Interesting but not surprising.

I still think he's off to Italy, his agent was over there in December chatting to Inter representatives.
Was that not Chong before he signed his new contract?

Don’t think we will have “first refusal” seeing as he will be signing with his new club as a free agent.
Not really about first refusal but if he goes somewhere like Cheksea and turns into a big star, we have no hope of pricing him away.

It seems like a Ferguson Pogba situation: trust. Sure lingard and andreas have been difficult to watch, Gomes has still not had a proper look in.

Biggest loss is the potential for great chants, 'Angel' by Shaggy being top of that list

I do wish him all the best, he’s an ambitious lad who wants to play games, can’t wait to see him play!

so there was no surprise appearance for him... no great loss but would have been a nice send off
Meh he has done nothing to deserve one. Fitting that Greenwood would score and assist goals while his contract runs out whilst he sits at home doing feck all.

With Sancho likely added to our current list of forwards it would be unlikely that Gomez would have got any game time at United.

He's worth a punt for Chelsea, but imagine Gomez might have be one of those players that in a few years from now Redcafe will be doing a 'where is he now' thread.

If I was him I’d be off after that Andreas cameo as well; if he can’t get past that dross he’s better of trying elsewhere.

Surely Chelsea should be one of the last places for him to consider with Barkley, RLC, Mount, Ziyech and Kovacic all ahead of him.
If he goes there I’d question his intelligence.
Talent wise, I don't consider him on par with Pogba, but similar things were said when he moved to Juve when they had Marchisio, Vidal and Pirlo.

Wish him all the best. Its the right move for his career, but hopefully he progresses to a level where he can come back because I'm sure he would. Lovely to see from Greenwood, the comraderie from our youth players between Greenwood, Gomes, Chong, Garner, williams etc is brilliant to see. Was always likely that some of them leave, but hope it works out for him.

Something tells me he will rue turning the contract down just as we appear to be turning a corner (again).

Approaching this in a positive Utd light, I'm hoping it means that the senior heads at Utd think that Mejbri is where it's at, and therefore they're not putting up that much of fight for Gomes.

Maybe football isn't the sport for you if you didn't think he did well when he came on today.
Perhaps not the sport for you if you can’t accept differing opinions on players the ilk of Andreas.

It’s times like this I wish I was GifLord, some terrible basic errors in that cameo but I guess that’s doing well by his standards.

I understand that he wants minutes and that probably isn't happening here for him in the near future.

Wish that he would have signed and sought out a loan deal but I wish him the best.

Same. I don't know about anyone else, but after such a high, those poignant posts took me down a notch or two. Hope it works out for him, because there is a truly special player in there, I'm sure.

Lampard was asked about him today and said we won't be going for him.
It makes no sense. You have talent in your own academy like Anjorin who you can call on.

Gomes should go to Spain or Germany if he has that option, would be a good place for his development.

Fecking behave yourself the lad did well, helped by the match situation when he came on perhaps, but ....

Fernandes might never play a better game for United but he made some basic errors, as does every player that ever plays the game ffs

Mejbri is a better prospect and Bruno is already world class in his position and only 25 so to be honest it’s the right move for a player that isn’t shining as bright as he did for the U18’s.

Hope he goes on to have a great career.

The last thing I’m gonna do is get into a back & forth about a 30 minute performance from Andreas bloody Periera

You rated it highly, great - now let’s move on & enjoy the night; we won 3-0 & Andreas shouldn’t be starting meaningful games going forward.
