I don't like the way Bruno takes penalties

the hop is to move the keeper but honestly it’s amazing how something so simple seems to work and how keepers keep falling for it. He’s just waiting for them to move then picks his spot.

I don’t think I’d like to do that just before striking a ball but, I would always just watch the keeper and roll it in the opposite corner whenever taking penalties.
I once took a penalty vs Schmeical at the AC YULE car park when I was like 11 with Cantona and Bruce looking on.

Talk about a preasure penalty.

Some of the goalkeepers don't like the way he takes them either. If it works don't change it.

He clearly knows what he's doing, he's not just showboating. Also isn't in refreshing to see a United player with a bit of swagger and arrogance about him in the correct way, he's dancing the ball into the back of the net unlike that clown Lingard dancing around it in training.

Because it's rarely hit with pace and keepers will get those sooner or later by guessing correctly which way to dive.
you obviously aren't getting it. Keepers can't guess because he is watching where the keeper is going and then placing it the other way. If a keeper holds his ground until it's kicked them he won't be quick enough to get over in time.

just like Eric used to but without the hop. Sent the keeper the wrong way every time. Takes a lot of cool but Eric was the definition of cool.

best pk taker I can recall.

Milner is really good too (as much as I hate complimenting a Liverpool player). Nothing fancy to it. Just low and hard and just inside the post and rarely is saved

The best thing about it is that it proves he has a lot of confidence, which is massive for pens in itself. To do it when you've only just arrived and are still winning fans over takes balls, because imagine the thread if he missed that first one

Christina have you seen his conversion rate?

You might wanna see the maths before you criticize his penalties! The maths are important!

Rumor is Bruno scored and then missed a pen today in friendly against WBA. Nothing special or to worry about. Thought post it here anyway ;)

If he's going to feck it up, he's picked a good time to do it at least!

It works for Bruno. May he not heed internet forums which attempt to discourage the man from doing what works for him.

For me he was MOTM today but i have some criticism of the way he takes penalties.

I watched him taking them for Sporting for some time before he joined us and he was very lucky in Portugal with a number of them and the 'help' of dodgy goalkeepers.
I knew exactly how and where he was going to kick this today and any PL goalkeeper who had seen his penalties before would have had a great chance of saving this one - the good thing is that Foster seems not to have watched him before.

The next penalty we'll get will be crucial for Bruno and, i feel, he should not continue with his hop prior to his kick as it takes the impetus off his penalty kick.
He changed it today. Do you like it now?

Did he miss-kick it slightly yesterday? Looked like the shot had a weird bobble to it... Not that I give two shits mind, it's nice to hushed a reliable penalty taker.

Yes, I liked yesterday's penalty shot.
It wasn't the usual hop but more direct and stronger shot.
Probably because lloris is a very agile keeper, or maybe in their research learned he “waits” for the taker to shoot before moving.

in this situation just thumping it into the net always works ;)

With that hop how much power will the kicker actually be able to generate?

Would I be right in saying Rashford took the ball off him for the second penalty and was going to take it had the decision to award it not been overturned by VAR?

Yeah Rashford was definitely going to step up for it. He wanted it and if a player is that confident to take one then more power to him.

Bruno’s pen style is the most reliable style possible if you perfect it. It isn’t complicated, he waits for the goalkeeper to move before shooting. Every penalty he’s scored for us he’s not only scored but also sent the keeper the wrong way. Based on that record, it is a little concerning that Rashford was going to take a last minute pen to win the game last night instead of him.

If you are diving to the right, and I see that and kick it to the left, how hard to I have to kick it??? It's not about power. It's about seeing which way the keeper is going and then kicking it the other way...

feck that.

Stick with the designated taker at all times, unless someone needs a confident booster in a game that's won or is on a hat-trick
Fannying about with different penalty takers in the start of the season fecked us a bit and we should be done with that by now.

Rashford wasn’t the designated taker against PSG in the last minute but he wanted the penalty.

It would have been Bruno’s second penalty as well, it might have been a good thing to have Rashford taking one, it’s not like his penalty technique is bad, he usually blasts it in the corners.

So if the keeper waits?
Very few do, in fact in adult football there’s always some degree of movement due to the over analysis of penalty technique. They over think it IMO.

The funny thing is that in kids football, the keepers stand still expecting a goal and more often the penalty taker hits it too close,it ends up being straight at them:lol:
