, while not as good as Sancho, can do a good job on the right.

The context you highlighted is also very clear that signing him at this moment is just not going to be an upgrade to the extent where we will challenging the league.

So I never actually say Traore isn't better than James. I see both players offer similar aspect & the style also doesn't make significant different to improving our final third which reflect to his end product.

Traore has the same number of assists as Mané, Robertson, David Silva and Son.

He has more than James, Grealish and Mo
Salah.

In space, probably. He doesn't strike me as the kind who can help unpick a packed defense. I know he's improved on his final ball but no I don't think he's significantly better than Daniel James.

Then again I've only seen a few Wolves games this season.

Nobody said he alone would make us challenge. Context is important it would push us closer to it because as you are now admitting he’s a better player than James and generally I find better players get you better results.

I love Daniel James probably one of his biggest defenders but he is not the same style of player as Traore who is better.

I definitely think we need some Wolves fans here who have watched him week in week out to point out that while he can knock and run he’s a far better dribbler than just that.

People forget that Valencia was very effective for us... If he could match that level of output then sure, bring him on here.

But yes I'd like to hear from Wolves fans on this too.

Valencia was great at what he did. But what he did was knock and run.

I think every Wolves fan I've spoken to acknowledges Traore is a unique dribbler and does more than knock and run. Season ticket holders at least.

This needs repeating.

Sancho is obviously the first option but we simply must have alternative attackers in mind should it not come off.

RW has been an issue for years, our scouting system is plentiful, we need to be productive in the closed season Sancho or other.

Traore isn't as skilled as Sancho but he would be a massive upgrade. He ran City and Liverpool ragged and was one of the most fouled players in the PL. Unless he regresses he would improve the attack.

Traore is one of the best dribblers in the PL. I thought this was common knowledge.
I thought it was very common knowledge and not even a debate that he was one of the best and not just a knock and run into space merchant but to be fair to the others they possibly haven’t seen much of him live?
