It was okay, but the book was way better.

Can see they've included parts of the 5th book and set everything up nicely.... Well done there. Can't wait (for next session) because as some have already alluded to, next season gon b epic!

Can't get beyond first episode and I love Sci-fi! Maybe I need to get over my attention-deficit and persevere with it?
I gave up after a few episodes the first time, it really takes a while to get going in the first series. I think by episode eight or nine it starts to get really good, it's definitely worth sticking with. Once you get more into the world and lore you get hooked, and the story does pick up a lot.

I watched 3 seasons of it and still don't like it. Boring to me at least. Only show I pushed on to watch because of how loved this show is to see why. Still don't know the reason why.

I love the show but at the same time I agree with people saying it's boring and/or hard to follow. Belters this, Earthers and inners that, who was on what side when somebody did something on Isaue or was it Gehersin.

Finished season two last night. Absolutely fantastic show bar the acting of the main character. I just love the attention to detail and general realism.

What you thought of episode 2.05 (Home)? For me, one of the best episodes in television history, period.
Brilliant episode with stunning visuals. But the same could be said about the whole second season which was superbly written. There is so much complexity and nuances behind the characters and the conflict between the three factions and it is actually not that difficult to imagine the future of our solar system to be something like this. Makes the two latest Star Trek installments look cartoonish at times.

I've finished season three now. Not quite on the same level as the previous Earth/Mars war arc which was epic. The plot is not as gripping and the new characters they introduced didn't really work for me, particularly Anna. And I kind of wish they'd kill off Naomi. She adds nothing to the show and annoys me in most scenes she is in. But don't get me wrong, this is still a fantastic show. Actually it's amazing how good this show is despite the two lead characters (Holden and Naomi) being quite weak. Although it's probably not even correct to call them leads at this point.

I was quite on the fence about the whole series but this episode is worth forcing your way through the first season for. It is probably one of the best episodes of any Tv show I’ve ever watched. It’s an absolute standout for me.

The visuals, the story, the ending, just fantastic.

Watching the episode stoned is probably the moment that elevated this to one of my favourite shows. Now I'm about 5 books in and can't wait for the next season....

I've watched the first 3 seasons 3 times ffs :lol:

I've just finished watching the 4 seasons with this. And while I actually enjoy it and find it watchable, there are a lot of things wrong or weak about it:
- there are in fact rather few really interesting characters, ones you actually care about;
- Shohreh Aghdashloo is an awful actress - her range is limited and she's a pretty boring character once you get beyond her supposed "coolness" or "bad-assness";
- for a show called the Expanse and focusing on how humanity has gone beyond Earth, it all seems very constricted, and it feels like there's only a handful of important people that have any influence on anything; Earth/the UN is the best example of this in the first couple of seasons, it's basically Avasarala and Errinwright who are running the planet, with a patsy general secretary, and however they wish to influence events pretty much works, as they are omnipotent; the UN military is also just at the mercy of their whims;
- there's a lot of actually shit characters (hello Bobbie) and the better ones are sometimes underused;
- the latest seasons was really poor - it stretched a plot that could've held in 2-3 episodes over an entire season, and it might be important in setting up what's coming next, but it was rather crap.

... but it's weirdly likeable and watchable. There are some nice things about it, some fun characters (Miller, Ashford, Amos, Dawes), the universe is kind of well put together, and seasons 2 and 3 were actually very exciting. Hope season 5 picks up things a bit.

They left so much of it out, which is why it feels... a bit empty maybe? So I get what you mean about it feeling stretched out, there are whole subplots and character arcs missing. I'm not happy about it but hey, the books still exist.... Onto series 5 we go, which should raise the stakes massively.

I just got to the end of season 4 last night. I'm about half way through the second book too and without wanting to be a GoT book wanker, the books are much better. It's odd some of the things the shows producers have altered or left out for TV.

I just wish I'd read the books first so I didn't have my mind's eye set for me by the show.

Gave up with this towards the end of the first season. Fairly boring, no interesting characters and the acting is shoddy as feck. Especially the 2 main women, who were just hopelessly bad. Amazes me that anyone kept going.

Yeah. The UN woman was like a silent movie star who hadn't fully adapted to the audio age. Like an Iranian Norma Desmond.

The girl on the ship acted like she'd just landed there straight from the set of Casualty. Just a bad, bad actress.

:lol:

Both very apt descriptions. I can't overstate how much I hate Shohreh Aghdashloo's acting (and voice). She was in a season of 24 a while ago and I'd already thought the same.

But I still actually find the show enjoyable/entertaining.

God yeah, she's shocking and, very possibly, has a long term throat problem that needs sorting. Either that or she smokes 50 Marlboro Red a day.

It had its plus points but I just couldn't get past the those 2 especially. Just found myself getting irritated the minute they showed up!

I said that exact fecking thing about the UN one after the first series in here and everyone thought I was mad! She really is shite.

Watched the first season there and thought it was good, if not nearly as great as I'd heard it was. Excellent production values and a cool world but a bit bland and predictable at times. Plus Thomas Jane's character is the only one I find remotely interesting.

I have heard seasons two and three are much better though so I'll stick with it.

The UN woman on Earth, has she always been such a shit actress?
And to be fair, season's two and three are much better than season one. Season four was crap, though.

The main redeeming factor in S4 was Amos still being a badass. The stuff they added in for Bobbie was bad as she doesn’t need any extra screen time, although watching her beat men up is hot for some reason.

Avasarala is awesome and the actress fits the character perfectly. I don’t know how anyone could think otherwise.

Perfect or perfectly awful. You decide.

Personally I have no clue how anyone watches her and sees anything other than a half cut, fagged out pantomime dame.

I havent read all of this mind, but reading through some of the supposed twitter evidence of him being a bad man, makes me happy I'm married. Asking random girls for their number is apparently not ok now? I got a few cold stares and even the odd shove when going out when I was young, but luckily no Twitter to shame me.

If I missed clear evidence of him assaulting someone, that's obviously very serious, but some of this evidence is not very condemning.

Yeah it's worth going back to twitter and reading more. There are more women who've come out since yesterday.

Cas Anvar is looking like a very bad man who will not be returning for the next season.

Tonnes of receipts on twitter of his hitting on teenage girls and women coming out with stories of abuse.
Aw shit, that is bad to hear.
