While we're all gushing over Rashford's wonderful acts. What other examples of footballers doing good deeds are there?

I saw a video recently of Igalho handing out supplies in Nigeria.

Some of them might do it for good PR too. Although I am sure there are lots of great human beings out there playing football.
Guys like Foster helping an old man out and stuff like that.

Bellerin is pretty vocal about women rights and various causes.

Defoe was good with young Bradley Lowery, from all accounts did a lot of stuff away from the cameras with that brave wee kid.

Essien has multiple charities and foundations. His brother died whilst searching for water, so he has a foundation predicated on clean water access. In his adolescence, he had malaria, and since that is a sensitive issue to him, he has a foundation predicated towards malaria amongst other diseases which people could be exposed too. He regularly organises charity matches with proceedings going to causes from those with disability, education, domestic violence, children in poverty. He was an ambassador for the Womens World Cup

All of that is brilliant. And Rashford seems like a fantastic guy. I read somewhere that he learned sign language so that he could judge a poetry competition at a deaf school. You’d hope that many more of these multi millionaires use some their influence and money to help out all the time.

Salah is extremely influential. I've heard atheists were converting to Islam because they were moved by his humanitarianism efforts

Eto'o has a foundation for children and funded a pediatric hospital.

Footballers do all sorts of good. They always have. Yet there is a spite directed their way all because they had the temerity to be talented. You get the odd idiot, as you do anywhere. This is only heightened due to the vast amounts of money that is thrown their way, often at a very young age. Some of them are bound to do some silly things, which is always magnified because of their public persona. It is, perhaps, forgotten that the majority of footballers come from working class backgrounds. There are foreign players that have witnessed all sorts of atrocities in their childhood. Football is one of modern society’s drivers of social mobility; it’s only right that these lads want to give something back. I’m sure lots of them do it anonymously, too.

United Foundation does a lot of work for our players but they all seem to happily commit to it.

Would add Juan Mata and his foundation that others have joined in with.

Heard Roy Keane does a lot for kids hospitals and charity causes in Ireland but doesn’t like it published.

Didn’t Jack Wiltshire spent a lot of time with the little boy dying of cancer.

James McClean always is donating to charity and being a good guy.

Can’t post in the thread about Rashford in the Utd forum so I’ll just put it here. What an absolute legend. Whenever anyone high profile speaks from the perspective of their own personal experience and in such a non provocative, unifying way it’s very powerful. Utd are lucky to have such a fantastic player but more importantly an amazing human being. Very moved hearing his own story and his mum’s struggles. Along with Sterling he is a brilliant role model for kids growing up in difficult circumstances.

Kenny Dalglish

Dalglish and his wife Marina set up the "Marina Dalglish Appeal" in Liverpool back in 2005, with the charity raising over £10 million to improve cancer care on Merseyside.

And was knighted for his work in charity.

 I have no idea how he thought it might be a good idea to post that knowing the first game was against City. He should have made it 1000 trees for every goal.

After Didier Drogba helped the Ivory Coast team qualify for the 2006 World Cup, he challenged President Gbagbo to end the civil war. He made a desperate plea to the combatants, asking them to lay down their arms, a plea which was answered with a ceasefire after five years of civil war

I happen to like Graham Potter, but wanted Arsenal to win today purely because of Bellerin's gesture. :(
