We reverted to type today. That performance was very common pre February. I can’t see us getting top 4 if we play like that again even once.

Obertans #1 fan.
I know we’ve won and unbeaten in 13 and rested players today...
But.. it’s obvious a manager like Klopp would never get knocked out of the FA Cup after resting players due to a busy schedule.

I never understand the flip flop by our fans. Yes it was bad but we won. Even the greatest sides in the past and now struggle to break teams but they grind the results and win matches. I am glad the team never gave up and stooped their shoulders down. It's not possible to win every game 3 or 4-0.

How is it flip flopping to point out where things are bad? When they’re good I’ll say too- like against Sheff U.

But today it was so unnecessary to make so many changes where it’s almost cost us. It just ruined the momentum from the last game, we looked disjointed. And it won’t help the next game either as we’ll just go back to the normal team (the ‘rested’ players also still had to come in & play a lot of time with the added 30 mins)

So yeh overall today not a good one for Ole

This B team is going to HAVE to play at some point. Why not at a point where it was suppose to be the lowest kind of opposition. The fact that we got through, even though it was tight, justifies it for me.
We going to have games 3 days apart, 4 days, 3 days, 5 days max. You think we will be able to use our main guys all the time? If this B squad doesn't get enough games under their belts you can say goodbye to top 4, and whatever else we trying to achieve.

So overall, crap performance, but understandable choices for Ole.

Klopp has never had the absolute crap of Mata, Lingard, Dalot and Bailly as his rotation players. You can't make Baked Alaska out of dog shit mate.

He has to go after that. The first half was unacceptably dull. Pep and Klopp win all their Cup matches by at least 5 or 6 goals.

Change 2/3 players- not the whole make up of the team.

We also aren’t going to get top 4/5 without building momentum

Players are able to compartmentalize. They know this is cup squad, verses the momentum of the league games. Even Ole alluded to it in his pre-match interview, that this is in true 1 change from the last cup game and he wanted this team to continue get a chance to not only get match fit, naturally, but also get a game.
But again, this on paper was the best opportunity to get most of our B players some minutes under the belt. If we lost it, sure, light a fire, but we didn't. (even if we came close).

I guess there will always be a difference of opinion. Some would say, rest Bruno, rest Pogba, others say play them. In the end, when we win, I can make peace with what the manager did.

People here must imagine in their heads all our games with fergie were a walk in the park, romanticizing the past as usual

I remember many times in those fergie unbeated runs many many ugly games. We won today, ugly, but we did, with our B team. Onto next game

An interesting piece in F365 this morning about how terrible this season has been for us, if it wasn't for the decent run after Fernandes joined who knows what situation we would be in. We need 19 points from our last 24 available just to beat our worst ever Premier League total which was achieved under Moyes. If we don't match that then surely something has to be done?

Moyes took over a title winning team, Ole‘s team is making progress, not going backwards.

I love how LVG & Jose got the same leeway despite doing much better in the league & winning trophies. Oh wait

We can't build any momentum while we're unbeaten in 14 games. Feck sake Ole, pull it together. :houllier:
As you well know momentum can easily come & go. Norwich being the better team against us isn’t going to help.

Also surely says something when we’re 6th despite being unbeaten in 14. Ole & us simply haven’t been good enough this season

No idea if you're trolling. Are you? Just in case you aren't.

FA Cup 19/20 - Liverpool

05.01.20

Everton 0 - Liverpool 1

26.01.20:

Shrewsbusy 2 - Liverpool 2 | Re-match Liverpool 1 - Shrewsbury 0

3.3.20

Chelsea 2 - Liverpool 0 - Knocked out.

FA Cup 19/20 - Manchester City

4.1.20

Man. City 4 - Port Vale 1

26.01.20

Man. City 4 - Fulham 0

4.3.20

Sheffield Wednesday 0 - Man. City 1

I'll give you that, Man. City do score 4 goals against teams that do not compete in the same leagues as they do.

Jeez can we get over with lvg and jose ffs. They are no longer here. This whole theory jose was not loved by fans is bs. Go and watch his sevilla rant and then think why fans are more patient with ole than him.

Yes, it tells us that we've been fighting and doing well in several competitions. As the season has progressed we've improved. This is our 2nd best run since Sir Alex retired. Some respect is needed.

Just because the club name is Manchester United doesn’t mean the players are top draw!
We’ve had bad injuries on top of changing the playing style.

I’d argue that playing poorly and still coming away with a win in the dying seconds is great for building confidence in helping that feeing of being unbeatable!

Norwich weren't the better team, by any stretch of the imagination, statistic or metric. Krul was the only reason they even made it to extra time.

Also we're 6th because we've not played our game in hand because we were too busy getting to an FA cup semi final.

If this is the eye test, let me recommend a trip to specsavers.

Here is what actually happpened in this game:

Shot attempts:

Norwich: 9 Manchester United: 38

Shots on goal:

Norwch: 1 Manchester United: 8

Possession:

Norwch: 36% Manchester United: 64%

Corner kicks:

Norwch: 2 Manchester United: 12

Like, I get that we didnt get the result we should have. Playing the reserve squad will do that. THis is the same team that played against Derby (almost). We played against a team that is bad. The reserves played bad. Ole put on some actual first team players and lo and behold to the surprise of no one there's a one way highway to the goal.

Saying that Norwich was somehow the better team here is just not right, not even with the most critical of spectacles and the most justified anger the world has ever seen. It's just a lie.

Totally agreed with you

After a long period off the players recovery will be just awful, they need to be rested, it was a risk but a risk that fully paid off
Well done ole

There was 10 minutes Norwich looked better probably. Just before the sending off?

Their goal was a surprise and a lot of the rest of the time, they were camped out in and around their own box - with 11 too.

But there we are.

We weren’t good, but do you really think Nowich was better than us???? They were terrible. You can’t be serious...

I have no idea if this is sarcasm or not so sorry if you were being sarcastic.

But Klopp did have to play another bonus game against Shrewsbury for doing just that.

Yes, I'm sarky-trolling and I'm pretty sure Wummy is too.

Tired of reading all the negativity atm. We had the last 7 years to be doing all that, and we did, and were justified most of the time.

This last 3 months is so much better. Perhaps surprisingly, but how you deny it and seem to enjoy denying it, I just don't know.

This thread should be banned. It's probably some Liverpool fans who started it once they realised they would win their first premier league title ever. Horrible thread with a genuin lack of perspective, Liverpool supporters or not.

Pretty much. Norwich scored out of nothing and in the second half United generally flattened them.

Honestly don’t look at the stats which include us playing 10 men for extra time.

If you look at the game Norwich were on top in that second half, that’s the truth whether or not you want to believe it or not

He's just a hideous poster. One of the worst on the caf if i'm honest.
No one beats you ;)

Is it really so hard to see that Ole gets leeway for bad performances/results than LVG/Jose did?

Despite Ole taking us DOWN the league table from particulary LVG when we were starting to have a plan together with a great manager.

We deserve 6th place & mediocre seasons It no one can ever question Ole
