No amount of coaching can make lingard a good intelligent player. Wtf was he doing slowing down the counter!
When your "talent" is running away from the ball hoping someone is following you then it's a shock to the system when you are required to play with the ball. He's a casual observer.

I was telling someone ealier today that he should be the first one out the door. He offers nothing, absolutely nothing! His wages can contribute to Pogba's new contract.
We really need two additions in midfield in the summer.
We might not even be in this round without him. So there's that.

Mata and Lingard offer nothing, they should never be starting games for us. I appreciate ole wanting to make some changes and prioritising the league but he got this one wrong. We need some quality on the pitch immediately.

All Mata is good for is retaining possession of the non-threatening kind.
Him and mata should never play together. They’re the same safe zero attacking intent players that just want to pass sideways.

This shows that we need another midfielder. McTominay and Fred are nowhere near good enough for the first team.

Pogba, Fernandes, Matic, New DM. We need a new backup to Pogba and Fernandes also. McTominay and Fred need to be put well back in the selection order.

I think it has also shown that Ighalo was starting to be a bit overrated on here. He is an okay player, but nothing more. Not what people started to make out on here.

Ole needs to be making changes at half time we aren’t doing anything with the current front 3.

Some of you are behaving like you never played football. When you put bunch of bad players in team they will completely ruin playing chemistry.
I'm pretty sure that you just expressed everyones reason to complain but with different words. Our backups are a bunch of bad players.

Poor game so far , our performance is typical of our lackluster performances we usually give after we have played really well the previous game.

I know we have made a lot changes but our squad should be capable of rotation and still keep up to a certain standard.

It looks more lack or urgency than lack of ability.

I disagree. 5 subs are allowed, get the result in the bag and make 5 changes in 60th minute. 8 changes has ruined the flow of our play. There is only 9 games left (prem and fa cup), we shouldn't be rotating this much. Yes 2 or 3 players max, but 8 is really strange. You think anyone cares if lingard needs minutes. He shouldn't even be in the 20 man squad.
9 games yes but we're playing twice a week after a long lay off.

If he kept playing his first team, didn't give these lads minutes and we were hit with a few injuries and had to rely on unfit players for a crucial league game you'd probably complain he was clueless for not rotating enough.

No point in making more disliked than he already is by inflating his wages.

I would have paid good money to get him to leave the club. The overall quality of the training must certainly be affected with him effing it up.
I'm not inflating his wage, I've just never seen his wage slips. I had 150k from an article i read a while back.

In training, even Freddy Adu can look like Messi.

The mindset should be that you put average players (a few) into a good team so that the average player has something to aspire to.
This is pretty much the opposite. One or two good players in an average team. I worry that Fernandes will get worse over time if he's not surrounded by other good players.

This game highlights our squad depth, or rather that we have too many average/below average/past it players. Too many players are past their peak. We've hung on to Lingard, for example, for a season or so too long. The club is not ruthless enough with moving players on when it is time to. Half of that side playing now need replacing.

When? He was a marquee attacking signing. When has he been really good for us?
For years he was a good player for us, he was a really talented attacker, times just caught up with him.
It’s worth remembering he’s been here for what, six years?
He was notably good during the end of Van Gaals first season, his second and then Mourinhos first.
I remember going against Wolfsburg when we were in the champions league and he ran the show.

Harry probably the only one that's not been poor.

Well, our depth is atrocious. Basic footballing essentials are missing.

Extremely flat and no tempo while Norwich defending well. United defending decently well when they had to as well.

Greenwood and Rashford on for Lingard and Mata whenever with Pogba on for Bruno whenever.

OGS messed up the team selection. Too many changes with incomings out of form has resulted in a sedentary performance.

I think he should bring on Pogba and Greenwood at half time and if still no change, Rashford and Martial on 60 mins.

Here's what's gonna happen in the 2nd half:

All that Norwich huffing and puffing with result in one of their key players going down with something, United will score a goal around the 70th min mark and on we go.

Unless some freak accident happens, most likely result.

Awful decisions by Ole to field this line up.

The players have all had months off for feck sake. The season is only running another month. We don't need to rest players this desperately to be playing Mata and Lingard together. Ever.

My biggest concern, this. Although it isn’t that we don’t have depth; we do. The problem is that the discrepancy between our best players and the likes of Lingard is frightening. We need better players to come in for these games.
Exactly and those 4 have only played together once or twice! The drop off in quality is shocking.

The whole caf agrees Lingard is terrible but what really boggles the mind is Mata still has a following here. There are still some people putting him in their desired starting 11s. Mata has been finished for at least 3 years and should be lumped with Lingard and Pereira.

Mata will always be poor in a slow side. He needs players buzzing around him to link up and pick a pass. But he has fecking Lingard and Dalot and only really rubs shoulders with McTominay and Fred as holders.

He can only really link with Bruno and Ighalo, which will set him up with a disadvantage to shine before a ball is kicked. The problem is what many posters were saying before kick off - it's a slow side Ole has fielded today.

He just needs to make one single change to completely alter the way we look. Rashford will peg Norwich back tactically and it will leave many more holes for our players to get into. I'd put him in for Lingard, definately not Mata yet.

That's not what coaching does for the most part. More of than not it takes the decision making out of the players hands.
You don't need a coach or manager to teach or make a player basic footballing decision. What was lingard doing by slowing the counter. He had acre of space and yet he slows down for some weird reason. In fact ole should be more ruthless and just say enough is enough and get rid off the clown

Too many cowards on at the same time, incapable of passing the ball forward. Fernandes has been shit as well. Need to make at least 4 subs at half time.

I hope Ole doesn't take too long to make changes.

Not really bothered about the quality of football, just want a win today.

Ole's getting slaughtered in here for making too many changes, but I think that the kind of selection he put out is the only sensible option. Tuesday will be the third game in six days, and if you're going to feck about with rotation, this match is the only choice.

They haven't played for months, you have to expect some rustiness.
Qtr final in the fa cup against Norwich with no fans after a month of training. Not having that. These are fringe players, they should be right out of the blocks just to justify their existence at this club. Not one Norwich player was worse than lingard or Mata that half. No excuses mate.

Mata and Lingard must be the most uninspiring 'creative' players at the club now.
